thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!
Hi hicooki,
I sent you a PM already, but nothing came in right now.
Could check your PM's please?
Thanks mate
He's in Paris at the moment for the moment mate, just hold on....
Oh sorry didn't know that so far!
Possible without risk? No, it's a modification. Hasn't seemed to affect normal use for me after benching.
Picture is worth a thousand words.

STEvil covered that here:

Word of warning, that resistor is small. Very, very small.
Hi guys, my UD3R rev 1.6 has a :censored: BCLK wall at 215MHz, I can do everything 3D, memtest, linx, prime, occt ecc...fully stable but with 216MHz doesn't boot up or freeze immediately
any suggestion is welcome.
i know how to overclock the intel i7 920 to around 4.2ghz on my x58 giga extreme....but wont go much further any tips? also what is the advantage of increasing pcie voltage? or mhz??
Have to do the mod...get only 225 out of the box!
what bios is the fastest for superpi ? i mean perfomance :D

nice result
good fix on the heatpipes lol ;)
move the resistor in red block to the green empty block
i suggeset you use 2 solder, one hand 1 solder iron
then unsolder the resistor in the red position, (one solder touch
oneside of resistor), unsolder the resistor, then move it to the
green position i try to stick my Digital camera on my head, but
my camera's micro for vidoe isn't enough to record a clear video
or i will upload it to youtube. :p:

Thanks for your help so far!
send you a pm
Well, I tried this mod a while ago and failed miserably. I have plenty of resistors but do not have the skill or equipment to perform the modification.
Currently I do not have the resistor in the old or new position. After popping it off, I was unable to solder it back on.
Anyways, on my UD4P, my first PCI-E x16 slot is dead as well as the orange x4 slot right above it. When powering on my rig with either of my 4890's in the first x16 slot, the computer turns all the way on, but the monitor never shows any video. However, the second x16 as well as the third, full length x8 slot all work flawlessly.
If I was to have someone finish this modification for me and solder the resistor into the new space (marked with green on HiCookie's image), would the functionality of the first PCI-E slot return?
I've been afraid to clock my 920 back up there because I don't want to break the board any more than it already is. I took enough of a gamble running it without the resistor in the first place.
Which kind of tweezers shall I use? Any pictures?
Ah...ok!
Is a thread there? Concerning this mod?
Do you know any german modders?
I created a thread in the wanted section asking for resistors. I found out about this mod through the forums at Tweaktown, did my reading here, then turned to OCN when I lost the resistor. It's been quite a journey.
I'm currently awaiting a reply from hicookie or anyone else knowledgeable to see if replacing the resistor will fix my dead PCI-E slot. If so, I'm sending it to one of the guys on OCN (CL3P... something) to do the soldering for me. I no longer trust myself trying this procedure.
Feels like a waste with my i7 under water, a full cover EK block on the chipset and mosfets, and running at stock clocks...
Also, my second 4890 is running at x8 since the first x16 slot is dead. Not that that makes much of a difference, it's the principal!
Bump?
If it's any difference, the board has been to 4.8 (228 x 21) and back for some pi runs... which is weird since I failed the mod.
