Your golden....I wasn't near that...:DQuote:

The previous max clocks of 450/390 with crazy artifacting are now artifact free. Artifacts begin very slightly at 460 core and I can run up to a max of 475/410 through 3DMark01 Nature with heavy artifacts. I was using CAT 3.9. Max on the mem before the artifacts start to hinder performance is 407 or so, for about 160fps in Nature.
Does this sound normal for this kind of cooling with no vmods?
huesmann,
I read the PDF file and there is nothing in there proving that it is or is not. I would call their Tech support and just ask at 1-866-883-5411
huesman, that price is ridiculously low. i mean 220 bucks.. that is what the average 128mb should be sold at. holy molly.
just go ahead and order one - if it isn't xt-pcb... might aswell send it back :D
It wont bend like that once he installs it. I got a little better with a giant II 489/414 max w/o vmod, but its luck of the draw. Nice job Soulburner.
Semper Fi, if you have some smart fan screws they work fine.
Edit: damn you guys post fast
Yeah, that's not a bad price. Even though I already now have a 9800 XT I went ahead and ordered one. I'm a sucker for a deal. Heck, if I find it to be a R360, I can hock it on Fleabay or something. :)Quote:

huesmann be sure to post your results. It says its "in stock soon". Did they say when yours is going to be shipped?
Shipping estimate: Apr 7, 2004 - Apr 21, 2004
Delivery estimate: Apr 10, 2004 - Apr 27, 2004
Looks like you'll have to wait a while for results. :)
Darn. I can't wait that long. Looks like I'll just get a 128mb 9800p from newegg.
Yeah but that's like Kamikazee speed, i'm talking theres crazy spike looking things shooting all over the screen.Quote:

I haven't seen "snow" or white dots yet, just all kinds of abnormalities.
I could probably run daily at 450/380 though.
I must have a really good 9800 Pro because I can run at 487/386 with little artifacting in 3d01. I think my max stable speed is 495/393, and my max in Nature is 500/400 :DQuote:

Yeah I wanted 500/400 too, but it just isn't happening, the core won't do it.
Then again I just got it yesterday and it hasn't been used much. I'm gonna game with it for a week or so and come back and see if a burn in helps at all.
Also this is not a volt modded card.
I'm thinking the CAT 4.2's show artifacts earlier than previous drivers?
3.9 never gave me problems in Nature at 460/390 but 4.2 is.
And ATI Tool is stopping at 425 core and 366 mem, that's pretty lame. I'm gonna go back to 3.9 I think.
hey guys i want to say thanks for posting all of the info about this card i got mine thursday and it works great i can go 430 /380 at stock no prob
the only thing different is the bios i used. i Used the saphire 9800 xt bios.
i also have cats 3.7 :(
i have dial up so ill prolly dl the new ones tonight.
Overdrive works too adds about 500 marks if not oc'd.
w00p w00p harbaugh! Im jealous :toast:
Sounds par for the course, pretty consistent results i'm seeing.Quote:

I didn't use the Sapphire BIOS though, I just went straight to Hercules. Maybe I should try the other one?
I can do 475/407 in 3DMark01 which is equal power-wise to 500/380 (160fps Nature).
I get artifacts on mine at 418/380. This sucks. Im going to slap a water block on it and see if it helps. I know this card needs a serious volt mod.
Where are you guys getting your parts to do the mod?
The Mofo, the stock cooler just plain sucks. The heatsink gets hot but the puny fan can't cool it. I don't even see how that thing could push more than 10cfm.
I gained quite a bit with my heatsink mod, from 445/390 to 475/407 (with ramsinks).
Actually the mem will do like 430 on the desktop but not in 3D.
I'm talking crazy artifacts at max speed though, not just little ones.
Hey thanks for replying.. I get some pretty crazy artifacting as it sits right now. Basically, if i take it over stock XT speeds, it goes to ยงยงยงยง. I think i got the biggest dud of the entire inventory:slobber:
I did check out the HS and it looks pretty cheesy. I noticed it got quite warm when i moved it from one computer to this one when i flashed the BIOS the first time. So, is it possible the water block will take care of it? This is my first ATI card, so im new at this. I had nothing but probs trying to install 3.5 cats from Rage3d.. So i bit the bullet and installed the 4.2's.
Where can i find the VR's and the heatsinks for the ram? I think this card needs all the help it can get. Thanks again.
Try the 3.9's.
I think watercooling would help a lot.
My XT was seriously starved for volts. Night and day with extra volts to the core. Memory didn''t need much to more to perform well and didn't respond well to too much voltage.
Mofo go to Fry's get 2 10k VR's and order either Tweakmonster ramsinks or find the OCZ ramsinks from the web. Someone may know of better ramsinks than these 2. Good luck.
Thanks bro.. I got a fry's in Fountain Valley, which is 10 mins from the house.Quote:
