Hmm, not only do they cost more but they must weigh more now too. $6 shipping instead of $5
(Edit) Still $67 at dealsonic, $5.95 shipping: http://www.dealsonic.com/fofs53dufana1.html
Maybe NewEgg raised the price because the fsp530w
is becoming so popular.
Good deal that DealSonic still has them for $67.
Was thinking ... the difference between $67 & $72 could be the
$5 shipping charge. :D
Darn, I was just going to order one from the egg this weekend and they raised the price. Maybe I'll give dealsonic a try.
i got it for $45 shipped refurb from newegg....looked new and the pots werent tamperred with
guess someone didnt like the way it looked :)

Not near the quantity of transactions as NewEgg.
Still, DealSonic has a 9.86 overall rating with 270 reviews and
likelihood of future purchases = 9.11.
Compare that to 1.25 for Accubyte.
I can say from personal experience that they suck BIG tyme. :flame:
Just got mine.
I got a TTGI520SS but the forton is gona be the next one I buy :D
That is the same PSU I just took out of my rig. The TTGI is a great PSU, but no +3.3v pot and being loud as hell were the reasons this FSP 530 took it's place.Quote:

I have been quite happy so far. I have not found one thing wrong with this thing yet. I was a little put off by that wimpy 18a on the +12v but it seems to handle itself quite fine!;)
This psu is solid.:D
Ok My 3400+ worked for 2 hours then shut down. I took everything off and still no boot. the fan would spin for 1 sec and quit Then I would unplug everything except cpu and board and it did the same thing. After a day thinking cpu was dead or board. Well now I tryed and was getting ready to send it back And I checked to see if my psu was it or not So I jumped the 2 pins to start and it did the same so its in the psu. I hit it with a hammer and now the fans work in the psu
Its a foltron 530 watt. Now I got to find out if the psu is bad or maybe I read where I need a battery backup or check ground on my outlets.
Also this thing is upside down in my case would that matter?
Thanks
Specs
Athlon 3400+, Gigabyte k8n pro, 512 kingstonpc 3500 hyper x and tryed 2 256 corsair pc 3500, Fortron 530 ps, ati 9800pro,
Lower your 3.3 Pot same thing happens to mine when I set it too high
limit for mine is 3.6V with a DMM
3.47V in bios
hope this helps
holy moses, repaired it the homer simpson (tm) way. lol, anyone remember the episode where homer and bart "repair" their vcr with firecrackers? sounds like this. sorry just had to post it as i think that was funny ;)Quote:

Lol had to hit it with something. Ok for those using this psu do you use a battery backup?
I looked and I have only 2 wires going to my outlets so it has no grounds. Its a older house.
So would a battery back up work since I dont have grounds at the outlet?
Thanks
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I bought this PS and am very pleased but have a stupid ?
What is the "top" and does it matter?
When I 1st installed it, it seemed that the screw holes would only line up in a certain way in my full-tower case. Then I went to adjust the pots and found that the it had to be flipped over to get at the cover.
Should the side with the heat-sinks and pots adj be "up" in the case or doesn't it matter.
TIA
Mike G
I would imagine the best way to calibrate is with the PSU out of the case, unconnected to the MOBO, with a MM on the atx connect..
Wanna adjust your pots without lighting yourself on fire? ;)
http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=64%2D2230
playing with the PSU and no fire? thats like a fourth of july barbecue and no salmonella...
I originally did adj out of the case using an old mainbaord and hd connected to it but as usual (Abit's notorious lower values)once I got going I had a little less than I wanted so I brought it up while monitoring the BIOS values. I know it's probably a little "hotter" this way but I rather more than less.
Anyway, I was mainly wondering about the orientation in regards to airflow thru the ps, to my mind as heat rises the heatsinks should be at the top of the ps.
Probably doesn't matter, I just noticed that my old Enermax with bottom fan has the hs just above it.

Well , this clinches it! My new psu is gonna be the Fortron 530w! I killed my Enermax 465w so now i'm a on back up pos rig i slapped together with spare junk parts  .
Thanx for the great info guyz ;)
Mine is running my A64 system, and my 80watt pelt.
Not even breaking a sweat.
i got myself a sparkle 400w psu and it looks identical to the fortron 530 inside, adjusting pots is much easier than my old ttgi. solid psu.
you need a dummy load to do that, or it will swing all over the place, Best to adjust it while your rig is running and pulling it's load.Quote:
