just found this new listing on ebay for opteron 170

So to go from 2.6 to 2.7, he needed to add .07v
and to go from 2.8 to 2.9, it took only .02v

That voltage scaling is backwards. 0 feedback, no screenshots, i wouldn't trust it at all :nono:

no chance of finding any of thos left at any online retailer ?
i checked flickerdown.com too bad they don't have any anymore

You missed the 0550VPMW craze by about 3 weeks, back then it was possible to get them

@ Clint, thx, i am favored by the gods. They sent a Great Flood to ravage the capacitor bearing land of my mobo, and it was engulfed in a toxic sea of UV green dyed water. In the end though, everything worked :) Just some kind of test. I am surprised that the gods favor me, i haven't even been making my sacrifices, no dead CPUs here :D

they will always be a god stepping after the 0550vpmw. i'm thinking it will happen in the next 3-4 weeks.
btw do you know anything about the 0546xpmw? are they any goo din ocing

I guess they are pretty impossible to get hold of by now, but as allways...if the price is right.. ;)

like wut? around 430 for a oem? i might even pay for it at 450 if ihs is still on. CCB1E 0550 VPMW only

lol, 450... they're on ebay for 500+, and that's about the only place you'll find them

Well, the price I can't say anything about...mine is not for sale anyhow.
But if consider the latest lousy steppings cost 410$ and up I reall doubt you will get anyone to part from their CCB1E 0550 VPMW for 430$.:slap: ;)

110% torture stable for everything @ 2.6GHz default Vcore but needs 1.51Vcore to reach 2.86GHz torture stable :)

OMG what happend to setup? tubing break,come loose,...?:eek: now what are you going to go with?

Barb leaked real bad. What am i going to go with? What i got. Even though i was turning it on and getting beeps while it was flooding, it all worked the next day :)

barb on GPU block, flooded the top of the GPU, went down the mobo, over the CPU in its socket, and over the ram (btx upside down mobo)

What would u guy's do:

I can have a Unown stepping and week numer Opteron 170. For 430$

Or a X2 4400+ for 470$.

Witch one would clock better ?

Opteron has a server core. And my last 165 did not do to well. Did not like 5x htt only max 230 @ 5x. My old cpu did 280x5. Also the MC sux with ballistix.

Do all opterons ans X2 have problems with ballistix ?

I'd take 170 over 4400+. 4400+s suck for OCin IMO. I'd sooner try a 3800+ X2 now... @ 295$ not bad.

I saw that one to

X2 3800+ 305 $
X2 4200+ 370 $

But i heared there is a problem with E6 cores and ballistix my 165 has a E6 and indeed its terrible. I saw that the x3800+ have E4 and E6.

Is this a known problem or is it just my bad luck ? my old cpu and this mem run fine only its a old Venice.

Else i will swap the memory to for some OCZ EB.

But u still would try the opteron 170 ?
