ben805 can you tell me pls sth more about VCORE settings...max is 1.55V but there is another option +0,2V?...am I wright? There are no %+ VID options like on DFI boards?...Cause I ordered a new Opteron and I`m afraid I will need sth between 1.55v and 1.6V with this one...

that is correct....maximum is 1.56v + 0.20v so you should get about 1.76~1.77v, I don't have any vcore problem with 2 of my opterons.

1.4+.2 OVERVOLT+ setting more volts will not get you past 1.6. It's prob not maxtcase that determines the max temp, maybe somthing else. 2 ppl with diff maxtcase on an opty have the same 1.6 limit. IE: andrew's maxtcase is 71, mine is 49, same 1.6 limit. SINGLE optys are fine for this board it seems, 1.75 is prob the most volts u will ever need to run your rig, for duals, I wouldn't get this board just yet.
I have a weird problem.
Suddenly, my X2 has an idle temp of 40 degrees, which was like 25 before . . . Is it my temp sensor that's :banana::banana::banana::banana:ed up?
The heatpipes don't feel hot at all, so I doubt the idle temp is 40 degrees :confused:
you probably didn't mount the heatsink properly...the spike is too big!
Just as a note, Fry's Electronics has the board on sale at their B&M stores ONLY, not Outpost.com. I picked one up at the Arlington, Texas store. Price was $249.99 + Tax. I had the salesman do a SKU lookup, and they had < 10 at most of their stores. SKU is 4612868, and this is a Rev 1.01 board.

I'm betting it's like allways the CPU's MOSFET's are are a good place.
I've scoped out 3 legs that stick out from under the heatsink, soon as get it runing I'm going use a needle probe and see if one of those wont give the correct reading. If not then I'll pull the MOSFET heat sink by the edge of the board, one of those will work for sure.

Great thread, Ben. It was keeping me entertained while I twiddled my thumbs waiting for delivery...finally got it yesterday...what a board! I don't seem to be able to make vCore fluctuate at all and the other voltages vary by 1 or 2 100th of a volt....unreal voltage regulation! :woot:
Sorry for the noob question (well, heck, I AM a noob at this forum :) ) but I need some help translating from normal to ASUS bios-speak. I've found all the obvious things but this thing has so many hidden menus I just cranked the FSB to 225 on principle, tweaked memory timings a bit and started surfing while it burns in.
Not only is this my first SLI board, it's my first 939 board (bye-bye A7N8X-DX...you served me well.) I mean, I do have some understanding of how this is supposed to work but most of the OC guides out there have common terms that this BIOS doesn't use (or I can't find the damn things :mad: )
So...
Where the heck is the memory ratio setting? All I see is a few choices for RAM speed settings... on the plus side, nothing I've done to the CPU yet seems to affect RAM frequency.
Why am I adjusting "FSB" when these things don't even have one? Where are the HTT frequency and multiplier settings?
My apologies again for inserting my noobness into this very interesting thread, but any hints, clues or links would be greatly appreciated.
Okay my expert is going back to newegg for a refund when I get it monday. I added the board to my auto notify list and as soon as excaliber or the egg gets it ill be the first to order.
