P5B Deluxe: BIOS screens for maximum overclocking success

Had my E6600 at 3 and 3.2 GHZ

Got Unknown Device Driver windows (crash and reboot) ??
Anyone have any idea what this is ?
Got my computer slowed back down and cooled off.
Have not got this error again.

Had it running Orthos all night at 3.2 GHZ.
Did not get any errors.
Core temp said it was running between 55 and 60 C
during Orthos.

Later after I had finished Orthos, it had cooled down to 45 C (idle).
This is when I started getting the errors ??

Let it cool off and went back to 2.4 GHZ. No more errors.

sounds like an issue with your windows install, did you reformat when you got the p5b?

Brand new machine (2 months old).
New windows load.
Unless there is something on here that is a problem.
Device Manager does not show any unknown devices.

Have not seen it before.

What is good temp for E6600 at idle and load ??
Don't have to have the fastest. Want good temp.

overclock as high as you can! test by running 2 instances of orthos

good temps = high overclock

high overclock means add voltage

add voltage = higher temps

I suggest buying a good cooler and you can have your cake and eat it too! :)

as far as good temp well thats in the eye of the beholder.
a good temp to me is -50c load

what cpu cooler do you have?

if you want more advice about cooling then I would go to the aircooling section first.
if you are using the stock cooler that came with your cpu it belongs in the garbage or use it as a paperweight.

did you mount with that stock thermal goop that came already on it or did u use arctic silver 5 or something similar? Also its good to have a good intake fan on the front of your case and a good exhaust fan. this creates a wind tunnel through the case and you will get better temps. also make sure the path is clear of cable clutter otherwise it's not going to be very effective. I'm sure you know this already but I just in case. good luck :)

I'm new to the overclocking scene and need some help on the BIOS settings.
I've followed cableguy's recommended settings save for all the power settings.
I intend to run my system @ 3.2gHz(400x8) daily.
Here are my system specs-

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (B2 Stepping) on a Scythe Infininity
Asus P5B-D Wifi/AP
GEIL DDR2-800 Ultra Dual Channel 4-4-4-12 (Should be D9s)
Antec P180B

I live in Singapore and the ambient temps are around 31 degrees celsius.
Temps at stock speed and voltage are around 55 degress celsius on orthos.

Can anyone give me a hand on the memory settings? There's a load of them.
Also, what voltages should I run the vcore,vfsb and vnb at?

I've managed to get 3.04gHz (380x8) on 1.3375vcore, is this ok?

im kinda a noob at overclocking but i got a problem :p

i got the Asus P5B deluxe mobo with E6600 cpu
i got it stable at 3.6ghz 9x400 vcore at 1.5V

and i got the same setup in bios as FCG but i cant get it higher then this and my cpu is 37 degrees 40 when stressed.. so yeah i want it higher but if i put the FSB higher it just wont boot i got bios version 0804
anyone got some idea's what it could be? im trying to find info about it a long time but i cant find anyone else with that problem

(i got Thermaltake Symphony watercooling + Vulcano cpu cooler with 2 fans mounted on it)

and im new to XS so hi to everyone ^^

1.5V for only 3.6ghz?? which week CPU do u have? I am at 1.3875V on the Vcore for 9x400 and my temp is about 37 idle and ~58 under load (that's on air)!! Have u changed your voltage on the Northbridge?

Can someone tell me how to set up my BIOS in order to run E6300 at 400fsb?
What settings should i set for vcore, nb vore,sb vcore, fsb termination voltage and for vanderpool tehnology, c1e support, cpu tm function and peci?

When i set all to auto the cpu vcore goes to 1.5 which i think for 2.8ghz is large value.

got week 30A >< but i cant get it higher at all and yeah i tried that also on my nortbridge but gonna try and set my voltage lower but i got it at 46 on orthos stressed.. so i want it higher but cant get it.. but my job is Intel certified gonna try and change my cpu if its wrong batch number i thought 28B was a good one >< but im not sure at all anymore

I am running at 3.2 GHZ with a 1.325 VCore.
Memory is 1:1
I am getting around 60 C Load with TAT.
The Throttle Graph on RightMark CPU Clock drops and bounces back up ?
Also. Does ThrottleWatch work with a E6600 ? It does not display the
graph for Throttle.

i changed my fsb termination to 1.4v and nb to 1.55v and can get higher fsb and lower ram timings than at 1.45 and 1.65v (and nb has active cooling).

