yeah ATI is canadian.. why not hold it in canada :(
No Matter what happens in dallas. OPPainter, FUGGER, Macci and good old JCViggen. ( Not in any specific order ) They are/were IMO the best clockers in the world... No Doubt about that.
IMO it takes 2 things to be a good overclocker . 1. Passion for overclocking. 2. TIME.., you cant "get" a status like FUGGER, Macci and OPP over night. It takes years of practice and lots of sleepless nights..
I think at this level, it may come down to whoever gets the best card/chips..
id have to agree 100% they are all the best, its whoever gets the most overclockable hardware so alot of luck will play here. Maybe ati will have more than one for each in case they get a dog, they can ask ati for another and give them the dog. We still dont know what hardware they will get and if there is any NDA involved
I hope all of you do your best out there. I think we'd all like to see some crazy INSANE clocks. :D
i dont think it's very feasible to have an NDA with so many people attending broQuote:

Yea it may be a little :banana::banana::banana:y, but I’d say its more like self confidence then anything.Quote:

not only that, but having an NDA would make the fact that its a public event nullified. ;)Quote:

So, everyone shows up, and ATI provides the motherboard, CPU and video card? And, they are looking at some new 05 and 03 records. Hmm, definitely smells like the ATI version of SLI, AMR. What better way to introduce it, right? And, right on the heals of the nForce4 SLI. ATI trumped nVidia's press release about a 7700 3DMark05 score when Macci OC'd the crap out of an x800 XT PE to get an 8000+ score on a single card at an ATI sponsored event. Looks like this will be a little of the same.
Yeah definetly a good marketing idea :D
Call me a market tool, but im sure glad they did it this way! :D
damn I so wish this was in NYC. I would love to meet you guy's in person. Oh well, maybe next year!
BTW Good Luck OPP. I am in your corner rootin' for ya!;)
week is ended :
Just waterchilled , X850 non PE , subpowered by enermax 300watts.
Cat 5.2 is not FM approved for the moment apparently :(

héhé , yes 9K is really near for you :)
for me 9K is as far as dallas :D
OPP, has your new x850xt helped any in 2001? were you able to get higher nature vs. your x800xt? just wondering, that and your goals for 2001 :D as for AMR, I doubt ati is ready with that, id expect r520 by far over AMR, r520 isnt far away from being released, what better time to show the highlights of it and get people so excited they will save their $ for one?
I suspect that card on the horizon, as well. But, launching that product right now would only damage the supply chain for the newly minted x850 XT PE, unless it is priced well above the x850 and supplements the product line-up.
My suspicion remains AMR. ATI has been working on it since nVidia talked about their SLI solution last summer. Over 6 months in skunk works should be enough for them to release beta product for a little press touring. I would still not expect a final release product until April. And, what better way to stop nVidia from grabbing any more SLI business than to release a product that soundly trounces it. If math serves correctly, I would expect an AMR set up to get around 15K or so in the right hands.
But, it's all conjecture at this point in time. ATI has some big plans to stop the SLIde in sales. The simple goal is to emaciate nVidia's SLI performance numbers, if history serves.
