Thanks, but is this SPDT switch or what?
I looked, but this was not mentioned on GTJ's BX2 page.
Andrew
can someone explain what straps does? from what I've figured, the main three are 1333 1066 and 800. Which one is faster and which one is best to use?
Also, are you supposed to ADD power to that 4pin molex connector to the left of the nb? I have a fan connected atm, lol.
some good strap info located here.
strap 1066 will give you the best performance in my opinion. checkout GTJ's BADAXE2 Calculator & his BADAXE2 Guide both should help in your mission to juice this great board.
Should I disable VT/XT when OCing
I would suggest you read this BAD AXE 2 guide by gtj
So is this C1E not disabling causing overclocks to be unstable with general use..seems like it would be a big issue on this mobo and overclocking....
although everyone in general seems to be happy with the mobo and its performance/stability....just not alot of "exotic" bios options
You can try using RMclock to disable the C1E thingy and yes i have to agree on the bios options. Compared to my previous DQ6 and P5B Deluxe, i was kinda surprised at the simplicity of the bx2's bios. It is after all an Intel board :)
nealh it works with RMClock. just set it to disable on startup.
Any ideas guys:
vcore = 1.375
vfsb = 1.3
vmch/ich = 1.55
fsb = 345X9
results: error in orthos in 2h 32m, stable in OCCT, XP
vcore = 1.375
vfsb = 1.3
vmch/ich = 1.575
fsb = 345X9
results: error in orthos in 42m, stable in OCCT, XP
Why would increasing the vmch/ich decrease the stability ? What should play with next ? Higher vcore or higher vfsb.vmch ?
p.s. Would have been great if either the vmch or vich can be manually adjusted separately like the p5b
Yeah, i really don't know why am i getting such low fsbs
Ram timings are set as 5-5-5-15 with 2.2V running at 1:1
It's a week L28B some more. Hwo do you know a chp is capable of the stated speed? i.e. >3.1 Ghz
Going to try memtest86+ now. What does it mean if there's an error? Bad ram ???
not sure if it makes a diff - but i went with a spdt MOMENTARY switch...
so i have a 1-2, open, and 2-3 option
wired it up & put the switch inside the case

My opinion: C1E being on is only a problem while you're tuning and only if the multilier changing is confusing to you. I've never had an overclock problem with C1E on. Part of the reason may be that the 1 thing that Intel did right was to not allow C1E to change the Vcore if you set it to something other than the default. In this case, it only changes the multiplier.
I tried memtest86+ v1.70 for bout 5-10 mins and once i moved my mouse the whole system reboots.
Tried the second time and the same thing occurred - system reboot after moving the mouse. I don't see any ECC errors at all. Is this normal or is my ram screwed?
Will be trying the third time for at least 5-8hrs WITHOUT moving the mouse at all.
