Confusion

What do you guys think the OC potential of a 165 CCBWE 0534SPMW would be on air? (Ultra-D, Ballistix, Big Typhoon).

my x2 3800 is sold and i just pulled the trigger on a 170 retail from mwave, i'll you guys know how it goes when it gets here.

Has anyone confirmed this problem on the regular ultra-d? I thought it was only the eXpert that had the problem of killing cpus. I think its kinda odd a huge problem like this is just recently discovered on a board that has been out for over a year.

To keep things in perspective, the OEM 170 I just received from Monarch is a CCBWE 0534SPMW, and at the moment 2.7 SuperPI 32M stable is the highest I can get. I have an XP90C with a good panaflo on it. So, the Big Typhoon might get you more. Load Temps are about 53-54c and voltage needed for 32M stable is about 1.55. I'm not really willing to go any higher on voltage with this cooling. I never seem to get the super chips that some folks around here seem to get, so I was expecting 2.5-2.6. So, I'm happy.

I'm trying a burn-in at 2.2 at 1.25 volts to see if I can get 2.7 stable voltage down some...

I'd say 170 if you want the chance at the golden stepping, 0530TPMW.
You can OC these to the speed of a stock FX-62 (DC 2.8ghz) easily, maybe even push up the volts to make it 3.0ghz (FX-64) :p:

Yea, I was hoping for 0530 myself. But I don't think I'll be raising any stink because I can only get a 700mhz overclock...

Monarch shipped my two (OEM and retail) last Friday... but I'll keep my fingers crossed. It's weird that I can never get the good steppings regardless of how soon I order them.

I orderd a 170 oem saturday morning (from monarch) hoping for a 0530, guess it won't happen, since i don't have too much good luck. it was like the only reason i ordered one too, see how well the 0530's were doing :(

hey guys when your talking about these opties getting 2800mhz and such are you guys talking on air? just asking cause i just picked up a 180 dual core and im expecting atleast 3gigs on phasechange... my 3800x2 will run 3300mhz on phase i would hope these opties are good for atleast 3gigs using phasechange...

btw: the 180 optie i scored is a 0530 TPMW so if this is the stepping to get i hope its a good one.

thats not bad actualy i wouldnt doubt one of you guys getting 3gigs on air with the right stepping... ill post some results once i get this thing. ill be running mine under phasechange (stock vapo ls ) so i hope for atleast 3gigs maybe even 3200mhz just depends if the oc gods are smiling down on me or not :) .

My 170 CCBWE 0530TPMW did 2.8 before I had to touch the voltage (1.32 stock) and 2.9 prime stable for ~6 hours. It was pretty stable at 2.95 (spi & some prime) and I was pushing for 3.0 when my mobo died! Doh! I have good circulation and lots of fans (memory and pmw fans besides the xp-120) but something still gave. There is no obvious damage but it is definatly dead because I switched everything else out with a friend. Figuring out now if I can RMA it.

SPMW can do 2.8 and up with 1.550 only. At some point I had to play around with special VID to get it higher than 1.550 to do prime at 2.8.

I still have some tweaking and testing to do. I'm hoping for more than 2.7, but I just don't see that happening.

How did your board die? Was it b/c of OCing the 170?
