I'm working on 4.5G, exectly on glt setings and when I'm done I will post the results.
dose this chips degrade once only ? or they keep degrade for ever ? :p i could ran @ 4.2 with 1.35Volt and now only with 1.41 :(
if the cpu has degraded then what voltage can we give to them for 24/7 ?
lets say we need it 1.41 for 4200 can i feed him with 1.5V now for more Mhz ? how safe is this ?
ok just got 2 more E8400's so to whoever is keeping track which is doing better
batch# q814 or q817 ?
thanks;)
newer batch seems better most of the times :) try the q817 first
great ! thanks for thr fast reply !
will try in an hour or so (still folding ...at 93% now )
If you got a lucky 814 like this user then you are in for a treat mate !!

Leeghoofd Update Your list Please :D
same Cpu like before for some reason now it can go higher :S
and now i can run my rams @ 600mhz like with my old chip

Nice, well I experienced the same with the QX9650, needed less Vcore then before... now with the E8500 due ot mobo swap I can do the same too with less Vcore...
List updated sir !!
Just got this chip a few days ago. Batch Q810A064, not much time with it yet but looks decent so far.

No one beat my L748A142 yet on air  5100mhz !!! tuniq tower 120 cooling ! i love my cpu.. but soon nehalem next
Many E8400 and E8500 do 3ghz at 1volt or below, ya VID is prolly a bad readout by coretemp, try a newer version and be shocked... CPU-Z read out all my E84/500 at 1.225VID which seems way too high to me...
Swedish air is same as Phase to me :p
e8500
Batch q803a706 - pack date of 4/15/08
1.187v VID
4037mhz - 1.264v and testing
well i'd figured my first post (IIRC) on this forum should be about my latest endeavor in overclocking
been dabbling around since AMD 939 Days - MSI Neo4 Plat FTW
but i've been using a Asus P5N-e SLI board for a while now (yes I know bloody old) but she's treated me well and allowed me memory options not avail to you Intel chipset users
*actually on my 2nd of these boards)
I got the pencil vdroop mod finished up on her and have just started using a TRUE (Ninja before that)
here is my basic system
E8500 - testing
TRUE120
ASUS P5N-E SLI
2x2 Mushkin Redline DDR2-1000 - TESTING
Zalman 600w
Audigy 2ZS PLAT
XP PRO SP2
Highest I've been hitting stable on my E8500 is 4037mhz (thats kinda a lie as 4275mhz had been semi stable for 1-3 hours OCCT on 1.33v but it would vary how long it'd be stable for - never 6+ hours though - never long term stable regardless of cpu voltage or NB voltage)
here is a screen shot (1900x1200) and cluttered desktop
http://johndoe.hotlightbulb.com/7%20...e%20orthos.JPG
seriously thinking about going to a new board as i think my cpu has alot more in it and i think i need to do a remounting on the TRUE as I think temps are kinda on the high side (but I could be wrong on that...)
looking for advice & opinions on getting a bit further :confused:http://johndoe.hotlightbulb.com/7%20...e%20orthos.JPG
yes ! it most def looking that way played with that 817 all night ended up at 3.8 at 1.3625v still not orthos stable for longer than an hour
and just poped MY new (gonna keep this one;)) batch 814 went right to 3.8 on stock vid been orthos stable for over an hour now without touching anything  will go for the gold next 4.0 or better ( just stoped at 3.8 just for giggles )
and ya my sys shows 1.22 for vid on both  hope your right and thats wrong
havent had time for screenies yet will put up after finnished
been up all night wasting my time on that batch 817 !!! need a beer;)
*edit* burpppppp ok 1.25 in windows orthosing at 4.0:D
I noticed on my mobile Core2Duo there are two different VID values depending on whether C1E is enabled. RealTemp and CPU-Z both show this.
Edit: I actually found 4 different VID values: 1.0625, 1.1375, 1.2125 and 1.2750
http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/8642/rtbatterylz9.png
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/8...parisonno6.png
CoreTemp 0.99 shows 1.1625 volts for max and 0.9500 volts for the minimum.
If VID can change depending on what motherboard you're using and how it's set up then is there any point in comparing VID?
VID might only have some meaning if you plug two different E8400 chips into the exact same motherboard and use the same software and version to compare with.
I'm a bit of a newbie to overclocking. At the moment I have a E8400 batch Q810A237 which I purchased from Newegg about a month ago. I'm only able to overclock it to 3.40ghz anything beyond that occt produces errors in a matter of minutes. Is it my ram that's holding me back? I'd appreciate any advice on how I could at least overclock it to 3.6ghz or more with it passing occt. Below are pics of my current cpu-z. Thanks in advance. :)
Than finally use the CPU-Z Dump and everybody is happy again:)
