Had this board for a few months. Starting with Conroe X6600 and now with Kentsfield. The only problem I've encoundered is long boot times. On air it's long but not bad enough to whine about however on phase and when overclocking it's unbearable. Entering bios and or boot to OS can take as long as 3 to 5 minutes. Certainly takes all the fun out of overclocking. I've used all the bios all the way to the 0402 which I'm using now. Haven't been able to find the 50whatever Beta.
if you are actively tinkering with bios, put a less demanding vid. card in for the time being. that should speed things up a bit. i've come across similar problems with at least two last generations of asus boards. nothing as bad as what you describe though...
the link to 0501 bios was two pages back, i think.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did drop a 7600gt in there but it didin't help.
could be something else then...
there is a solution to that problem. try flashing your bios to 0501 using afudos then revert back to 0402 via afudos also. i managed to solve the slow boot issue using the above methodology. goodluck!Quote:

What about FSB 1333 upgrade, this 502 bios does?
No reason to remove the motherboard just to remove the battery. Clearing the Cmos (RTC) only resets to defaults. It helps when you can't access the bios because of a bad overclock but the long boot problem isn't the same thing.
I found the 0502 bios better than the previous bios. It did correct some of the long boot problems but not all. I'm using them now and so far I like them.
The 0501 bios did not allow a 14 multi so I didn't try them for long.
Think I'm going to relegate this board to the everyday work computer and wait for something better.
Perhaps we are talking at cross-purposes but for the random restarts (described as cold boot) issues someone mentioned that you needed to clear cmos and remove the battery after updating the BIOS.Quote:

Might have been my imagination but there seemed to be more dividers available (at work at the moment so can't confirm the details).
Finally solved my restarts though, was a dodgy RAM stick, must have got some muddled when checking them previously.....glad I checked them again :)
Back at 390FSB with 2GB while the rest is RMAed.

Can't find any change log, does the 0502 Support SLP2.0 string ?
I've just got my board together and tried the 0402 and now the 0502.
With the 0402 I was having trouble with using the dividers, ie board wouldn't boot at all.
Now with the 0502 installed I can use the dividers no problems, seems a little stabler for me as well. I'm still on stock cooling until I get my WC sorted out.
I'm also using 4gigs of G.Skill HZ's under Vista 64.
How is Vista 64 treating you? Any issues with games and your X-Fi sound card? I'll update to the 0502 bios tonight, and this weekend I plan to lap my cpu and water block :) I just hope I stop getting the BSOD at 4ghz..it is killing me.
