Great case! Maybe going to Corsair after many years of CM cases. The setup looks really good with very nice features not seen in other cases. Will there also be a case without the sidepanel window?

Corsair needs to develop some 5.25 to 3.5" convertor accessories, for those of us who expect to fit more drives into the case
How many drives are you going to be using? 6 bays, 4 of which are hotswap
I was saying it based on you posting that the price of the canyon might go lower with this case coming to market, and pointing out that from a manufacturer standpoint it would make no sense for the price of the Canyon to come down with the release of a fullATX case meant for liquid cooling would lower the price of a mid size case meant for air cooling.
Its like saying Ferrari is going to lower its car prices because Ford lowered theirs.
I say Canyon will not go down........
that's a shame, but.....
No need for the condescending tone. I understand the way you see things and respectfully disagree. Regardless of the amount of quality the ABS Canyon has, its price is still inflated... I bought a brand new Nikon D200 Body for $599... I think the car comparison is epic fail. Ford? Come on... The 800D is not a direct rival to the canyon, but it might convince potential buyers of the Canyon like myself to think twice - since it retails for about 200% of the price. Is the Canyon twice the case the 800D is?
Dumb question: ABS Canyon = lili Tyr X2000?
soooo, Red Beard has gone awful quiet on us...
nice video interview from Hexus here

Also a new mid-range chassis on its way by Xmas period (no other details)
ps Hope you get better soon Redbeard :)
The case looks great. I'm really impressed with the thing -- even more so considering it's a first effort. Unfortunately, it doesn't suit my needs this time around, but I'm keeping it in mind for an upcoming build. I'll be sure to recommend the case to friends as well.
Feel better, man.
hey,... how about joining this two into one single hole??
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...nta/t9ijxd.jpg
if they did that they'd have to have a new grommet manufactured to fit the non standard hole which would likely cost them more money for little extra benefit.
i can see why it'd make sense to be one hole, it's really obvious why, but it's more obvious to me why it's not. the majority of the grommets look interchangeable, 2 main sizes, this likely decreases cost and complexity in assembly and manufacturing.
it also could be that there's an added structural benefit to having the two openings divided in the middle.
doesn't seem like you'd really NEED one large opening, in fact i think it could be argued that 2 openings is better.
i don't know corsairs reasoning, but i'm guessing it's along those lines.
I don't think making those two grommets into one large one will make the case any less structurally sound - it's made of steel and there's plenty of other tricks they've used to make it sturdier.
Making it one large grommet has the advantage of making it universal to all motherboards, so no matter where the connectors are it'll be compatible. Actually, it might be cool to have one huge grommet the height of the motherboard so that any and all connectors can go through there.
Oh I forgot that RIIE is a little bit extended...
And, yes my thought is, it would be sucks to plug two uppermost sata port on that board
you didn't mention the biggest reason, cost!
like i said, using one large grommet means you now need 3 different sized grommets manufactured.
really i don't see what additional functionality one large grommet might add. you might get a tad more flexibility with where the cable route, but it's hardly worth the extra manufacturing cost.
i just don't see a situation where one larger grommet would be all that much more beneficial.
i can sort of see an argument for aesthetics, but even that can be subjective (i like the current design with 2 smaller grommets)
either way i'm sure that aspect is not going to be changed in the final case, and i think the vast majority of buyers will be fine with that.
as i see it you lose no real functionality by NOT using one large grommet. that little 0.5-1" space between the grommets just isn't going to make a difference. i can't think of a cable in a pc that is wide enough to be bothered by it.
edit: maaaaaaybe ide ribbon cables, but if you're still using those, a 300 dollar case might not be your best NEXT upgrade.
Ah, so you're a Corsair employee working on this case? Wait, you aren't? Oh, so you don't know what the official reason for not designing it that way is?
It's entirely possible that cost isn't the reason that hasn't been done yet. Likely, in fact. But until you get word from a Corsair rep that it would in fact be too expensive for them to do the grommets that way don't put words in their mouths. And I'd be willing to bet that for a case this expensive a few cents here or there for a larger hole and grommet won't increase the price by a whole lot.
i already said i don't know the official reason. doesn't mean it doesn't sound like the most obvious one. a few cents for a mass production can add up.
again i don't know how the cases are assembled or the parts made, but my guess is they're not off the shelf parts as a whole. my guess is they'd have to retool the machine to make the new longer grommets, retool the machine that makes the mobo tray, there might even be changes made to assembly that cost money. so it's really more than just a few cents for the extra material. that cost has to go somewhere. AGAIN, this is my speculation, and my speculation only. i think it's reasonably accurate, but i build houses, not computers.
your speculation is it won't cost much more, i disagreed, i hardly see any reason to go on the offensive.
i bet we can both agree it'll be a great case regardless of hat one minor detail :)
btw...NCIX has the X2000 on order, so maybe the canyon in the us but...
anyways, I'm still going to wait out on official reviews, I dont need a case, nor would I have room for it in my current layout even if I did, but if i ever found a place to use one, I probably would
