HOLY CRAP
I just popped the top, load temp is down a lot.
When the lid is on, heat gets trapped under the IHS. When i give it real volts, it would always start to get really hot. With a bare core, the heat transfer is totaly direct, as with my other naked chips, i can keep giving it volts and it hardly warms up.
Right now i'm dual priming at 3.1 Ghz with 1.48v :eek:

Hehe, it will be one of the first Opteron to dual prime at 3.2 Ghz with normal watercooling and 40c load :P

Doesn't like 3.2 very much, it wants more volts and when i give it more it goes above 40c, hits 43c and causes core0 to fail. I'm sure it's bench stable past 3.2 though.
Right now i'm working on 3.15 with 1.5v

All cores look pretty flat to me. Don't try to convince me to lap it, you evil, evil man. I was scared enough removing the IHS, took off a couple SMDs. There are a LOT more of them on the dual cores than on the last single core i beheaded. Good thing they don't have any importance :P

Glad to hear those SMD's didn't mean a thing, I believe they are there for those high density multi CPU server setups that "might" have electro magnetic interference...and the technology has been applied to the whole production line.
But he was on waterchilling loading @ 25c lol. I idle at 30c and load at 41. Right now 3.15 Ghz 1.53v priming good...Quote:

I think Absolute is right. These VPMWs like low volts and temps..
I'm 24h dual prime stable at 2.8, 1.40. But I can prime at lower volts, and temps, but as soon as I get past 45C, the weaker core fails..still at 2.8G
Here is the weak core 0 priming by itself < 40C

Bingo thunderstruck, i've noticed it too, core0 seems more sensitive to temps, when i turn off core1 and core0 is going by itself at lower temps, it keeps going.
@ Grinch, that's nothing, i got a 3.15 Ghz stable show coming up, let it run a bit longer
