here's a ss of my E8500 I'll post the batch # later today
EDIT: batch # Q740A518
1.632v for 4.6Ghz?!
E8400 Q807A276 :D

it's degraded probably mine need's 1.6V for 4.6Ghz to :/

5ghz benchies started!
GG :p: keep pushing ZenEffect
I just finished this stability test, Can't wait for new sticks of ram! http://pix.nofrag.com/8/b/8/9216af13...6d8300ea1t.jpg
This is with first bios(0115) in strap266 twister on auto / PL (auto)@12 :( 1.53Vnb / 1.34Vfsb / 1.54Vpll COC 0.80 and LLC on performance.
Hy guys ... I was wondering if someone using Gigabyte P35-DS4 + E8400 can share his bios settings.:) Just changed my Q6600 with an 8400 and I don't know if i should increase other voltages for 4 GHZ stable beside the VCORE. I have an Termalright Ultra 120 Extreme in an Antec 900 case. I must use the 9x multiplier because my ram can't get up to 1000 ... I have 4 sticks of A_DATA vitesta extreme edition (if i only use 2 of them I can get ddr up to 1000 but using 4 don't clock so high) . Please help me ... :welcome:
This post has my 24/7 settings with the DS4. 1.325vcore in bios, FSB +1.0, MCH +0.75, all others on normal. Hope that helps :)
How are the newer batches of E8400's/E3110's clocking? I am looking at getting either one of them and I'm wondering which one is the better option at this point. Both are exactly the same price for me. Historically it seems like the E3110 might be a bit better (Q807A091 batch was probably the best Wolfdale ever) but I'm interested in what the newest batches are like.
Will a Gigabyte P35 D3SL be fine for these CPUs? From what I see it is a great board and it should be (as should just about any good P35) capable of the 445 FSB needed for 4GHz.
I'm looking into upgrading my Phenom 9500 to one of these CPUs because I can get them cheap through eBay (20% cashback + 10% coupon now, maybe 35% + coupon if it comes back) and I'm not really happy with the single-threaded performance of a 2.6GHz Phenom, especially since I bought a GTX 280. When it comes to multi-core apps I won't really see an improvement, but most of what I do is game so I should see a gain there.
The hot batch right now is Q814A015 - 4.4GHz @ 1.3vcore
THIS one here is very good also. I have had 2 of them and they both ran 4.3GHz @ 1.344vcore 10hrs P95 blend stable
:( It's not 4.0ghz but hey at least it's stable at 3.6ghz.
Speaking of degradation... My E8500 after 2 months of 4200mhz @ 1.38 in bios now takes 1.43. All tests have passed at this new voltage. Should i expect this to keep happening? or do they level out after the first voltage increase?
hate to hear that nugzo !!
His cpu-z shows core VID , not core voltage .
That's actually pretty normal for the Wolfdale. We had a long debate about degradation going on for months, and many of us started to notice the same exact amount of "degradation" - .05v. A lot of the amazing chips start out that way and then after a bit of juice, they need to be bumped .05v to be stable at the same clock.
For example I was able to run blend, large fft, small fft, 10k, occt, all for hours at 1.28v / 500x8.5. Then I did some benching and I could Run 32m and 3dmarks at 4.7ghz with only 1.4v. Now any of those things take exactly .05v add'l vcore.
SInce then it has stabilized, even with tons more benching, and I re-test for further slippage every week or so.
Glad to hear that it shouldn't degrade any further. I didnt have any issues to make me re-test. I remembered reading about the depredation so i was keeping an eye on it. My system was/is still running flawless. I've been so happy with this system. It has been rock solid since day 1. I just hope the 3 GT280's that i'll be getting soon (EVGA Step-Up) will run as flawless as the 9800's do in TRI-SLI. Vista/Nvidia 64-bit drivers have come a long way. I remember when i couldn't game at all with Vista and SLI, and that was just a few months ago. Vista is awesome now if you have a strong enough system.
What stable clocks are we looking at for 24/7 run on a E8500? 4.3Ghz?
