that was not prime stable, just 2D stable. I was able to run superpi 1M and thats all I really tried. It was on air as well, lapped TRUE with a single San Ace 109R, definitely too hot to prime or burntest.

it does well at low volts but anything more than that will burst into flames:shocked:

I am deciding on what parts I want for my loop, and I am thinking EK Supreme HF, dual DDC with XSPC dual top, 7/16" ID tubing with 1/2 fittings of some sort (bitspower), GTX 240 radiator to fit inside my CM690.

Can anyone suggest some quality fittings?

l0ud_sil3nc3, unless your dead set on keeping the rad inside your case I think a bigger rad would probably benefit you more than the dual pump setup.



On a side note I toyed around with wprime the other night and got a new best. I think efficiency can be better but so far so good.

honestly I have been thinking about stripping everything out of the case, and using the motherboard box, or maybe even using this case and getting a triple 120. You think a triple would be necessary even if it was a single loop cooling only the cpu?

Nice time Hoss! So is that on phase then? I'm getting my EP45-Extreme either today or tomorrow, so I'll see how it fares on this chip. I'm going to try for a ~5GHz SPI run, but I fear my PI's limit will not take me beyond 1296 like I managed with the 1Gb reapers.
Do you get a big difference in times with 2x1gb vs 2x2gb?

I had SLI GTX 260 + 750i SLI FTW... 3 of them...all broke their SATA PORTS. With voltmods, maybe 4GHz would have been 10hr P95 Stable...yes, did all the GTLVREF tweaking...gee

My tip: get any (well..UD3P :) ) decent crossfire P45 board and SLI hack it (google techpowerup forum sli hack, very easy, works great on W7 x64), use all your other current hardware: One thing is for sure, you will know CPU will run until anything else than mobo is limited. I know all about freezes on 750i

What you'll gain with SLI GTX260 on P45 vs NVIDIA mobo? Weekend's fun OCing the c**p out of your Q9650, 200MHz inc for sure. Gaming wise: more stability, higher fps

In a year or so, when your games run slow, put SLI GTX260 to 750i and sell for big bucks, buy ATI HD6850 2GB and keep UD3P....octacore in 2012 ?

for the ram: corsair 2x2GB 6400C5, this kit cost me sub 40€ last year...it'll run atleast 940MHz 5-5-5-18(i tested up to 4.2GHz, then bought 1150MHz ram - no gain), never tried higher. my advise is to not put moolah on new ram..save all for next gen GPU and hexa/octacore

Q9650 + Gigabyte EP45 UD3P or variants + GSkill PI's = dank

get rid of that X48 and enjoy stability at higher clocks:up:

I wouldnt mind getting a banchetto myself, there nice, right now im using just the motherboard tray from my tj07 as a bench station. Personally I would get atleast a triple rad, I started with a 220 and ended up adding a 320 later on since water temps with just the 220 were pretty warm. My vid is 1.15.

No phase, im testing with dice for now. Its not necessarily the size of the ram thats going to affect the time but how they clock, and usually the 2x1gbs are just the better clockers, either with tight timings or high mhz. My Blades wont run 1300+ stably nor cas4 much past 1000 but the CSs will. Efficiency wise it seems the high mhz cas5 performs slightly better than the lower mhz cas4 but my board seems to prefer 1:1 over 5:6 after a certain point, around ~547-48fsb. If you have to end up running cas5 on 1:1 youll lose some time but I dont think it will be to major. Just try to keep it as cool as you can and go for that 5ghz run. :up:

It was actually run on dice, my second time and was more of a testing/learning session than a max effort run. The highest I ran wprime on water was about 4965-70 for 32m and 4950 for 1024m. :up:

which ones? PL level? tRFC?

I plan to get those down, I am pretty sure my GSkill's can do tRFC 52, I know 48 will freeze the entire system.

TRFC was part of it but the other sub timings look to be left on auto with the "Standard" memory profile. You can either change the memory profile to turbo and leave the sub timings on auto or leave standard as the memory profile but under Advanced Timing Control set the timings to 3-3-6-(52 or trfc of your choice)-3. Also when you preset the sub timings there is essentially no performance difference between the standard and turbo memory profile when using a 4GB kit, 2GB kit is a different story though.

I am running the Turbo profile on 2.50A. As soon as this prime test crashes (or finishes) I will double check.

so after 23 hours or prime small, as I was about to post a screen shot, I had a lockup. No BSOD, no error in prime, just a freeze as I was typing in firefox.

vcore maybe? or maybe more vtt?

It may be a nb/ram issue, post your template. Also dont bother running just small ffts go straight for blend.

as for the refs I can't remember off the top of my head and I am priming now so I don't wanna reboot, but what I did was set vtt to 1.20 and then changed the cpu ref to 0.785 and the mch ref to 0.800 and then raised vtt back to 1.32v.

Just so you know the 1.32vtt setting does not work, it will stay at the 1.30 setting. When set in the bios it will still read 1.32 but actual voltage doesnt change at all over the 1.30 setting, 1.34 actually puts out what the 1.32 settings should. VTT up to 1.30 over volts a little and 1.34+ starts under volting by about 0.02. PLL also over volts pretty good so you can probably just use the 1.50 setting there.
