Use floppy/DOS to flash N680i board.
All I have to say is lately I've been crossing my fingers as I load and play BF2142 (only game I'm playing right now)
I certainly hope that some Nvidia engineers are well rested after the 4 day holiday and get on this problem ASAP.
Same BFG engineer I worked with on the 7900 GTX fiasco is trying to assist me with this fiasco. If I had the choice I'd be running an Intel chipset in a heartbeat, I do think Nvidia knows this that's why they aren't allowing SLI to operate on another chipset.
I had zero issues with my P5WDH board ZERO, sure I couldn't clock my ram higher than 900 but that was a chipset limitation. I had no raid issues no sata issue and no installation issues. That board is in wife's case now and if I wasn't so jacked up on my 8800 GTX SLI I'd be returning this board like yesterday!
Not good Nvidia, not good, especially when so many are resetting to 100% defaults and still having issues.
This 680i is good RAM overclocker, i can get my Corsair up to 1200Mhz easily! On P5W DH was maximum only 1050Mhz! But this MoBo is horror ....
1. Max FSB only 350MHz ...
2. My PCI ATA controller does not work ...
3. Very unstable in load ...
4. PS2 mouse is jumping ... and PS2 keyboard is not working correctly too ...
5. Sound crackling with 1x 8800GTX too ...
6. Accidentally my RAID is falls and BSOD ...
Time to RMA and to buy Asus Striker ...
Can this chipset work with two different memory kits ?
Anyone with an EVGA board should flash to latest BIOS
The shipping BIOS was not recognising my X6800 & was setting the Multi at 6x
and the RAM SPD was all wrong
I flashed the latest BIOS & initial impressions look much better
odd, my shipping bios p19 booted up just fine with my X6800, and g.skills.Quote:

found it. Mine came with the P17 bios dated 10/20/06
disclamer: I'm NOT responsible if you misflash your board/ brick your board. the bios works, I'm currently running it.

Anyone reboot a perfectly running machine, to find out that the bios is no more?
evga board...fans and lights come on, cpu heats up, but display on mb shows only 2 small horizontal lines.
reset cmos, unplug, rmove battery, you name in....till dead
help?
btw...changed cpu, memory, no go... :slapass:
Once.... when I flashed a DFI 478 mobo way back when using winflash. Needless to say, the board was broke into pieces short after :p
Sorry to hear about that, just hope you don't have the EVGA board, If so jacob will blame you for overvolting and killing the board. Again sorry to hear about you $450 investment go down the drainQuote:

I think you successfully conveyed your message that made peeps aware of potential problems with this board and we thank you for that:toast:
On the other hand, just leave this thread clean, so any member can post and compare results of 680i board overclocked.
hey, i was wondering if anyone has 680i with the tuniq tower in a case can tell me was there any problem mounting it. i'm currently using a thermalright ultra-90 in a lian-li v1000 case and i have every little room left on the side. i'm currently at 1900 fsb and i think i can go more if i can get better cooling on it. any info will be much appreciated.
I'm using the Tuniq Tower with the eVGA 680i board. Works fine. I've even seen the Tuniq mounted in the Striker Extreme which has heatpipes all around the socket area.
are you using your in a case, and if so can you tell me what case. i'm trying to get an idea how it will fit in mine. and did you had to mount yours sideway? and thanks for helping outQuote:

Update: I just opened the case to take a look. I would say there's a little over an inch of clearance between the top of the Tuniq and the edge of the case.
rjw.... There is a fairly high percentage of 680i reference boards out there with that defect. some say it's a defective bios chip. don't know. when you get one that works ,it worth it!http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=667921
mine with blue led only. reset cmos, swap ram, psu, cpu, vga. you name it... no respond. sending for rma.Quote:

Currently, I am running into problems with freezing in 3dmark06. I can leave Oblivion, Flight Simulator X, BF2142 and many other games running all night without issue. However, I am experiencing issues with freezing in 3dMark06.
One thing I have noticed is that the voltage for PCI-E is sometimes set to 1.25v according to Ntune Monitor. I have noticed that slowdowns and freezes seem to occur while that voltage is displayed. I currently have the ntune monitor showing 1.35v for PCI-E voltage and am not experiencing the same lockups/slowdowns. So, Gurus of all gurus, please tell me what I do to change the PCI-E voltage?
@Cody...This is my nTune monitor with bios @ stock/default and 2X8800GTX.

Try to use the newest Nvidia's chipset/vid.card/ntune that you can download from ...http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
