Don't blame THG, others have had problems too.
There are others, but very few have balls to say that Intel sucks (they might piss off sponsors).Quote:

I must say in all fairness to AMD that the board they sent to us as their platform representative was much more user friendly than Intel's 955 board that gave us nothing but a hard time right out of the gate.
We spent a week of our time just getting the board to even recognize their own damn CPU, which was more than a mere headache as it sent us back on our schedule by days and wasted many precious man hours just fiddling with the board.[/b]
Well then, lets rejoice that theyre getting the hell away from netburst before long.
I still fail to see how this is 12 pages worthy. Nobody reads THG unless its to laugh at them, and not many more people will run out to buy a high end pentium D.
i want to see this in the front page just funny
We all know how this is going to end
Intel 0 reboots AMD 125 reboots
A, Someone should have slept at a Holliday Inn express last night.
B, Bench monkey is on vacation.
C, The Amiga classes did not help the THG team with AMD/Intel setup as promised.
D, Hellen Keller was a bad choice to lead this project.
E, They have no clue what they are doing.
^^ didnt get the joke :(
If they at THG are not skilled enough to build a system, why AMD is running 24/7 ?
I would understand that they fooked something, but not this much.
Also many other sites have had lots of problems with Intel dual cores.
It is (Intel dual core) a really pathetic CPU that Intel released in panic.
Ill agree i wouldnt buy a pentium D, but to use the word panic is kinda funny
Im sure if you had side by side a celeon 2ghz and an a64 3000+, the customer would still buy the intel cpu, so i very much doubt intel is scared heh
ailleur not at that level but high end they are quite scared :P
dont worry guys. its going on the front page. kazoo will post it when she gets home.
But it's the corporate customers that Intel is afraid to loose.Quote:

Also AMD is is increasing x86 server sales faster than Intel (big money).
So that word panic does apply quite well to Intel, just use the internet.. :D
btw. this is great news for us since Intel is not going away, they just have competition and they are going to improve.
4k rpm for the intel fan weird is going faster but load temp is 70°c and i dont get why the amd systems just encoded 30min of video :S
amd is encoding so little becuase windows for some unknown reason decided to se the encoding priority REALLY low instead of normal where it should be and THG wont change it becuase this is just somethign windows is doing.. i can see how this is fair, but with how many concessions were made for the intel machine, why not give amd a break here and let it have a fighting chance with the encoding. besides if they do that the other benchmarks intel is getting slammed in will not be so drastic losses. thigns will balance out more.
better to see just amd losing 1 and intel getting owned in the other 3 xD somebody here knows ppl over thg to talk to them ????

I can only say one thing....
Booyah! Who yo daddy!
I dont think its healthy to criticize Intel's Dual Core platform just because of heat. Perhaps AMD's X2 series runs cooler, however, anyone here at Xtreme should already know that if they're buying a smithfield, its meant to used under watercooling, heck even the reviews tell you that much.
Under watercooling, a 4ghz Smithfield can do many things in many ways to both an X2 and an FX ;) ...I mean, if they were encoding apps here, even if the 840EE had rebooted 10 times, it would still be a head in encoding tasks lol. Each processor has its own pros and cons.
Also, this isnt Intel's definitive dual core solution. You'd have to wait for Presler or Dempsey - which happens to be two 65nm cores clocked at up to 3.8ghz on air...So we have yet to see Intel's full potential with their dual core strategy and members should know better than to scoff at Intel just because of one mere stress test. By no means am I pro-intel, but i've learned not to biased towards AMD either.
Perkam
According to reviews I've seen perkam, X2 kicks the crap out of P4D's in most encoding programs. And single core P4 with HT also beat them in at least half of the tests I've seen.
Plenty of reason for most.Quote:

AMD X2 can do under watercooling things that no other CPU can do. :)Quote:

What cons AMD X2 has ? (dont say price, we know it's not cheapest).Quote:

It is the best what Intel has for x86 !Quote:

Also todays CPU'sare not "final solution", both AMD and Intel will improve.
So what is your point ?
It's amusing. :DQuote:

Doth thou skoff?
I skoffeth!
And now we all step into a new level of rediculousness.
btw intel is coming up on teh 10 hour mark.. wonder if it is going to crash or not?
I wouldn't doubt them just yet ;) http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=61987
Hmmm...I dont really wanna turn this into Intel vs AMD, as long as its healthy jeering, I guess I shouldn't mind :)
Perkam
perkam you cant say future dampsey or preseler will be better they still are netburst tecnology and when those cpus come amd will have m2 socket around here so we may see in the future which is better
Yea and it'll require DDR2 ;) But actually, the reason I am trying to convince you guys of comparing it with Pressler was because it will be coming q1 2006...Socket m2 wont come until Second half of 2006...think q3 or q4 of 2006 : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/05...t_m2_desktops/ .Quote:
