SATAI was already overkill for Harddrives. What's SATAII gonna do? what matters is how stable and reliable the board is.

No technology ever completely saturates a bus, like AGP. Nonetheless, PCI-E became the new standard, and everyone (some reluctantly) have moved on.

You're mistake here is that you're comparing actual to theroetical bandwidth; simply put, the two will NEVER equal. No AGP card ever came close to saturating the bus, and no PCI-E card will do the same, either.

The concept applies to hard drives. Before you question the merits of SATA 2, try some SATA II compatible hard drives out yourself. I have 2x 250GB Hitachi T7K250 drives, and I literally swear by them. They would be a very good starting platform.

I'm thinking about getting the DFI Lanparty UT RDX200 CF-DR when it becomes available in the U.S. and I wanted to know if I could use: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...=321027-614001
or do I need to get a different one? If so can you guys help me pick out a good video card? Also I plan on getting 4 WD SATAIIs and I'm guessing that I need to get a SATA II controller such as http://www.lsilogic.com/products/meg...ta_300_8x.html Thanks.

It is my understanding that there will be two versions of this board from DFI.

Afaik the second will be out 2 two 3 weeks after this one, or right around the release of the xt. That would be the first week of Nov.

We now know that ebuyer actually did NOT have the CF-DR boards, but Tony has the board incoming and will let us know when they'll be released.

Also, me wants info on cf-bt.

Guys

2.5hrs i will have the RDX200, i do not have high end ATI cards but I will show all overclocking features etc etc.

DFI has boards in the US ready for retail sales, they are holding for a review on Anandtech and my posts here, plus they want Wesley and i to make sure there are no obvious issues before retail sale.

Sit tight, I will start a thread with pics and bios pics as soon as the board is on my bench.

I have heard interesting rumors on the RDX200, but I'll just sit back and let the results speak for themselves.

Btw, Tony, I'd like to see a stable 3.5Vdimm action on some UTT or BH-5 (to make sure these boards don't have the VTT issues ;) ), so do not disappoint us on that :D

Does this board's 3.3-4VDIMM work without -5V line PSU?
DFI nF4 Ultra-D/SLI-D/SLI-DR 3.3-4V dont work if you dont have -5V in PSU

From where can we download chipset driver for DFI Crossfire?

when should we see the ULi M1573 South Bridge in the DFIs for a much better setup than the SB450.

I think if DFI gets arid of the ram killing issues this new ATI should rock

Unfortunately, this board is probably DOA. With Asus and Abit both using the ULI 1575 SB and ECS and Sapphire both using the SI 3132 it leaves this as the only board without SATA 2 support. Now if you don't mind jumpering or flashing your SATA 2 drives to run in SATA 1 mode I guess it's fine but with the price premium that will probably accompany it I can't see too many of them being sold. Probably not a bad idea to wait a few weeks and see if they actually do have a second board coming.

you should read more threads before posting. SATA2 drives are backwards compatible. Notice no one really cared about the Southbridge. Everyone is more concerned about how it overclocks.

What do you mean? I'm running 3.4V (and can run 3.8V) using my NF4UltraD and a PSU without a -5V line. :confused:

Actually, running off the 5V is ALL the newer boards do, just a LOT better ;)

And yes, if you mod your 3.3V rail you can get some crazy high voltage out of it....but for some it's just not worth it and they'd rather use the JP17 jumper to switch to the higher voltage options.

Maybe yours arent backward compatible but mine are. It will have to OC at least 10% higher then any other board to justify itself. Dont think people dont care about the SB especially when this one uses the 450.

Im not sure but an fellow from Finnish forum have Antec Phantom 500W, DFI nF4 but cant use above 3.2VDIMM, jumper is ok and Vcore % is not on AUTO
