Hi guys I've got a problem which may be solved by this SPD-programming.
I've got a P4GPL-X, and my board revision is that one who can't change vcore :( Unfortunately it can't change divider either! Or, well, it can, but not much. Here is a simple chart with results.
FSB (in BIOS)| DRAM Freq (in BIOS)| Divider for real
166 Auto 1:1
180 Auto 1:1
180 360 5:4
199 Auto 1:1
199 398 5:4
200 Auto 5:4
200 400 5:4
211 Auto 5:4
211 422 5:4
As you can see, the only way to make it 1:1 is to have a FSB below 200 and use the Auto Setting. Worth saying is that if I have 199 and 1:1 I can raise the FSB above with the mem still in 1:1 using Clockgen or SetFSB.
One thing that I found strange is that my SPD looks like this:
http://img.techpowerup.org/060816/Capture009.jpg
So it should be 5:4 with 166+, or at least it should be 1:1 'til 207,5 (166*5/4), but now it is 1:1 until 199 and then 5:4. A bot strange. The mem is Old Buffalo old BH-5 (I can take a pic of the chips if necessary). I believe that it is some old value-memory from the time when BH-5:s were on quite a lot of mem sticks.
But, if I reprogram the SPD with Thaiphoon so that it says that it has like 250MHz as the highest Frequency instead of 166, could it then be possible to run 1:1 over 200 with Auto? It seems that it could be problems, according to the problems I just described.
And, does it matter if it is old or new BH-5:s? Maybe I'll try Mushkin Redline XP4000, will it work? Will it work if it isn't BH-5 but other Winbond-chips like CH-5 or BH-6 or UTT?

haha that works to good lol but i just turned my 512 stick into a 256 stick :slapass: lol now as to what i got going 2x256 SPDed to 3-3-3-8 And a 512 stick of ch-5 I need SPDed to 3-3-3-8 all are corsair and need the same spd for windows to see the 1 gig . so I made a copy of my 256 and dunp to my 512 and guess what it worked lol now i got 768:nono: NOW what anyone got a 512 corsair stick with SPD 3-3-3-8?
Is there a way just to reprogram the 3-3-3-8

ch-5 and bh-5 will not run at cas 3.0

well this is true but I can set the Bios to run anything it needs but for the bios to see the mixed matched sticks they got to be SPD the same

and YES .. my DFI runs with 2x512 and 2x256 perfectly .. but with 2T...
Before i go to sleep I removed 2x256 and i put my 2x512 in the orange slots...
I wake up this morning pressed power on my PC ... and voila ... I'm in Windows now with 1gb of ram..

i don't know why they behave like that :(
Chaos-PL Is it posable you could e-mail me a dump off one of your 512s and one of your 256s so i can get mine to work together

Anyone having problems with Thaiphoon saying the trial is over? Every time I try and use it I just get trial is over and you cant write with the demo, only read.
Even on a fresh OS I was only able to to one write and now trial is over again. :/
-
It's the same problem for me ATM. So, you are not alone. :)
I even had one version once which never ended the trial state, i.e. I could use it as long as I wanted. It was a beta. Unfortunately I seem to have lost that version. :(

What doesnt make sense is I dont see an option to purchase on the site. What is the point of a 15 day trial if it's freeware?

Eldonko, any problems to contact by e-mail?

EDIT: NVM....just received the email :)

One dead Twinmos SP3500
Just played around with my Twinmos SP3500 bh-5, with clockgen and CPU-Z. One 512MB dead, the other 512MB worked. The dead one didn`t work with the Asus P4GD1 card that I played with, but works well on another Asus motherboard with SIS-chipset (P4S533-MX). Tried to fix the dead one with Thaiphoon burner but it will not save the settings that I tries to write to it, dumped the working chip and tried with that dump. So what to do?
This is what CPUZ says about my memory on the Asus P4S533-MX:

with my jetway i845 motherboard i couldn't re-write the SPD if the chip wasn't in memslot 1, so you can always to put the "bad" one there and re-write the SPD.

Tried both of the slots, no failure messages or something with the thaipoon burner and writing to the SPD. Looks like the SPD can`t be reprogrammed it looks like? :stick:

VVJ, I received an email from you (or someone) that you don't work with American's anymore? So are you saying that I cannot pay for a key for the program?

Hi there!
Thyf 3.10 RC1 has been released. The new version features a new tool called Timing Profile Editor that simplifies editing of DRAM Timings both for DDR-SDRAM and DDR2-SDRAM memory modules. A screenshot is below. There is also a new 15-day trial period. Have fun, guys!

Hi there!
No need to overpay to brand name memory sticks with EPP, just download a new version of Thaiphoon Burner 3.20 beta 1 and create your own DDR2 EPP-compliant memory modules! If you don’t like your EPPs you can edit them and flash them immediately! Showshock Softnology is the first in this occupation! Enjoy!

Kamerat, any suggestions? I’ll take them into considerations.

How about i5000x support so we can edit spd's of FB-DIMM's?
-
does anyone know which pins to cover on a non-booting DDR2 stick...dead D9GMH here :( that i would love to fix

Got my Twinmos SP 3500 512MB working yesterday. :toast:
Looks like the SIS chipset on my reserve P4 setup won`t write to SPD, used another mobo to get it working. Nice app guys. :)

Here is the dump that made my memory work again, got it from the other stick I got: http://home.no/ochell/new/dott/TwinmosSP3500_BH5.thp
Used an old mobo with some via chipset to fix it, think it was some amd setup (not to sure though, just "borrowed" it 5 minutes from a buddy on a LAN to fix the SPD) :D
Couldn`t even boot with the dead SPD on my P4GD1 board with it. But it worked fine on two other mobos, except for the SPD-info that you can see in my post over.
