Will the LP UT NF590 SLI-T2R/G have EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) for memory? Thanks
Also will EPP be a nvidia nforce 590 thing only? Or will 975x and RD600 support it?
Yes all 590 chipsets include it.Quote:

It has EPP under SLI-ready memory, so maybe with intel it has to have EPP and be SLI-ready, im not sure
Yes, 1.03G works with Conroe just fine. ;)Quote:

Even if 965-based motherboards are cheaper than 975-based boards, the increased cost of SATA optical drives wipes that difference out (especially since the only current source of such drives is the not-inexpensive Plextor). The one area where (IMHO) 965X-based boards would make sense is when building completely from scratch (all new components).Quote:

Well both of you are right ;) The ICH8 southbridge, the one that come's with 965 series, doesn't support IDE anymore. However most of the board makers will but some marvell chip or something like that on the board providing some IDE channels ;)
On Asus P5B Deluxe there is a JMicron® JMB363 PATA and SATA controller ;)
I was browsing Alternate's website and I saw interesting thing, three Asus P5WD2-E Premium boards  Is one of them 1.03G revision or what are they?
Prolly the P5WDH for me. NF5 is really just a refresh of the NF4 and thus (and also backed up by early tests of NF5 board on XS) is likely to have many of the same issues the NF4 had. Bad mojo imo.
Be nice if NV finally made SLI available but I guess that'll be their choice... If they don't I don't really need SLI that much over just refreshing the top of the line card every 8 months or so.
August for the 590 boards is also too late.
BIG NOTE: EPP for memory is an open standard (check with Corsair for more info) and while it is something they worked closely with Nvidia to develop, it's something any mobo bios could read and make use of. So while none of the current chipsets besides the NF5 can do it, that may change. I wonder if they could do it via a bios change. That would be a nice perk indeed!
The two Asus 975 boards also differ in that the P5WDH gets rid of the parallel port. Not sure about the rest of you but I haven't needed a parallel port in 5 years or more. So good riddens to it. I'm not sure the layout of the SATA ports and a second gpu card are going to work so well, but I'll figure something out there.
And as far as comparing the TDP of chipsets, please don't tell me you think that a 5w differerence is even worth talking about. NF shouldn't even get a minor negative remark in that regard. The difference is more of a number on a page rather than anything worth worrying about. Choosing a Raptor over a 7200 rpm drive is a similar difference and no one complains. Dwell on performance and stability or serious power savings, not these tiny things.
:)
Where have we seen early tests of the NF5?Quote:

Don't forget the 8 phase power regulators on the new P5WD2-E Premium r1.03G ;)
yeah that too
On which board did you test this? I'm having a similar problem: I don't want to buy an Asus P5WDG2-WS to find out it isn't working. You're absolutely sure the Asus P5WDG2-WS rev1.03g supports Conroe?Quote:

yes but it has to be the pro version I believe, the 1.03g was for the p5wd2e premiumQuote:

and no the p5wdg2-ws won't work, only pro will
vapb400 - now if I could recall that would be great but it was a link on a thread here in XS that took us to someone who didn't get the FSB past 223. I'll have to check with a search to find it again, sorry. Can't do that right this second but I'll remember to.
Again apologies.
That's one reference but not the one I was looking for.Quote:

on the overclocker's Party of DFI with Coolaler they overclocked a XE6800 with an nForce. they only achieved a FSB of 27x mhz... maybe they hadn't enough time to test the FSB though. but I claim that nForce 5 IE will suck as well as nForce 4 IE did...
I thought that is what you were referring too. We'll have to see. FCG also said "NV590 overclocks like a mofo". Or something along those lines :)Quote:

Yeah I read that again. I have to say FCG is so often right on the money, that who am I to think otherwise on this one. So let's see. I kind of hope he is right because if NF5 turns out to be a more class act I would really prefer their board feature wise. Kentsfield compatibility would also be something I'd be looking to see if the NF5 could do as well.
So I won't count the NF5 out I guess is the net result. However not sure I'm waiting till Aug or Sep for their board either, but that we'll have to see on too.
:)
look this.... http://www.asrock.com/product/ConRoeXFire-eSATA2.htm
just ordered:
775Dual-VSTA
for 65$ shipped, should be here within a week or so, right now i only have a pentium D to throw it in, but i was getting tired of waiting, once here, ill write a mini review of the FSB's that it achieves, and some general performance of it.
Which PD... please not 805!!!
I was going to get it too... but building temp amd i thnk...
