I fixed my XP shutdown issue where it would turn on a second later - it was a USB device (a sound-sensitive light that I used for gaming) plugged into a hub on the OTHER set of USB ports - not the ones that ASUS ties in to the remote power up.
So, it seems that BOTH sets of ports are sensitive to rogue USB devices, not just the remote-controlled ones. With that said, both my USB mouse and APC UPS plugged into the same USB hub do not trigger this behavior.
That's a tough call, and a statistically wrong claim.Quote:

Nope.
Don't make such conclusions without enough research.
Unless the stock ( stock NB cooler, no Vmch ) 475MHz stable rev1.03g that I've got here sucks for you :)
First post on here :woot: Hi everyone.
Please can you guys help me because i think i might have killed my board...
Flashed BIOS to 1707, then rebooted, on start-up i went into BIOS and put my previous OC settings back... when i should have loaded the defalt settings on the first boot after flash... anyway, now board wont boot... i just get a blank screen, with fans spinning at maximum when i power up.
I've reset CMOS jumper atleast 5 times, and took the battery out and left it about an hour aswell as resetting jumper - didn't work. Also i've put a compact-flash memory card in with the 1707 ROM file on it called "P5WDH.ROM" and pressed ALT + F2 to try and blind flash it on boot up, but again it did not work... well, i left it 20+ minutes and it didnt seem to be doing anything.
...What else can i do???
Thx man! I appreciate that! :)Quote:

As you said, the cpu power is not a problem :p
Thx again!
If you pulled the battery, set the jumper to reset for at least 15 seconds, then put the jumper back to run position and replaced the battery, and the system does not at least beep when you turn it on, you've done about all you can do before calling ASUS for help.Quote:

how do you calculate a 1:1 ratio if your cpu fsb is at 333
im at ddr 888 and cpuz tells me im 3:4 at ddr 833 im 4:5 How the heck do i get 1:1
I want to stay around 3.0ghz can someone please help.
FSB 333 x9 = 3Ghz (2997)
Set RAM to DDR 666 which will give you a 1:1 Ratio.
;)
fsb 333 x9 ram 999 (8500) ratio 2:3 :scope:

Not sure if you saw, but some people had similar situation that ended up being USB devices connected to the back four usb ports. Try disconnecting all your usb devices and shutting down.Quote:

I have disabled EIST/C1E/QFAN/etc... One thing I can't seem to disable though (and might cause the problem?) is that Virtualization Technology thing... It's simply greyed out.
Any help would be great
1:1 = 333x9 -> 667mhz memory choice.Quote:

If you haven't done any mods to your NB, it could be that it's overheating, or maybe you aren't putting enough volts to your vMCH. Take a look at that.
Lastly, the CPU has a 1066mhz FSB, but the motherboard is at 800fsb. You see some people able to get over 1000fsb using dividers, but I distinctly remember seeing people hit a wall the closer they got to 1066mhz.
Use Manual mode, and set everything you're going to use manually. I don't have all of the information handy, so I can't tell you all the options, but I know lawry put a handful of them in the first post on this thread. You can also find a good guide on anandtech.com's forums for our mb and core2duo overclocking.Quote:

Keep the CMOS jumper in the reset position for 15 seconds, while trying to turn on the box (this may not be necessary, but I was desperate). Physically turn off the power to your psu, change positions of the jumper, and cross your fingers while turning everything back on. If you work, go ahead and put the battery back in.
Best of luck.
Did you also disable Hyperpath3 and all the top Auto settings in the chipset pane? I know some people had specific fsb numbers that they werent able to hit, but I thought that was past over 400mhz. Try out 366 and see if that works.Quote:

If you don't see anything, try upping the voltage of your CPU a notch or two, and keep going up until it works. You should also try upping the voltage to your ram a notch or two over what it's rated at. If I kept my ram settings as "auto", my voltage would be 1.80, yet my ram requires 2.20v to function, and more if I want to tighten my timings.
Yeah Hyperpath3 is disabled. I'll try again later with upping vdimm and vcore slightly :)
And well, my screen just wouldnt work while my system appeared to be running (all fans working), don't think i heard a beep tho.
Edit: Any program btw where I can see my current vmch/vdimm voltagE?
my 24/7 clock is at 333fsb x9 on 1.32 vCore. If u try 1.35vCore i can use windows with up to 370fsb. but when i run ORTHOS its getting errors pretty quickly. it dosent matter if i max out the vfsb, vmch or vich. i think its strange, or is it normal? i want to raise my 24/7 OC w/o raise my vcore past 1.350. Any ideas of what could make it stable if its not the vcore?
atm i use EIST and all those things you shouldn't use just to get my pc as cold as possible when iam not using it. ram is running at 832mhz.
EDIT:
Thought i would show you my best 24/7 OC with stock cooler so far.

My 24\7 overclock. Cpu,Nb and mem cooled with liquid chilled to 5c.
sorry so big.
Darn that's nice. It's so close to 4Ghz... are you sure you can't do 4Ghz as a 24/7 rig? Man that would be sweet. Great s/s BTW.

1.03G is in my opinion a little better i can boot 410-420. on 1.65V MCH havent tried any more yet.
Bone stock my northbridge was overheating I think. It was hitting around 115f idle. Recently I removed both heatsinks, removed copper plate, and cleaned them up and applied artic silver 5. I also added a mini fan. Now my northbridge is 91f idle. Cpu is 89f idle.
So is there any benefit to running at 1:1, right now at ddr888 333 x 9 my sandra mem score is 7088. Which is the best Ive gotten so far.
Hi!
I've got ASUS p5w dhd mainboard. And i have alot of problems. I am currently using 1707 bios.
here is my hw:
Intel C2d E6600
Ati Radeon x1900xtx
OCZ value ram 2048ddr2 ch pc 5400 667mhz
forton source 600w
WD 200gb s-ata hard disc
Maxtor 300gb Ide hard disc 7200rpm
Maxtor 160gb ide hard disck 7200rpm
benq dvd drive (IDE)
unknown dvd bruner (ide)
Both my ide hard drives run in PIO mode, and i have tried alot to get it in DMA mode, cuz its REALLY slow, took me 110min to extract 5gb from winrar to the drive. And its REALLY slow when booting.
I am not very good in bios. But i've tried alittle, i really need help with this.
I have also problem finding my dvdburner.
I've tried to installe the newest jmicro raid driver but its in PIO mode still...
thank you. I have tried to get 4 gig stable but cpu needs to much vcore. 1.6v is as far as i would like to go.Quote:
