Oh I plan on priming for overnight once I get closer to my desired settings. Usually a quick 5-10 minutes can tell me it's too shaky when I'm changing things a lot.

Thanks Seanie, I'll keep that in mind to let it run completely. I had mostly been just experimenting, not tightening yet. I was mostly wondering if that logo screen freeze, then boot fine next try was a symptom of the failed overclock feature or the shutdowm feature or something.
did some fast clocking with my q6600.. this was done with watercooling.. core voltage was 1.5v sorry but i cant remember the other volts that i used.. oh and dont pay any attention to that superPi score i was testing the stability there :D

joining you guys soon... once i get my board and a new processor. :D
Benn lurking here since I bought this board back in July and now just finding time to o.c. and soon to add a new w/c system
I have run memtest with my ram at 1003mhz - 2.15v - 266/667 strap with 2 full runs without errors but when I am in windows and run prime 95 blend I get a fatal error after about 8 seconds? Since this is my first time o.c'ing what is my next move?
some of my settings:
12/24 bios
dram settings all on auto
cpu vid: auto
dram: 2.15
sb: 1.07
sb/cpu pll: 1.55
nb: 1.45
cpu vtt: 1.35
gtl: disabled
fsb: 400 x 7 = 2.8
266/667
ddr2 1003mhz
stock cooling for now...temps all seem within a decent range.
I am new to this stuff so any specific feedback to setting would be greatly appreciated!
I would say if you are failing Prime straight away with the CPU on stocks and the memory is stable you say after mem testing, My first Question is to what % did you memtest too, secondly, if the board is causing the failiures, then try a bit more NB and/or VTT voltage,.
Finally download memset3 beta 4 I think is the latest release, write down the timings and then goto your bios and hard set them, with them on auto the board could effectivley be changing them each time you start up your machine.

Just a bit of fun before I go back to the X38 board.

Well I got 8x450 / 3.6ghz / 4 4 4 12 900mhz 3 hours blend no problem at 1.4vcore.

That's basically the same I used to run my P5K-DLX 24/7 with the same mem/cpu combo, only 9x400 was more stable on the P5K and the 8x450 seems better on the DFI. I need to learn this bios. I think I'll let it prime overnight at this setting just to get a solid 8 hours.
Fooled around with 4ghz for a little fun, picking up e8400 asap, maybe tomorrow.

Does anybody have an E8400 on this board? I cannot get over 440FSB no matter what I try and if that is the wall on this chip I will flip out.
Did you try it in another board/bios?
2 Bios's and I am not gonna tear down my HTPC to test this chip on air.
I am wondering if it is the BIOS. I am on LP35D109, so I dont know if it is very good and I also wonder if 45nm support is alittle off. I find it odd that I cannot get close to 4Ghz and others are getting it at 1.23v and air cooling.
If I dont get very far soon I will toss it on RFD or Ebay.
I was just a little thrown off by your sig so I asked about the two boards.
Good luck, hope it works out for you!
Ya sorry, it is alittle confusing.
I wanted to test the E8400 under water before moving it over to the HTPC and get some decent aircooling and put the quad back in my rig.
I had some high hopes for my E8400 as it has a VID of 1.1v, but when I put in in the system I noticed that the temps from core to core were off by about 10c. Not a great start, and now it is either walled at 440 FSB or the DFI BIOS is bugged. I sure hope it is the latter....
I even got a decent IHS this time and the thermal diode is hooped on the chip and I cant get a better OC than a bloody E6750. I guess thems the brakes.
Will give it a couple more tries then I fleabay it.
Here's a crazy question, how do you switch between 1T and 2T timming, I thought it may of been something to do with T2 Despatch, but I have that option currently Disabled and still running 2T. I see no Command Rate Option in the Bios
Hey Seanie I was looking for that too. Best information I could find was in this post in section Clock Setting Fine Delay, but I haven't tried to adjust it yet -

I wasn't talking hear-say, but based on my experience. I've used this method on several DFI board i've owned and it worked fine, never had any issue. I agree that perhaps using USB is better, but i don't see why not use WinFlash to do it if it's done properly.Though i haven't had a floppy for ages...
I had to gank a floppy from the office so that I could have one on hand for this board. haha it's tan plastic and brings back memories.
no problem with 550 FSB on 45nm for me guys. Using latest official bios. It must be the chip. Make sure you set GTL's to 70 - 80. 1.57 vNB minimum and give it a bit more VTT voltage aswell.
I have played with this & was unable to get my board to post much higher that 850mhz or so on 1T.
Auto sets 2T & when you set 3T CPU-Z reports 1T!! yet Memset says 2T!!
3T set in BIOS regardless of what CPU-Z / Memset says is slightly slower in Super Pi & it allows your RAM to clock a little further so I am sure it really is 3T.
Here is a screen shot showing 1T when I set 3T!!

It's my first post here - I managed (don't know how  ) to get through all pages of this topic - great work - I really appreciate your input
It's only few hours for me to play with Q6700 but I managed to get it StressPrime stable @3,6GHz (450x8) and Vcore @1,5V using 4x1GB of RAM... Voltage optimization in progress... 4cores@3,6GHz is enough for me, but voltages should be lower to make me happy
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/2...loadql3.th.jpg 3DMark06 ORB
More than 3,6GHz is just pure play, so I tried 4GHz setting
http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/7...32mbym1.th.jpg 4GHz validation
My Q6700 @4GHz is SuperPi32MB stable (:D ) but I can not dream of StressPrime stable - needs more juice and better PWM cooling as I noticed StressPrime failure at about 65stC. PWM waterblock upcomming...
Funny thing is that there is (in my opinion) 10 deg C difference between cores during load... Maybe it's due to my quick CPU instalation (without separateing WC) anr/or Arctic Ceramique bad application. Upcomming WC modification will show me what is goin' on
what's your proc gonna be Matt?
wish the Penryns would be available where were at...:shakes:
well here's my 24/7 clocks... any comments would be appreciated... :)

What bios was in the board that you sent?
