My 2nd Raid KD7 is doing fine so far..24/7 folding for several days with small OC. I did add a HS on the South Bridge. I am waiting on Prom before I crank it up.:D
maybe thats why? :confused:Quote:

Well, I just ordered an Epox 8K9A2+ It got a pretty good review here.
It's got a lot of OC goodies: Vcore up to 2.0V, Vmem up to 3.25V. Runs pretty stable at high FSB.
And of course all the general KT400 goodness.
I probably won't be able to put it in for a couple of weeks though, I have to go out of town on a business trip.
it has ridicoulous memory bandwith at 200mhz bus. See VRZone review and see sandra's score... moreover it's with most aggressive timingsQuote:

nelamvr6, I think most people here would agree with me. Keep your KX7-333 and do not get any KT400 board, period. The newest bios for the KX7-333 supports the 2400-2800+ Wait for the KT400A, or better yet, the N-Force2. If you are dying for AGP8X, your desire is unfounded. There is no app or game that takes advantage of AGP 8X yet anyway.
i agree..Quote:

for :banana::banana::banana::banana:s & giggles when i first got my kd7 i e-mailed abit about the 1/6 and this was the reply.
Dear Customer,
1/6 divider does work. To have 1/6 divider work properly, you must have the FSB set to 200Mhz but the performance is not guaranteed since the RAM and CPU may not able to work at 200Mhz bus speed. Setting the FSB down to a lower speed and still maintain 6:2:1 ratio may not work either, since most AGP video card require 66Mhz. example setting CPU FSB at 100 (default) and 6:2:1, will result in AGP bus speed at 33Mhz and the system is pretty much not going to post.
Thank you.

Subject: abit kd7
hello, i just got the new kd7 motherboard a couple of days ago and for 1 my ATI Radeon 9700 will not work with it. 2. i cant use the 1/6 divider no matter what front side bus i use, i always get no post. is this a common problem so far with these new motherboards? please let me no anything because i like this board and do not want to RMA it..
Don't bother wasting your time. RMA it- the board sucks. Haven't you read this whole thread?
well, board itself doesn't suck, since it's VIA's fault. let's just wait for their "flawless" rev. A - KT400A.Quote:

I'm not unhappy with the board in anyway other than the inaccurate sys temps and the hdd corruption. Running rock solid same as opp... 1950Mhz, 200x9.5 @2v cpu, 3v mem... 2-4-2-5-2-1T.... so wouldn't say it sucks.
OK, I can't overclock as high as I could with my Epox, but we all know the answer to that.... Epox's relaxed CPU Command Decode settings & mem registers... and even at this lower speed, it still kicks the Epox boards' butt in every bench I throw at it... (We're talking 8K3A+, 8K5A2+ & 8K5A3+ here)
For a KT400 board I'd say it does anything BUT suck....
emtp563
I agree completely with marci. I think you are the 1st in this thread to say it sucks. It has some problems as marci stated above, but also some improvements over the KX7. I love my KX7, but it has become my number 2 board, replaced by my KD7. What problems are you having with yours to make you denounce it so strongly? I agree that if you have a KX7, you may choose to wait for the new boards to come out, but I do not regret buying my KD7 at all.:D
Well said Marci!Quote:

I feel exactly the same way about the board. Besides the issues you've mentioned, I've had no troubles with the board either.
Overclocking has become very easy to do over the last few years and I think users expectations sometimes get a bit out of line with reality.
I think you nailed it right there mdzcpa, I couldn't agree more.Quote:

Absolutely, They offer you a board that does not need any volt mods and supports a factory unlocked chip....not to mention the ram and video improvements. All you need is the cash and enough know how to match the right components and any newbie can get OCs that would have made a hardcore Overclocker foam at the mouth a year ago.:DQuote:

Well my main issue with the board is that it died!
For the few hours it was working it was a pleasure. I was at FSB 200 withing an hour of system installation, and 200 x 11 within 2 hours. It was rock solid.
Right up until it died!
But reading about all the problems other people are having with these boards and then having a board die on me has soured me to Abit's current offerings. I love the KX7-333R so I'll never say anything bad about Abit generally, but it seems they have to get a better handle on the QA of their latest offerings.
I'm wanting to try out the KT400 chipset while I wait to see what the nforce2 boards do. I can afford it, so I'm going to give this board a try. Seeing as how I haven't been able to break FSB 200 at all on my KX7 and was able to do so within a half hour of trying on a KT400 board I don't see it as a waste of time. The little time I speant with the KD7 definitely showed me that using the 2400+ in the KX7 was leaving a lot of the chip untouched.
But this is definitely an interim board (aren't they all? ;)) we'll see how the whole KT400A/nforce2 thing shakes out.
The worst that happens is I have a KX7-333R as a spare, and this spring sometime I'll get a better board. then I can use one of the spares to build a system for my sister.
So who's not happy?
True, but I'd like to try my hand at it if you don't mind. And according to the review it was running stable at 226 FSB. I don't plan on running that high, but its nice to see that at least someone has had some success doing so.Quote:

I think I'll at least be able to break 3000 on the Sandra mem benchmark with this board.
But more importantly I feel that I have a good shot at getting a board that will be reliable and not suffer from some of the problems that the KD7 suffers from.
Don't get me wrong, the feature set is great. Me thinks my system is sucking too much power. I know you guys can steer me in the right direction. I have an Antec 400W PSU, my 12V voltage is extremely low (see screenshot). THis PSU does not have one of those extra 12V P4 connectors that plugs in to the motherboard. Do you think if I got another PSU that has this connector it will bring my 12V voltage up? And if so, do you think I can squeeze an extra 100Mhz out of the chip like I did on my KX7?
http://www.oc-athlonxp.com/web_images/2400/voltage.jpg
emtp563,
Do you run the vapo off that same PSU? If so, wouldn't that be the reason for your low 12v? :)
I don't own a vapo but it seems logical to me.
Yes I do, but it was never a problem on any other motherboard. If any voltage was ever low, it was the +5V. My pot on the Antec is already tweaked. If I increase the pot anymore, I'll increase the +5V as well. My +5V is already at 5.2V.
If you guys think it's my PSU, what new PSU would you reccomend? How would an Antec True-Power 550W be? I've heard mixed reviews about those, especially w/ low 5V rail voltages.
Hey OPP....
which driver is the new ati one... I have 6166 currently and thats what i d/l from ati's site.. is there somewhere else i can get a newer one?
Thanks
slayher
P.S. I have a KD7 and its doing great for me. The only issue i have right now is the fact my 9700 wont go over 180 with out causing problems. I've got better bandwith than i ever have and its running my 2400 @ 2300Mhz on air right now so i cant complain.
thats my $.02 anyway.
All I can say is TTGI 520SS PSU. Review to be up within the a day or 2.
Go here, tell Chris OPPAINTER sent you from Xtremesystems.org

Could'nt tell you, there was no such thing with the PSU unit I got.
