sorry to mention this is at 2800Mhz
just an observation about the 2 chips I am trying....the 0546XPMW seems to idle lower (26-27C) versus 0550VPMW (31-32C) the 0546XPMW seems to load just a little bit cooler (36-37) versus 0550VPMW (38-39)...what I am seeing is that there is a bigger jump from idle to load with XPMW chip than the VPMW....again this is just an observation.
Absolute0....I am pretty sure my chip just needs volts...at 2800 it would run Prime 95 on core 0 but needed to give it alot of vcore(1.5v+) this rapidly moved temps in the 50s....I did not let it go for an hour to see if it would crash
Looks like my luck continues to be crap...jeez feeling I am chasing a holy grail my 0546 xpmw looks like a better chip overall...kinda wish I had my 165 back
Holy crap..this chips is running at 2500 on stock vcore but load temps are nealry what my 0546 at 1.5v would reach
I am hitting 47C right now...with 1.5v my 0546 hit 48/49C...this chip is a real issue for me....I amy have to see it to someone who has better cooling....at low volts it boots in XP etc at 2800 but not prime95 stable I am sure in someone else hands it will be fine but no way I can use this chip in FL...
I took off the SI 120/nexus , reapplied AS5 by spreading a small dab in the center over the IHS..temps no different
only other thing to do is get different ram but that is probably a waste..this chip just runs too hot for my cooling
I can not afford the time or money on WC setup
Iam running 704-2bta bios now
reinforces my observationQuote:

I'm in florida....:woot:
I live in Tampa....
Ok..this totally sucks..I wait all that time for a VPMW
170 0550 VPMW 678L0574...pure crap..idle temps are 4-6C higher and loads rapidly go up
the chip will at stock run 2700 and run winxp fine...but prime dies so fast on core0,...in fact this chip will small bumps runs winxp fine at 2800...prime is another story..I did get prime 95 to run
this is absurd at stock vcore at 2500 the chip is hitting 48/50C...same setup that my 0546 xpmw did 1.5v at 48/49C!!!!!
Damn it
Sorry I needed to vent
Neal
BTW Absolute0...it is not crashing at 50C so it is not heat but voltage it needs and I think with better cooling this needs 1.5v or to run higher
Trust me, the less heat, the less volts you need.
On my 170 in the sig, going from air to water needed .08 less volts to run the same speeds. it makes THAT much of a difference.
Maybe so..but I do not have the desire to spend several hundred dollars to get better cooling....:mad:Quote:

Your selling a CCB1E 0550vpmw because of heat??
Hopefully this week, I'll get some fans for my rad and use some water. 2.8 @ stock would be nice.
That miracle is called a razorblade.Quote:

As for removing the IHS...I would then need a way t ocool the cpu...do not think the SI 120 would make contact
Did'ya read yer pms recently :stick:
struck into my mind once:)...cause i can get my 165 doing the same thing with the same tempetature and hihger VcoreQuote:

mad mikee..I pmed you back
I tried 7042bta bios..just hates my mobo and ram..I guess...
back to 623-2 and will some more testing but the point of this chip was lower vcore and presumably lower temps...this is not going to happen in my machine..
So I will need to sell almost for sure
Lakeland..I have an offcie in Brandon and Lakeland....very small world out there....
the problem is I hoped ofr a quick easy OC like so many of these 170 0550 VPMW's but mine will not be that way
Also I noticed with the 623-2 bios and this chip..if I set start vid to 1.5v and leave other vcore setting..cant recall there names..vcore and special vid to auto..the chip get 1.38v in 1.36 in winxp and 1.38v in bios reading ...not sure what it is really set to..very weird
Where have the most recent 170 0550 VPMW's been coming from? OEM or Retail Box. Anybody know if they are still available? I'm missing 10x multi!!
Sent ya another, but for everyone, do you guys check vcore on the DFIs w/ a DMM to see what it actually is?
I was running 1.5 vcore in bios, went to check one day on my DMM and found 1.6  :shock2:
I tried to check vcore but the SI 120 makes it a bit of risk to get there easily
not happy to hear that your DMM read +0.1v..was 1.5v a bios setting or winxp or bios reading..I only report vcore I set in the bios(not xp or bios reading)
Mad Mikee..sent a f/u PM
What's an f/u pm? lol
Not happy to hear about the overvolting either, but i dont really care because everything we know is measured with the overvolting factorered in, by CPUZ reported voltages. So when people say they ran 1.65v 24/7 they were really running like 1.73 volts 24/7, so if i were really running like 1.57 instead of 1.48... doesn't really matter.
On my board at least, vcore is spot on when idle, and jumps .03v almost exactly (+/-1mv) on full load. Even with VID special, it sets to the exact value I get in calc.exe.. crazy
DFI Ultra-D AD0
here is 0546XPMW naked full load:

ok so far as I can tell after priming and what not...my 0546XPMW AT 1.5v runs cooler than 0550VPMW at 1.425V under full load....go figure....
@ Grinch Where and when did u get your vpmw? Thanks
