Is there even a point to updating the BIOS when ASUS ignores the biggest issues?
I'm currently running bios 1503 and stabalizing a 340 fsb OC with my e6700. I've been working on a 8x and 9x multi OC and got the FSB only up to 370 ish. Not sure why but there seems to be a wall. Double checked all my settings and temps are good. Would a bios update help me at all?
What has changed from 1503 bios?
I have flashed my P5W DH to the 1707 BIOS. Before swapping to the Xeon 3060 in my sig, I was able to overclock my E6600 from 3.3 GHz to 3.4Ghz which was previously unstable. Maybe that was just an increadible coincidence.
Either way, I have just installed a Xeon 3060 that is humming along with a 1600 QDR bus speed (400Mhz) at 3.6Ghz. I would try more, but this CPU needs a lap job just like my E6600 did. SO, i'll pull the CPU later, kiss my warranty goodbye, and lap the CPU.
--more to come--
I flashed back to 1503 using afudos... I will never throw away my Floppy drive... even if everyone says its useless ;) I tried Alt +F2 and it didn't work, maynly because I didn't rename the bios... didn't know that bit of info... All is working again and I even played 2hours straight of Prey with no problems. :DQuote:

Good job Luis, main thing is just not to panic when things go all to hell.
glad it worked out for you.

I'll have the site ready tomorrow. and will I publish the related article and Asus's Tech Support evaluation results article.
Gonna publish the article on TheInquirer ( sigh ) aswell :D
Hopefully that'll grab Asus's attention.
Else, I will grab the details of a high ranked Asus employee ( with the help of my friends in the industry :D ) and will have a chat with him.
Hi, that's the best way to go at it benchzowner, no good ranting away, pls publish a link to all articles...
BTW, running the 1801 bios, no issues at all but only running a oc of 2.8, geil ram you see...

Good luck, catch me on msn, I want to talk :)Quote:

Apart from taking my harddrives on a rollercoaster, I guess it's ok..
Along with the HDD's the older bios' also worked over my Eheim pump. All the on and off and on and off. Now that I think about it. It wore the hell out of me and my nerves too. I am back up to 1707 and I am going to hang here til Asus gives me my miracle bios. Still I am extremely happed with this set up. As you can see in my sig It runs daily at a nice fast pace. Does not ever fall on it's face. Does my work without error. I liked my Presler a lot. I loved my 540J processor on a Epox 865 board It ran daily at 4400 mhz. Cool and smooth. But this Conroe, well there is just nothing like it. And this board, while there is room for improvement I just love it.
Merry Christmas to all here
Happy Honnakuh
Happy Qwansa
I hope 2007 is better for all of us...........

Merry Christmas WeldZilla and everyone reading :D
I'm also sticking on 1707 for now, I'm going to keep in touch with BenchZowner and see how he gets on
I'll definitely change to Abit AW9D-Max if next BIOS is the same crap as 1801(BSODs@stock). Its not perfect or better, but Performance is the same and OCing works easier and it has less bugs.
BTW: Merry Christmas!

I tried 1707. I had to up the vmch to 1.65V for my board to work @ 400fsb, or I experience random lockups.
I'm back to 1602 now and everything is on Auto @ 400fsb and orthos has been running for more than 7 hours.
I think I'll skip 1801 since all you guys have had so much trouble with it.
You can change from one hard drive controller to another without re-installing. It's irrelevant whether the controller is RAID or not, and it's irrelevant whether it SATA or IDE. But you need Norton Ghost, and enough spare hard drives.Quote:

Boot PC using MSDOS startup disk. Then run Norton Ghost from a floppy drive and do a DISK-TO-DISK (if you have RAID-0 then Ghost will see the RAID-0 array as one big disk - that's perfect).
Power down the PC.
Remove the OLD drive(s) from the OLD controller, and now boot the PC from the NEW drive(s) that are attached to the NEW controller.
Done!!!! Sounds hard but it's EASY.
If you want to move your RAID-0 drives from one controller to another (using the same drives), all you need is one large spare drive. You Ghost from the RAID-0 drives to the spare drive. Then move the RAID-0 drives to the new controller and then ghost from the spare drive back to the RAID-0 drives.
Merry Christmas everybody :)
Wish you all the best, and have some nice days, enjoy your holidays.
I'll work my way to Asus next week.
Let's see what will the results be :D
Hi, just got through re-installing Vista with the new motherboard bios 1801, right after I installed the latest DH Remore software I had a BSOD. I then booted into safe mode and removing the DH software stopped the BSOD. I then uninstalled the wireless driver and re-installed the DH software, guess what - no BSOD.
Found a beta setup for the wireless and Vista, now no BSOD, just played HF2 Episode One for two hours solid and it's fine...
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!!!

Hi all.
Is there a QVL for this board I can download?
I've seen the Corsair configurator. That's Corsair's opinion.
If there is an official list, or anyone has any hints, like certain chip size/density better than others, please speak up.
Looking for a pair of 1GB strips, lower end, as I don't intend to overclock.

How far do you guys think I can push my e6400? right now im doing 425x8 with 1.55Vmch. Temps are solid and dont break 50c in core temp. I want to hit 450, dont know if thats a reasonable goal though.
hard to say kevsta.....
up your vmch to 1.65....
cpu to 1.45 see if it goes higher, that will tell ya what it has left if it goes upo with more voltage...those voltages shouldnt effect your load temps to much, but keep an eye on them as you go higher voltages... good luck
I'm running now 1506 bios...at stock...
Can you tell me which is the most stable bios?
And which is the best for oc??
thx!

Good luck and Merry Xmas!

Ok, thank you for information. I think I'll go for 1707. And I'll see what can I do :)Quote:

How far did you go with your cpu, and with which voltages??
