Does anyone have any idea as to what his setups are?

Yeah, Angra does research and has access to a large test lab. Thus he's able to put up some massive output.
If only I could come up with a way to get it on my client's servers :(. Unfortunately im sure they would be pissed at the speed lol.
ah well, I wish some of the old folders would show back up so XS doesnt drop 10+ places like we are about to soon :(
i just noticed this: 15 hours straight, 2 WUs, 7748 points....what the heck is going on?? (note: if you notice the was from yesterday and the day before - it obviously changed since then). how can i get better WUs?!?!?! (enquiring minds wan'a know!!)

nahhhh, the new/experimental WUs are usually the ones that give big points - these are probably generic WUs (read: when they actually run out/complete the series of the advanced WUs)Quote:
Perhaps these are the experimental / advanced cores?
they seem to have stopped finally and im back to normal. That was odd lol.
man now bds quit folding :(
Well at least i sparked some interest over a month or so lol.
nahhh i aint quit - my cooling just crapped out on me (so, obviously i can't run the PC). the control unit for my Boreas burned up (interestingly enough, i had just finally got it working right lol!!). anywho, been waiting for some new rads/fans to arrive - gonna build an external wood shroud w/ built in pump, rad, p/p fans, and controllers this weekend. the rad part will consist of MORA 3 and 18x Gentle Typhoon 4500 RPM fans on manual controllers. once that's up and running i'll be folding again!! not sure what i wanna do with the Boreas unit since it's built into the case (can't buy controllers anymore). pretty sure i know what blew, but hard to get those kind of parts here in Germany. oh well, it was struggling to keep my OC'ed CPU and GPUs cool anyway.
Oh Oh, losing Angra is bad news indeed. :(
well, everything came in, but (of course) i forgot to order a few of the small items (y-adapters for all the fans, tubing pass-through for the PCI slot covers, long enough tubing to get to the external set-up, quick disconnects......power supply to run 30 fans and 4 pumps....you know, the small stuff :))...but, i did get a temporary solution up and running so at least my main PC is running again. now i can game again (just got the new 2013 simcity and been playing diablo III) and can return to folding....it's good to fold again, i feel ..."right" again :)Quote:

guess this means ill need to step up my folding game to stay ahead of you :D
not that it matters, i just like to compete. i figure it drives me to increase my game a little.
hopefully a client of mine will be ordering 30 desktops with the new haswell i7's in them here at the beginning of june, as well as myself going out and getting one plus a 2 new gpu's. i should see my numbers skyrocket
it's all good - trust me, I would try to beat you too, but I got what I got. if I could get more out of it, I would :)Quote:

i'm [still] waiting for IB-E !! (hopefully this fall/winter) since it's a direct replacement part for my SB-E I can upgrade without having to change everything. not so sure that haswell will be able to outperform SB-E, but i'm game to find out hehe. i'm still not keen on the whole integrated GPU on all these parts. since i'm - at my core - a gamer, i'll always have a discreet GPU, so having one on the die (for me) is all but useless. a waste of space. I went from Nehalem to SB-E, and hope to go next to IB-E. with any luck, Intel will continue to think about those of us who don't want to be mainstream and will continue producing CPU's like those I've purchased in recent years.Quote:

what GPU's are you looking to get? NVidia or AMD? if AMD, then I could seriously be hurting to keep up - from what I saw (at least with the core 17 WUs) the 7000 series AMD cards are 2-3 TIMES(!!) the performance of my 680 GPU cores. and if we start getting the bonuses for our GPU compute WUs...well, i'm sure you can figure it out hehe...
oh, since this is a "post your PPD rates" thread:
woohoo!! I hit 1 million again for the month of april!! (only happened twice for me now) not bad considering I was down for 11 days lol. looking at some of your guys' past/recent months, I guess this is no big thing for you guys - each of you (gimpy, mele, wfo) hitting 1M every month - with 2 million occasionally, and even 5.8M and 4.8M (!!) from wfo in dec and jan - nice !! very nice :) I will endeavor to do better :) - I just gotta stop playing SimCity and turning off F@H lol - nahhhhhh, oh well...
;) the awesome thing for me is that i dont run it currently on my desktop lol. my i7 is getting at most 5k ppd for some reason. so i shut it down and let the ones i installed on my clients machines do my folding.
and i was looking into getting 2x 660ti's but with the new studies on the ati cards i may end up getting 2 of those, especially since bang for buck wise they typically beat out the nvidia gpus
preface: this is not intended to hate on AMD - their from Austin, i love em if nothing but for that alone :PQuote:

AMD cards do have better OpenCL performance (as the reviews i posted myself show). but, one of their big downfalls in the past is driver support - it's kept many a valued customer away - not to mention gaming performance. nVidia tends to hava the better gaming experience and bang for buck in the price range your looking at, so if these cards will be pulling double duty as gaming cards, and folding cards, this would be something to take into consideration. note: it has been a while since i've heard any of the really negative comments concerning AMD drivers....perhaps they have gotten better? any AMD graphics cards holders have any input - concerning driver refreshes/issues?
just to throw my 2 cents, my current 5850hd when overclocked will cause refresh bugs on my monitor, resulting in ridiculous blinking. the fix, i have found, is running the f@h gpu client which will force the card to do work and keep its oc settings high rather than auto clocking them down for some reason
yea, just saw the AMD thread about the AMD cards only running at 33% and driver issues - i guess the AMD driver issues haven't been completely ironed out yet...too bad, it would seem they make a decent product - if they could just generate some support for said product (ie: drivers) they could give nVidia a real run at things (at least in the mainstream and dual GPU arenas)
Im not sure what happened, but suddenly my i7-920 @ 3.8 went from ~4k ppd for the last 3 weeks to 48k... 0,0
EDIT: now its back to 2k ppd.... wtf
not sure - I used to fold on a 965 (clocked at 3.8 as well) and would pretty consistently get 45-50k ppd. only thing I can think of is bad WU's. do you have any advanced settings set up? check in the configure -> expert tab and see what's listed there. if the only thing listed is open-web-control:true then add the following:
(example) name:value
client-type:advanced
max-packet-size:big
that should give better WU's (maybe?) it might not always give better WU's, but should most of the time. (note: you can do this either for the individual component - ie: CPU or GPU - in the slots tab, but doing it in the expert tab should apply it to all the components)
I also noticed that you passed me!! now i'm gonna have to get my old 965 back up and running and ditch my worthless media server :) - note: oh, it's coming....count on it...it's on brother man!! :) in fact, just disregard everything I said above - total hogwash...won't do a thing for you <wink>
sheesh - look at this crap!! (WTF, over?)Quote:

**note: 7748*2=15496** which means I've been getting the same (CRAPPTASTIC!!!) WU's for two friggin days now!!! incidentally, those 7748's are all GPU cores - which apparently is all I've been getting credit for. 24 straight hours with no CPU credit - wtf ?!?!
I just checked the CPU WU I am working on:
WU: 8090
3.8% complete
ETA: 13.5 hours (~14 hr total)
base credit: 925 (really? seriously? for a 14 hr WU?)
estimated credit: 6411 (are you friggin serious?!?!)
and, of course, my GPU's are getting the ever persistent:
WU: 8071
60% complete
ETA: 1 hour (~2.5 total)
base credit: 3874 (x2 for each GPU for the ever present 7,748 - I really hate that number)
estimated credit: 3874 (yep - no bonus....at all....ever)
im feeling the hit aswell on this side. I just finished a gpu WU that took 26 hours for 8k points.