Seen that the NB max voltage on that screeny is 1.65V:)

How does the HS cope with this for anyone else whos got their board actually running without problems:p:

OT: Anyone know if Asus Probe shows the NB voltage and Temps?

can someone help me make a decision. i'm running an e6300 on a p5b-e @ 450FSB with 2x1GB Ballistix DDR2 1000. I want to run 5:4 or 500FSB 1:1 with 6x multi, but the stupid mobo doesn't have enough juice for the mem sticks. i was thinking to swap the mobo for the p5b deluxe for $30 more, but i'm worried the ones at newegg won't do 500+FSB. the other option is to mod the vdimm on the current board so i can pass 2.1v, but i'm not good at soldering and i don't want to measure voltages off the mobo.

i would prefer just getting the deluxe, but am i risking my oc on a board that may or may not do 500+ FSB?

I wouldnt spend money on it. It is 2less what u get back.
HAve u really memtested what ur memory can do with that limited Vdimm?
Running 1:1(@450) isnt that slow compared to 4:5, it is a very little difference.

Btw, running 500 @1:1 needs more juice than 450, dont forget that ;) besides 6x500=3ghz and 7x450=faster:D

So, try to mod or live with it.

2people with northbridge questions,

setting it to 1.65V doesnt have any influence, JUST keep it at 1.55V.

The stock hsf can cope with 1.65v. It get's pretty hot though. I'm going to upgrade mine with an aftermarket hsf.
No it doesn't show NB voltage and temps.

Just wanted to post my progress so far. Finally got some RAM that works... Corsair and their IC switcheroo kinda pisses me off.

But anyway... here are the specs. I am going to do a full night of small FFTs for stability, but I am confident it will pass. So far a quick 2.5 hr blend will suffice. Hopefully my settings might help someone out. First, I started with many of the setting found here.

The voltages/clocks are:

BIOS 804
fsb clock = 490 @ 1:1
Ram timings = 5-5-5-15 (loose for now)
Vcore = 1.4875 (Bios), 1.45 actual
Vnb = 1.55
Vsb = 1.6
Vmch = auto
Vdimm = 2.25 (spec is 2.2 for my sticks)
Vterm = 1.4

Honestly, I don't know if I needed anymore than 1.5 Vsb, but it definitely seems to be happier with 1.55 Vnb and 1.4 Vterm than anything lower.

Also, at about 466 fsb I was running something like Vcore 1.32 actual and had to crank it up bigtime to get 490 fsb. I think I may be able to push a little higher though... hopefully 500+.

Edit: Vcore was actually a touch lower in BIOS than I thought.

Do some memtesting to ensure that memory is stable.
If u have done that, you can run Small Ftt's instead of blend test.

Voltages are set well.
Did u ty with auto FSB term? My pc is now more stable with auto fsb term than with manually selected 1.4V.

Hehe, yeah Henry is the man. He is missing the magic touch this year and has been injured, but nobody can say he isn't one of the best strikers of all time. Some of his goals look practically impossible, yet he scores them anyway.

But enough football talk :) Yeah I am running fsb 500 mhz with small FFT all night tonight. I am currently at 2hrs or so and stable. I don't feel like it will be a problem. Heck, I might leave it like this 24/7 if it is game stable. Temps don't push over 53C or so on core temp with Orthos going. With a smaller overclock I was like 39C on load, but 53C shouldn't hurt anything. (this all assumes the Core temps from the DTS are accurate, which they probably aren't :rolleyes: )

I may try the auto termination voltage at some point and see if I can push further. Right now I am about to mod a case though, so my system will be coming apart in a couple days here once it is ready.

And yeah I did memtest some but only up to 510 mhz at 5-5-5-15. I will get into it more later on if I push for a 100% overclock and/or tweaking my ram timings.
