All of the DDR3-2400/2600/2666 kits currently available at the Egg that have fans show model numbers ending in "D"...except two with "old style" Trident (not Trident X) heatsinks...these have the "D" at the end, but I think it is simply because of the use of two letters to identify the series TriDent. A scan of their lower end stuff (1866 and lower) shows no model numbers ending in "D", except for one with the "old style" Trident spreaders.

No - because I have several 2000c6 and had several 2200c7 kits etc that came in box with fan and had the S in SPD and also on stickers.... - also my flares came with fan and have the S - what I can confirm is that Kits that are meant to be shipped with fan have a letter, either S or D, which for example was missing at my 1600 c6-8-6 Pi quad kit, which came in blister without fan. There spd only showed GBPI.

So my conclusion is that the letter in spd says that these are originally intended to come with fan, but it doesn't solve the d/s pattern - on the Trident you are 100% right, the D is part of the shortcut TD for trident

Those (blue 2133C8 BBSE) black pcbs won't even stable @ 2600 8-11-7-28 air and borked under cold too
i tested a kit(blck pcb 2133 C8) that had voltage tolerance at maximum 1.73,anything over==>reboot loop.Could do maximum 2400 8-10-7 at 1.73 :(
