Aha never though about connecting it that way. The way I imagine it is:
connect the DDC-2 to normal molex plus. Plug in the 3 wire rpm into the bigNG so insted of monitoring the rpm of a fan is now monitoring the rpm of the pump. Configure the software to shut down when rpm below a certain level - the bigNG mentiones that the rpm of 4 "fans" can be monitored.
The add on analog sensor hub provies those extra features:
6 analogue sensors,

support for 2 flowmeters,

linearising and

emergency switch off

so it will provide emergency shut off to the bigNG.

WHat do you think can it work this way?

Probably but they're expecting the flow meter input to act like a pump rpm. The flow meters connect to the sensor hub fan type points. Thats one of the reasons I was checking out the flow meters. There's a certain amount of redundency in these things depending on set up, whether the usb connection is maintained or not etc. Alternative ways to do everything.

Same here, kinda out of money for any additions to this project at the moment

As with anything, I am still learning about water cooling - didn't even know about rpm monitoring of a pump, hence me going for the MCP655 (which seems like a great pump, just never had anything to compare it against in actual installations :p: )

I'm kinda big on automation, so if I was to go down this track, is this what I would need:
1. Big-NG
2. Sensor Hub

That's it?

3. Do I need the T-Balancer as well?
4. If I got the mini-NG, am I right in assuming that it is series into the mobo power switch from the front of the case? Also, would this replace the need for the Sensor Hub?

Also, what would be the most cost effective solution based on the above?

What mobo do you have soccerswim?

I have the ASUS Striker Extreme - I can't find any setting in the BIOS to enable this functionality.

I have posted on the ASUS forums - no reply there so I'm guessing the feature isn't there.

Hey Geoff,

Under the Striker Extreme bios, go to the "Extreme Tweaker" menu, then "Overclocking" menu, then make 100% sure that "CPU internal Thermal Control" is set to "Auto"

This protects your rear end in all instances. Your cpu would survive all thermal incidents.

CPU internal Thermal Control was set to disabled - now enabled.

BTW, as there is no temp setting as such, do you know what temp the cpu has to reach before the bios shuts down the pc?

Does it take the max temp from the cpu itself?

When the bios does shut down the pc, does it just drop power to the mobo?

The stupid Asus company wants you to use their garbage software to monitor temperatures and shut down the machine :)

I suggest that you not install that Asus probe nonsense because its more irritating than an old girlfriend resurfacing a couple years after you're married lol The program self-initiates itself within windows and I would swear it re-spawns itself like a bad alien monster movie lol :)

The cpu thermal control thing relies on the temp-based cpu throttling feature which Intel built into your cpu, and its highly reliable. Otherwise,your cpu would be dead anyway :) After you've set the thermal control feature, you can rest easy, even if your pump were to inexplicably fail.

T-balancer was the first incarnation of the "bigNG". The BigNG is now the flagship product and incorporates more features than the old T-balancer.

You'll want a T-balancer, MiniNG, and Sensorbus. The T-balancer is the fan controller and "brains" of the unit. Everything else communicates with it. The MiniNG can handle the pump, monitor it, and adjust speed as necessary. The sensor bus performs the shutdown.

As I have the MCP655 pump which has no rpm monitoring, I could get away with the T-Balancer & Sensorbus? Wouldn't need the MiniNG due to the MCP655.

Am I correct?

Actually you'll still need a BigNG and a Sensorbus. The T-balancer can't run pumps at all. The BigNG was the evolution from the T-balancer that could handle 1 pump. You'll need a BigNG and Sensorbus and you should be set. =)

Today I started receiving a few parcels at work.
So far I got the Sensor Hub from HBOOutlet, a parcel from PCCG, the stuff from Petras.
Everyone is wondering what I am getting :) plus I can see the facial expression on the girl at the reception: she is not too impressed with so many deliveries.

They just got delivered. The reception girl approached my very quietly and told me that the are 2 HUGE boxes in the reception area. :)

Now I still have to make my last decision 2900XT or 8800GTX Based on the benchmarks I dont think ATI has any hope to ever catch up to GTX (no I dont think drivers update will make up for the huge gap in performance between the two) so I think that by the end of the day I will have my brand new GTX. Not planning to watercool this as the blocks are just too expensive here in Australia.

Remember two things: 1st stop drooling, 2nd hit up the U2 case with some good car polish. It will help protect it from minor scratches etc, and it goes real slippery :slobber:

Why don't you use the MCW60 block + heatsinks on the GTX - my 2 x 8800GTS's have an average temp drop of 15C using them.
