Going out of my mind.

Can some 1 please help.
i used bios 1504 and upgraded to 1639.
everthing is fine until i play a game my fps is down to 6 from 150.
i know its the bios because everthing was fine until the flash.
tried everthing to get olderbios on but wont let me saying cant downgrade bios. this is bloody stupid never seen anything so daft in my life.
i dont have a floppy drive can any1 give me advice on how to get this back to bios 1504. thx in responce. :(

Happened to me when i put the lowest value in QPI Frequency.

keeps saying unable to open rom file :( please help. computers is usless withn this bios all games fps drop to 6 from 150.

Hi Daz

Put the ASUS CD in the rom drive and do a recovery, its shown how to in the handbook, when that is done flash to the bios you want.

Or you can boot from BIOS 2, then backup BIOS 2 to BIOS 1 then boot again from BIOS 1 and update BIOS 1 with 1504 :)

flashback is also always possible with afudos (V217 afaik)

put it on a usb stick which is bootable

the backup bios methode is the better one, but in case you have 1639 on booth banks you can go back with afudos always

this is my first setup in building a computer, water cooling and OC's.

Can someone please post stable setting for OC's to 4.2 - 4.5?
i have tryed so many setting but my system wont load windows.
i been trying about a month now, been reading alot but still cant get it to run.

MB-ASUS RAMPAGE EXTREME2
CPU- I7 920
RAM-CORSAIR 3X2GB 1600 CAS 8
CPU COOLER- SWIFTECT WATER COOLING
VGA- ATI HD 5770
PSU-CORSAIR 1000W
HDD- WD VelociRaptor 300GB AND Seagate 7200 1TB

check out my post 3044 in this thread.

I tried these settings on my water setup and it worked right away without issues. It was the first config I tried and was perfect.

With Ez Flash you need to load default setup and after you can flash the bios. ;)

LinX is a good stability software, I prefer it over Prime95, just do at least 25 runs with Maximum memory.

I agree but I still prefer Prime95x64 blend and force 5 Gb of memory used (default is 1.6 Gb).:)

I just flashed mine to 1639 today and didn't experience any FPS drop. Have you checked whether your card(s) are running the PCIe @ x16? Maybe a CMOS reset will fix it.

i tried afudos to go back to 1504 and it didnt let me it said "bios is too old,maybe it is not compatible with your mb"

Try renaming bios 1504 to "1504.rom" then use EZ flash in BIOS to flash.

did some night overclocking with just plain air on my thermaltake true black.. this cpu has a weird issue with multipliers anything above 21 wont clock past 200 base clock, i have no clue what the heck is the problem, i've tried various tricks with no luck :shrug:

Search "afudos v2.36 es version", and use afudoses to flash back to 1504 bios. :)

You said with 21 multiplier base clock won´t pass 200 but you posted a 217 BCLK pic? Or is it speedstep?

@ Kain XS i said above 21 multi ;).. i will be testing the cpu later under watercooling maybe i can get few more mhz more than what i did with air

dazboots U not need to flash 1504 for get your FPS back, just change your QPI freq from first value to second. In my case its 4xxx to 7xxx and performance coming back.

damn spoke too soon it seems..to get past that 200base clock mark on higher multi than 21 all this cpu needed was little bit better cooling lol i should have known:ROTF:
this was done with watercooling, water block was d-tek fuzion v1, and rad that i used was thermochill pa 120x3
