I have a i7 920 D0 Batch 3849A OCed to 4ghz 190x21 on a Gigabyte UD4P F9c bios with 1.23V and 1.395 QPI/VTT, Memory is at 1520mhz at 8-8-8-24 1T. I cant get my system stable under that 1.395 QPI/VTT, is anyone else having troubles with this motherboard and getting 4ghz stable with lower QPI/VTT?
Would like some input and want to lower my QPI/VTT.
You got me there, I live in New Hell City as you'll notice from the weather gadget.
I reseated my heatsink already on another user's recommendation from this thread. I had a lot of paste and now I put very little thermal paste on. I can try reseating it again with new paste application but frankly I doubt that it is going to make all that much difference judging from the temps that I'm seeing for these processors generally. I'll give it a shot but it just might be my CPU, case, and cooler combo being not so good.
I ordered a 120mm Scythe S-Flex 1,200 RPM fan for case intake and am awaiting that for better air intake flow.
Man I'm having huge stability problems here wth my new D0.
Whenever I enable Intel speedstep & turbo I simply can't seems to be able to find the Vcore and V qpi value's.
I have set my Vcore high enough but my V qpi is either to low or to high but I don't seem to find the value in the middle lol.
what should I do?
I got a C0 Batch# 3838B556 anyone know where it can go up to? im using a UD5 and rest is in my Sig.
Thanks
Can i have some help on this? i have a UD5 and im using the lateste bios for it, the F8E bios, what do you guys recommend me do here?
some d0s get hot regardless of voltage.
i have one at 3.6ghz with 1.120V and
it idles at 43~47 and goes up to 70~75 load.
i went from dark knight cooler to baram cooler.
it did lower the temp by 3~4, but i rarely see it
idles at 40 or 41.
i guess summer whether here has a lot to do with it,
but regardless 920 gets hot....
Here is mine 4.4 GHz stable so far crunching, about 10 or so 3dmark runs. Tonight I'll leave it running prime.

Just noticed I had CPU-Z covered, here it is, same settings.

Brilliant, you got a nice OC there
Heres mine 4.5 GHz @ 1.36v on Air 84-88c
(Temp a bit high but I dont run prime/linx everyday) :D

Thanks Meghalames ambient 25-29 :D
A few degrees more or less I guess :yepp:
Also before it was locked inside the prison now it has freed itself (lol) and has jumped on to my table with meghalames on top roaring with two scythe, enjoying cooler atmosphere and saying goodbye to my TRUE old friend :ROTF:

Finally got 5ghz validated on water with ~18C ambients (computer/rad next to a/c vent), and spi run 1M 8.276 at 4922 w/1.58 vcore.

what were you load temps? Awesome accomplishment though man, great job
rge, 1.63v Vcore!!!
I would be afraid of killing my chip using that amount of Vcore without extreme cooling!!!
Can you run any 3d benches at 5GHz?
I'm actually thinking about getting the i950, just for those extra multi's..
218 Bclk for 5Ghz is really good..
Thanks...actually using stock ioh, cpu pll, helped, upping those actually makes mine unstable. I could have probably gotten there with little less vcore, 4.95 was ok with 1.59...but kept upping vcore, when it was decreasing ioh, pll etc that helped.
1.63v ok for just 15 minutes I needed in attempts. When I tried and failed for 6 hours with my i940 using up to 1.8-1.9vcore that one I was expecting to kill, course my wife has that cpu now...still chugging along fine, but it did take a little more vcore for same stability after that fiasco:p:.
load temps for spi werent much, does not really load cpu much. I think it was just 40's maybe one core 50ish, didnt have time to look, kept trying to get pic before it bsod:rofl:
I read somewhere that if you lower CPU PLL this can actually help with stability, I have mine set to 1.300v instead of 1.800v, I am now stable at 4.2GHz, I have spent the last 2 days getting it Prime stable though, it has been a real PITA!!!
I need really high Vcore for it to be stable though, 1.3500v in the BIOS, CPUZ says 1.312v under load though, my QPI/Vtt is at 1.335v, and IOH 1.160v, I ran P95 Blend test for 6 hours earlier, and it was fine, however I am going to leave it running overnight just to be 100% sure.
yep, I should have tried lowering cpu pll further, just bringing that and ioh back to stock made 5ghz stable enough to capture...tried spi which just bsod. Actually your vcore is not that bad, some better and many worse, it is scaling just .03vcore higher than mine.
For prime 10+hrs stable I need 1.34v load for 4.4, 1.31v for 4.3, 1.28v for 4.2. My qpi vtt is about same as yours. Hope the o/n run goes ok.
Oh and definitely cant do any 3d benches at 5ghz would need ln2 for that, could not even run spi 1m..yet anyways, wish I had tried few more settings.
Thanks for the info on the temps, should've remembered Super Pi don't load the CPU much.
Funny though CPU PLL is 1.8v by default right? bluntsmoker is running 1.3v. thats crazy, Unless his board/cpu set it differently, I don't know.
