yes i have enabled heh
Well, last month I upgraded my GTX280's with a pair of GTX580 SC's. I have to say, the 580's are beasts! One 580 is proving to be a bit faster than my 280's were in sli. It also, eliminated a driver bug that I was experiencing with my x-fi titanium card when playing DX10 games/sli enabled. The 580's for what ever reason, don't have the same issues.
In the pursuit of a more silent pc, I bought some water cooling gear for my rig. It's a kit from Swiftech: the Swiftech H20-220 Edge. Seems pretty cool and right up my alley since I'm a noob to water cooling. I'm adding the Bitspower NB/SB block to the loop, too.
I still haven't added my second Vertex LE to my system. I'm thinking of taking my spare ssd and installing it on my laptop instead.
Hey Sangrak, some nice upgrades there!
I just pulled the trigger and bought a Leadtek GTX580, now I just gotta wait for the courier... xD
I would love to see some single Vs SLI results on your system.
If the SLI scaling is as good as people are reporting I will get a 2nd card later.
Just got back from vacation. I'll post some sli benchies in the next day or so, chinobino. How are you liking your 580? Pretty sweet, huh?
I'm loving my GTX580 - I'm getting more performance from a single GTX580 than I was from 2 x GTX280's, and that really blows me away!
Planning on getting a 2nd card in a few months to see what SLI scaling is like.
The GTX580 overclocks nicely too, sitting on 850/1700/2100 @ 1.038 V (VID = 1.000 V).
Hello XSF, finally got my account activated.
Just posting in this thread as I recently picked up one of these boards about a month ago and have spent the last 2 weeks or so pulling my hair our trying to achieve stability with 1800 FSB L+S @ 4Ghz.
I have it stable at 1600Mhz atm and its running like a charm, will post up settings later on (as I am at work atm ;) ) if anyone is able to give me some pointers.
Sangrak, did you have the Fusion block on the board WC before getting the Bitspower? Would love to see some comparisons maybe on temp differences

Hi all! :) Good to see that this thread is still alive....
I still have my striker and is doing well... apart some random freezes when moving files....
Wow! ATI GPU + Striker II... :) Thank god I got rid of that board. It really hated my QX6850.
I see on some EVGA threads that people have gotten the 790i Ultra running 16gb of RAM. Anyone tried with the S2E?

Thats interesting
But at this point I wonder how many are still running this board.
I still run it as my main pc. Never finished my water cooling project but Im thinking about putting 8gbs of RAM. We will see...
I'm still going stong with my WC 4.05MHZ overclock. Have to say it's been a great board, no issues running all the latest stuff at high res.
I have been attached to this board so hard that I dont see myself building an i7 system before I put water on this one.
My striker still going strong. I love this board. Glad to see you still active in the thread Trigger :D
Well guys, I'm officially out of the club - its been great having so many long term users on this forum.
The ASUS Striker II Extreme served me very well (board still works btw) but the itch to upgrade to Ivy Bridge and the lure of a Type I Hypervisor in Windows 8 RP was too strong.
No SLAT on socket 775 CPU's to test the new Hyper-V out with made my E8700, QX9650 and x3380 redundant.
One thing I will say for the ASUS S II E (790i) is that it outlasted 3 XFX 780i's and one EVGA 780i FTW which were replaced long ago...
The ROHS changes introduced in 2006 that forced the removal of lead in solder really hurt Nvidia motherboards like the 680i and 780i and the GeForce 8M series of laptop GPUs.
It seems that the Nforce 200 chip on the 780i mobo and the G84M GPU gets too hot and breaks away from the BGA due to the crappy solder - live and learn eh Nvidia?
I believe everyone should start thinking about moving on now.
I would really like to move to Sandy Bridge-E. Maybe a 3920/x79 with a Samsung 830 256gb SSD. That sounds like the best idea for me. That means new case and new power supply. Thats why I dont make the move yet, so much money haha.
Since eVGA RMAed my 8800GT with 550GTX Ti FPB, I keep delaying my upgrade.
Good luck to you chinobino. See you at the next 200 page thread :D
