Very nice guide. I got my GTX280 up to 700/1500 with 1.25v 55% fan.

I am unclear at the moment, but it seems that 4870's do have the aforementioned volterra voltage regulators - but do 4870x2's ?
Anyone know safe temps for the VRMs when bumping up the voltage?
the core overclocks in 27mhz increments as well as far as i understand. also lots of you are comparing overclocks, but keep in mind that to claim that your overclock is stable you have to run things like furmark and atitool for quiete a long time (i would say an hour or 2, and if you're watercooling gpu and cpu in one loop run prime95 in parallel and check your temps then, otherwise you cant be sure your system is stable and can handle the heat when you actially run it).
well, i read this on forums over and over, but unfortunately this didn't help me in real life. to achieve an overclock and running atitool, even for extended periods of time, is one thing BUT running crysis at this clock is a completely different story.
it might be satisfying for somebody to overclock and have this funny cube rotating in ati tool on the screen, but i prefer to use my card in "applications" like crysis and as long this will fail within minutes, i don't consider it a successful overclock!
well... i must be thick cuz i cant work out how you do this .... not sure on the cmd parts guess i will wait for a simpler way.
i said atitool an furmark because furmark is really hard on your gpu, if you can run it crysis will run as well.
Usually, I can run 20-50MHz higher on ATITool than with some games that are hard on the GPU. Furmark is now the "ultimate" stability test, since it pushes the core temp higher than anything else. 3DMark Vantage just rubs me the wrong way--i hate it more than all the previous 3dmark versions, and will only run it once each time I buy a new GPU!
4870X2, no more than 1.35v

^Hmm...
That screenshot would seem to imply VIDs >1.35v don't work.
^Whatever that is supposed to mean?
Seriously. Your persistent whining about the voltage slider is pathetic.
Only that I have a multimeter and know what I'm doing. You can't fry it the OVP kicks in around 1.35-1.37v, set what you like it won't go any higher. Bit of a silly comment for XS tbh.

Whining? Tell you what, you make a thread with a poll on whether users would prefer sliders or not...and we'll see who most folks agree with ok? Not a thread to force unwinder to change his mind (that would be wrong), I merely wanna see if everyone on XS thinks I'm a whiner.
You up for it....or are you just gonna PM a mod and try to get me banned like most usually do?
Strange I was sure UNWINDER said that's why he won't put the sliders in rivatuner....guys frying cards. Are you saying UNWINDER'S excuse is silly?
You stated it was a silly to say "using a slider coulda fried your card".
Well UNWINDER has given that excuse as THE ONLY reason he won't put the voltage sliders in RT.
So there's no two ways about it.....you just said his excuse is silly.
Don't try to avoid the subject :p:
Dude you got issues. Sliders? I'm concerned with overvolting the card, I could care less how. By sliders you mean an idiots interface to select any voltage, then no thats a dangerous device.
Either way this has nothing to do with the OVP limits Im seeing on the card and I've RTM you as a troll. If they put up a poll I'd be glad to vote yes you're a whiner.
