Mmmm interesting, I will take a look at my bios power settings when I'm home. I think it is on AUTO since I didn't change anything. I never really understood those different power state options. Always very poorly explained in the manual. Thanks for explaining tho but how long does it take for the system to go in any kind of power state?

I know I'm using the 'balanced' power setting and I have set the HDDs spin down to never as well. Don't you think that changing that setting was enough to solve the problem?

Just to try, i enabled Turbo Mode later, it boots without problem, and i can run Super Pi 32M and 3dMark06 at 21x189 = 3969Mhz...

Whats the problem here? :S Is there any way to go past this 189 BCLK wall im hitting? >.<

What is your batchnumber?

You don't mention what DRAM voltage your using but you should set this to 1.64v or 1.66v. Set CPU PLL to max. 1.88v or 1.9v. I don't know what cooling you are using but you may increase vcore to a max. of 1.55v according to Intel specs. However as you may understand this is not advised for 24/7 use. Therefore I would use 1.45v as a max. guideline if you're using appropriate cooling.

You can also try to use a MP of 19x because some i7's like that MP better. Moreover you should disable HyperThreading and Turbomode as well. When you reached a stable OC you could try to enable them. But keep in mind that enabling HT will need more vcore and Turbomode only is available with a 20x MP. Here is a guide that could be very usefull.

Intel's max. voltages:
vcore: 1.55v (I would recommend 1.45v)
CPU PLL: 1.88v
QPI/DRAM: 1.35v
DRAM: 1.65v
Max. temp.: 100 degrees celcius (I would suggest 80 - 90 degrees celcius)

Thanks for the answer.
Right now im at work, ill check the batch number when i get back to home, i think it was 3841AXXX.
The DRAM is at 1.62v just in case, does this affect the overclock? Since the mems are 1600Mhz at 1.5v i though it wouldnt matter if i raise it or not, even more when i never got the mems higher than 1600Mhz, i guess i was wrong then.
For cooling, im using a TRUE120 with 1366 Bolt-Thru-Kit and a Scythe 1600RPM fan (89CFM).

Ill give it another try with HT disabled and testing the max voltages you gave me. Is there anything else i may change? ICH0 voltages for example, or they doesnt really matter that much?

I have my monitor shut off in 15 mins and the whole system sleeps in 20 mins and it actually does it. Changing the setting for the HDD spindown was not enough to cure this. Changing the setting in the BIOS to S3 only has made a huge difference.

Does the S3 option work correctly on the Asus board? I thought I read somewhere on the internet that hybernation and sleep modus didn't work correctly on the P6T Deluxe yet.

Just got my P6T Deluxe and a 920 and 6GB Corsair 1600 8-8-8 dominators!
So far, this is running really well, just been doing memtest for the last few hours, has made 2 passes with no errors at a Bclock of 190 and complete default settings except for speedstep, tm etc.
Seems to working great so far!
I have a question though...what do I use for the disk setup? Do I set the controller for raid, or AHCI? This is new to me coming from a 780i before. I will be running Vista 64 and my boot drive will be a sata non-raid, but two of the other disks will be raid 0.

If you are going to be using the onboard sata for the raid you need to set it to raid in the bios which will allow you to configure the raid, if you are using a raid adapter it doesn't matter.

Ok, I set it to raid. But doesn't AHCI also allow raid?

Works like it should for me, but I am not OCing...yet.

The hybernation bug is a result of vista not the board

asus posted a fix to set a jumper on the board from +5 to +5VSB

havent tried it myself yet, but worth taking a look at

This phenomenon may be caused by VISTA OS. VISTA does not allow system to enter Standby mode, if "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" for an USB or PS/2 wake-supported device (such as mouse or keyboard) has been checked under "Device Manager", while the USB or PS/2 port has not switched its power mode to +5VSB that allows delivery of standby power to USB or PS/2 ports under soft OFF state. Because VISTA enables this standby option per default, and motherboards often set USB power modes to +5V at the same time, these two settings may result in conflict, hence resulting this phenomenon.

