So would 1.55V be a safe 24/7 voltage if the card is cooled by, say, a water block? Just trying to iron out the details for my video card upgrade. :) Thanks for any info.Quote:

1.55V should work just fine on water.
31k and some change.

With my system, MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum, A64-Whinchester 3200+, 2*512 OCZ EL PC-3200 Platinum Rev. 2, and HIS X800XL IceQ ive got these results (without voltmod & aircooled)
3Dmark05: 5743
Core Clock: 459 MHz
Memory Clock: 589 MHz
CPU AMD Athlon(tm) 64: 3200+ Winchester @ 2725 MHz
3Dmark03: 12 837
Core Clock: 459 MHz
Memory Clock: 605 MHz
CPU AMD Athlon(tm) 64: 3200+ Winchester @ 2710 MHz
3Dmark01: 29 919
Core Clock: 464 MHz
Memory Clock: 609 MHz
CPU AMD Athlon(tm) 64: 3200+ Winchester @ 2725 MHz
Best in Aquamark ive got 81 180 points.
I wonder what I could have achieved with some voldmodding? Im running the DNA-drivers atm, havent tried omega yet - worth a shot in the chase for 30K 3Dmark01 ?
Yeah and BTW hello :) my first post here
Welcome to XS
You're running good clocks but your score in '01 is very low. Charlie had some excellent tips in this thread. You should break 31K on that hardware, especially with a vmod.
Yeah with the voltmod guess I could get above 30K, presumeably raising the core clock. Ive noticed that just by raising it a few mhz will increase the score with quite a few points. But anything above 465mhz will end in freeze =)
We have nearly identical systems, you should nail 31k easy... your clocks are really good for stock cooling and stock volts...Quote:

Just some short valiant points i need varifying before i push for some more.
Firstly i have a CPU which is benchable at 2760mhz (270x10 2.5-3-3-6)
Secondly my card is good for benching at 490/610. I have it under my waterblock and is idling at 29C and running at 35C under full load. I noticed that Charlies card is only air cooled and has a ambient temp of only 16C. Is that with cold air ?!"?
I cant imagine my card running that cool, I have a very good connection with the core, good pressure. I know this cos my ram is benefiting from having a cooler pcb. Im running high volts though, for 24/7 use ive been using 1.65v on the core and 1.90v for the ram, this gave me an ati tool stable 470/570.
Giving the core an additional 0.5volts, has allowed my core to hit 490mhz, ive benched with 493mhz but anything higher than that I lock up.
Anyone do the second vmod for the gpu? Ive only done the vcore mod, does the overcurrent mod help??? The mem with 2.0volts benches at 610mhz, can I give the mem more volts (i know i can ;) but would that be safe-ish)??
Anyway now for some verification, im benching at 2760mhz (see first part of post) and card at 490/610 and im getting 30400 on 3DM01, this is on a clean install of windows2000, with directx9.0c SP3 and Cats 5.3. Is their anything I should know abt which directx version I should be using, and wht drivers also? Im not connected to the net at the moment so any advice on wht drivers I need so when I get online I know wht to download (library internet time is restriceted to 6hrs per week :( ).
Looking at some of the scores I believe im short of around 300-500 points. Im hoping that a combination of tips I could get from you peeps will get me the points (assuming u follow my belief tht my score is indeed a little off) tht i want
:D
Anyhow i check this thread later tonite and tomorrow morning, i want to break 31k and i can squeeze a bit more out the card and some tweaks i think its possible. I have a DFI Ultra-D and I havnt tweaked any of the advanced bios settings (know internet again :() Any advice on those would be well appreciated.
Anyway thanxs 4 reading, i got some munchies here and a biska needs rolling
:p:

276x10 you mean? :)
You should use 4.12 cats with DX 8.1 and don't forget Ricky tweak
Good spot mateyQuote:

Would I need to do some ini modding to get the earlier drivers to work with the X800XL??
As for the Ricky tweak im going to give tht a go
thanxs for the help, looking forward to some more tips
:p:
Actually, the ricky tweak should let you get a few hundreds points more. That's what I would try 1st.
BTW, in nForce2 times there was a way to get around Dx9 requirement for the platform drivers. I am sure there is now as well
Hey mong! :)Quote:

I am lazy thats way I didnt instal win2k ;)
Pretty weak core - where's the vmod? :)
Heres mine, #2 and creeping up on Charlie's. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8503599 Card volt modded but on stock cooling for now.. Soon as my R22 GPU phaser is complete (within a few days) things might change. :D

i am not far behind you. i am at 31370 and i have 370 mhz less on my cpu than you? memory timings must be slack on your run.Quote:

edit: plus i just noticed that your running xp.
LOL, never been serious about benchinng, first post at the orb. Card just had a very weak OC 445/545 IIRC, that and I know nothing about tweaking the OS and such, would love to learn though, LOL... Timings were at specs listed? Never knew XP made a difference, how big of one?
Sometimes 1000 pts from XP to 2K on some configurations IRRC
Frankly, with 3100mHz you could be at 33K+ probably 34K+

My 3000+ is agem, though... benchable at 2780 at 15C ambient, so I'm thinking DI with the DFi board may be benchable at 340 or so, about 3100mHz using 150 divider, 259mHz on the BH5.
I'm holding out for an FX57 these days...

Hmm, maybe I should install windows 2k on a spare drive and give it a go. Whats the best drivers to use for the XL? I run my 3000+ at 3050 24/7 prime/superpi games stable, I was just messing around and bumped it up to 3100 for kicks.. Chips been the best $130 bucks I ever spent :D
Off topic: Heres a pic of my rig and an early pick of my gpu phaser (in the making) wich fits nicely in the bottom front of my case..... Just need to insulate the the evap/card and work on a mount for the evap head..
Back on topic: FX57 :slobber: ............Also does anyone know if the BBA XLs core temp can be monitored, if so HOW?
you can use ATITool or ATITrayTools to monitor the BBA x800xl's temp. Just be sure to get the latest release of either of them.
I monitor my BBA's temps with rivatunerQuote:
