Who wants to cure disease for team 36362?

New folder here... I used to be part of a small team with a couple friends, but everyone bailed so I decided to join XS.

I'm already in the top 100 (right behind you GAM... watch out ;) ) and expect to be in the top 50 in a couple weeks or less. I currently have my newest machine (E6600 @ 3.4) folding as well as a P4 3.0 Northwood. This Conroe is a beast... I was pumping out some of p1495 at a 1450 ppd clip on one core... too bad I only got a couple of those.

When the PS3 comes out and if its all its hyped up to be, i'll throw one of those on for the team also. Its going to have to put out about 10,000 ppd or more by itself for me to buy one though.

Looks like we've got some new active members on it, so I expect we'll be in the top 100 soon. Keep up the good work guys. :)

Rmc, it's on!

I'm very new to folding, never done it before this, so I am still getting used to it all. Made some tweaks here and there, moving directories around getting things all nice and sorted.

Anyway, those ppd figures you mentioned seem incredible. If am talking about the same thing i.e., 'benchmarks' in FAHmon, then the best have on my end is from the e6400 which is 532.79 ppd. Most are 1-200 ppd. So I wouldn't mind some more details on this, please?

I was panicking on XS's behalf until now because I noticed we had slipped back to team rank 111!!! I notice now it's moved again to 108 from the previous 109. Thankfully.

On a side note, I don't know if other have experienced this problem since the server switch but I could not log in. "Max. Failed Login Attempts". I couldn't even get to the forum from the main XS site. I gave my bro my details and he could log straight in. Anyway, it seems the url port or such has changed which totally defeated me. I thought I had been infiltrated. I disconncted everything, changed modems, virus scans etc.... What a nightmare. It was bad enough not having access and getting my 'fix' for two days let alone this when I can see others happily online. Oh well, relieved now that I can get my 'shot' ;)

I was also stunned when I got a Project 1495 WU... It was worth 364 points I think, and I was pumping them out in 6 hours flat (1436 ppd in FahMon) on one core while the other core was busy with some other WUs. Either the Conroe is particularly fast with the calculations in that project, or the points system was messed up, because I don't get nearly that high with other projects.

Currently i'm running a 2411 and a 2124... The 2411 is worth 600 points and is going to end up taking just over 24 hours (595.18 ppd in FahMon). The 2124 is worth 396 points and will take considerably longer... nearly 36 hours I think (233 ppd in FahMon). So the points vary by a lot, and it seems to be luck of the draw with how many points you will get.

On my Northwood I got 2 WUs (2130 and 2143) that will take nearly 13 days each. :( One of them has 50,000,000 steps I believe.

Completed a 2411-528.98ppd avg. Don't remember how long it took, but from memory it was quick compared with others.
Looks like we have similar setups:
-Allendale a6400 @ 3.2 - 2 cores when I don't need performance, like now (avg 12hrs a day)
-Prescott @ 3.0 - 2 threads 24/7 mostly.
-D805 @ 2.66 - 1 core 18/7

I might pip you though with the D805 (htpc) which I am only running one core at a time until I can fix the cooling/noise issues. It's made up of spare parts and a crap AU$40 case that sings with the crap fans ;) Also crap HSF (see sig). Running stock and even so 2 cores push it straight to 67c and starts to throttle and make a 'helluva' racket in the living room ;)

GAM, I've got an AC Freezer 7 Pro on my 805 (with the same mobo as you too) & it's at 3.6Ghz iirc & pretty quiet, I forget the load temps but it's a good cooler for little cash. Got one on my e6300 too.

Thanks for the tip, jimwah! I can get one of those at a local place down the road too. This is way off topic, so I apologise... but the Zalman FS-C77 Fatality is a way overpriced piece of dog doo. (bought in haste :( ) I was thinking the stock cooler probably performs better, but then it did do a reasonable job on the E6400 for a few weeks, so the case cooling and D805 combo does have a bit to do with it.

Back on topic: We got a long ways to go yet to catch you jimwah!!! ;) (You don't display details in your sig so I had to look you up - Ranked 12th with 70k+... nice!)

If I get a chance later I'll check out my 805 under some load later & PM you the kind of temps I'm getting, it just does a bit of gaming at the moment. Best thing about the AC7's is the mounting, pretty much the same as the stock coolers.

Keep on folding, now's your chance to make some progress on me - my resources are diverted for the near future on another XS project, don't :slapass: me too bad, I'll be back soon - I've gotta catch sc00p @ 170k somehow :eek:

I was wondering if there are any real stats out there as to exactly how fast the PS3 or a given ATI card will fold at as compared to the standard client. It says on the FAQ that both of them should be able to achieve 100 GFLOPS, but this means nothing to me as I have no idea how many GFLOPS im putting out right now... I'm trying to get an idea of how much getting a PS3 will increase my production. Any info would be appreciated. :)

Most of the recent posts in the folding forum have strayed off-course onto the subject of GPU folding, have a sift through. I think we came to the aggrement that ATi 1x00 cards were likely to be the only ones eligable for now I'm afraid GAM.

In terms of production, the folding capability is gonna be very impressive, quite how Stanford will award points for these cards will be interesting to see; could be depressing for others if ATi card owners start soaring up the charts (less depressing for me 'cos I have 1900GT ;) ). I'll stop now & try to avoid hijacking another thread :slapass:

My fears come true. Always been an nVidia advocate. :(

Well guys I have another system folding now, a celeron 2.5GHz I patched back together (mobo + PSU replacement). It is on its first WU - 2134, 381 points, 12%, 4 days left. Amazing how much faster my 3700+ @ 2.86 GHz is, it crunches that same WU in half that time.

This now makes a total of 6 CPUs crunching for XS :toast:

This is such an addiction now but I have no money to spend on some "real" folding systems :( O well, 6 systems isn't bad for someone who has no money, even if half of them aren't the fastest things around :)

Same here. I have a button at the top of firefox for XS to make it easily accessible and I kept clicking it all that night and the next day muttering "please please please......!" I couldn't stand it :p:

Slipped into the 92nd spot... and GAM's avatar change spurred me to change mine as well...

Essentially for the next week and a half I will only be running my Core 2 Duo machine as my P4 is busy doing 2 work units that won't finish for 12-13 more days... unfortunately I keep getting massive work units that take forever to finish... i'm not liking the -advmethods option so far. I got two of the same large WU's on my P4 and my Core 2 Duo... p2133 I believe. P4 will take nearly 2 weeks... the Core 2 Duo will take 2 days!

Re proc. performance, my P4e takes a hell of a lot longer to process too. I dropped the -advmethods just yesterday (or was that this morning :confused: ). It just finished a 4096/159pts after 4 days on one thread. I also reinstated an initial WU from an original dir location from 14-Sep and it's not due until 1-Oct (2057/159pts). The performance of this 6400 over these older P4s (and the d805 too for that matter) is very significant.
