corsiar memory in single channel, only 1024 recognized

Hello all! I've been following this thread since late August in anticipation of building a new machine. You guys are a great resource! Thanks to the holiday, I now have a shiny new C2D system! :D
Just recently daos reported that his Corsair 6400C4 Dominator memory was working well. Unfortunately that is not the case for me. Only 1024 of 2048 mb is recognized no matter how it is installed (leading me to think that I have an issue with one of my modules) and that is causing it to run in single channel mode only. I have played a little with the BIOS settings with no luck.
Any suggestions? After the excitement of receiving parts all week long in the mail, this has been quite a bummer. :(