To resolve this, simply uncheck "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" for your USB mouse and PS/2 keyboard under "Device Manager", if you do not desire to wake the system via your USB mouse and/or PS/2 keyboard.

If you would like to wake your system from USB or PS/2 devices, please turn off your PC, set the appropriate USB port or PS/2 port jumper from +5V to +5VSB. Please follow the instructions in your user manual. Then your system will be able to enter and wake from standby mode as you desire.

Thanks to your tweakings i was able to bypass the 189 BCLK wall, HT off, but still, it was really unstable. No way to even do 5 seconds prime, it justs hangs the whole system at 190x20. Using 19 multi was not help at all either.
So i will just aim lower, right now im priming at 180x20 and try to get it stable for 24/7 use with pretty low noise and fans at low. Im not a hardcore overclocker anyway, so ill be happy with that. Still, ill try to find a way to push it a bit more later.

I just thought of the fact that you must also take in account that the proportion between QPI and uncore speed is 9:8. And that uncore speed must be twice the memory speed. These are just rules of thumb but provide you with a good basis to start from. Good luck!!!! :up:

Yeah, thanks :).
Right now im priming it at 21x188 HT off. Already 2hs of prime, its not what i wanted, but still not that bad. Maybe with some time i can burn it like in old times and raise the BCLK a bit more. I would be happy with 4Ghz, 190x21 would be enough.
Anyway, ill keep testing. Thanks again for the help. :)

Well... i was able to get 186x21 HT off, 10 hours of prime, i was gonna let it run another 10 or 12 hours but i though was enough.
Still, im not satisfied, so right now im trying to at least, get 191x21 breaking the 4Ghz wall, still with HT off, vcore 1.4v at bios, 1.376v on CPU-Z.
Ill post later if i get it stable. :)

EDIT: Nopes, no way to get it stable, even at vcore 1.45 and VTT at 1.4v. So i just got bad luck with a good batch, lol. Still, 3.9Ghz is not bad, at last, its a free 1.3Ghz from stock. :p

Now is time for my RAM. I know its not a good overclocker either, still ill try to get some more of it in the next days.

what about P6T deluxe v2 ? does the default bios comes with all the fixes from v1 ?

I've just built my P6T Deluxe Core i7 920 system and I am running at 20x200 1.44 V load QPI=1.3875V and 6G Corsair 1600 8,8,8-24 This passes LinX just fine with 20 passes on all memory. However, if I run Prime95, it fails rather quickly. It seems that in most cases it is the otherway around. Anybody know where I should look next?
I am running Prime96 right now at DDR31400 or so to see if this is a memory issue. But the memory will pass Memtest86 many times at 4GHz and full DDR31600 speeds no problem. Is this a QPI voltage issue? Or the dreaded 20x200 issue? I hope not cause I can't get over Bclk=204 on this system.

well i think the 21x multi work but you have to enable something under the cpu advance menu i think. since i don't have this board anymore i forgot where it is but i'm sure someone on this forum already teach how to make it work.

Yeah, you have to enable Intel Speedstep in the CPU advance menu. This gives you the opportunity to enable TurboMode as well. I think what 003 means it that the Gigabyte board has the possibility to enable TurboMode whenever you want with enabling Intel Speedstep first.

I have a question about CPU voltages. I have set up my system for 1.4325 V in the Bios and when I am in Windows at idle I read 1.42. As soon as I place a big load like linx, then the voltage goes UP to 1.448. This is something I have not seen before. DOes this board automatically raise the voltage under load? Is this a BIOS setting? Is it the LLC?

That is the LLC option which is probably enabled in your bios. You could try to put it on auto and see how well your OC will perform. As far as I know Intel CPU's like Vdroop.

And did your RAM pass Prime95 on 1400Mhz? You should make sure that your DRAM voltage is set at 1.64v or 1.66v.
