i think that the "ed" donnie quoted was NOT refering to dothans, but to the coming desktop p4s. because they were talking of 3.8ghz tops with enhanced speedstep... and yes you're right, macci proved the dothan doesn't speedstep (on its own) - that was another point adding to the quote above :)Quote:

I have'nt seen any 1600x1200 benchmarks yet - could someone supply "us" with theese? could be it got smacked up by the AMD64 in high resoulotions because of the lack of bandwidth?
Hi I'm going to get the DFi motherboard and a 1.6ghz Dothan but i'm not sure what memory to get. I saw some Mushkin 333mhz ddr memory at newegg with some really nice timings (2.2.2). Any ideas ? Whats working well for you guys with your dothans ? Oh yeah I allmost forgot will a SwiftTech mcx159 work on the DFi mobo ?

arrived dfi i mounted dothan 1.8ghz, not boot? why?.......
it's possible 1.8 dothan not recognized by bios installed on dfi on default?

I'm just debating the differences between mem sticks.
If these chips top out at 175-180, that's like 240ish OR 300ish...depending on divider.
So here's the question, will BH5 at 240, 2-2-2-5 be faster than 300, 2.5-3-3-7.....
My BH-5 will do 260 and my tccd will do 310.
These things are starved for mem b/w, maybe the big Mem MHZ will help.
I have 2 CPU's coming (one on Fri. and one on Monday) then I'll finally have a chance to play with it!

Has anyone actually tested upward dividers' efficiency? It doesnt make much sense to me at all. The fsb is the speed the cpu talks with the northbridge, thus with the memory, so running your memory at higher frequency than the fsb shouldnt be miraculous.

As said - It has a quadpumped front side bus wich gives it the abillity to transfer 4 bits per clock, so it practically runs 100MHz but is 400MHz effective. The bandwidth of this bus is 3200MB/s (64bit/8 x 4x100MHz). The DDR memory is double data rate (transfer 2 bits per clock cycle) and operates at speeds up to DDR600 today (some got better results) and here the memory would transfer 4800MB/s in single channel (64bit) and 9600MB/s in dual channel (128bit). The boards for Dothan uses single channel so not even the fastest DDR memory can feed a Dothan with the FSB overclocked to 166MHz (667QDR/5300MB/s) enough bandwidth...Quote:

taxi post should have stopped by with my dfi855, dothan 1.6 and gskill pc4800 (ocz 600w was delayed) today but the money is still on the table so I guess they didn't show up :(

when I try to use the 855gme clockgen, I get "wrong chipset" error message. I double checked and re-downloaded it and still get the same error????????
