intersting mount there frosty :)
Haha I thought it was kinda weird also...but it works! I figured it went well with the rest of the geometricness of the rest of the block :D
Well...I was going to post another picture...but my pc crashed halfway through. I guess that's what I get for trying to render and encode video at the same time on an inadequately cooled i7 :bsod:. I'm gonna start another one before I hit the sack tonight......It's an endless battle between me and my computer.
Sir Crashalot: "Frosty....I...Am.....Your......................FA THER (well, at least, loosely speaking.......very loosely)!!!!!"
ME: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!" *promptly runs like hell*
Mr. Bluescreen (aka Sir Crashalot; promptly using another star wars quote): "I've got you now....."
Chipset Minions: "Sir, the Death CPU is active."
Sir Crashalot: *Haha now I can frack with his mind...Let's crash Maxwell!*
<moments later>
ME: Ah frick. Curse you red baron! (for this dialogues purposes, Sir Crashalot is the red baron.....hmmm, not quite sure how that works out, but w/e, its a rant :D)
Sir Crashalot: HAHA! VICTORY IS MINE!!!!!!!
:lsfight:
^this was to put an artistic perspective on my rant.
I'm terribly sorry for my rant; I'll delete it if you all prefer..... I'm rather irritated with my computer as you can well see. Just for an excuse, though, this all happened during my writing of a humanities essay, which I lost.........:am:.
Well I should get back to doing my spanish homework...not sure when that'll be, though. Ive still got an AP Spanish essay and radio notes to do......fiddlesticks :brick:...ugh. I hate AP classes.......
Anyways...to pertain to this thread...I'll be posting a picture of a better render of my block around 7 this morning. See you all then!
Here's some that I did manage to complete (before Sir Crashalot did his thang....)
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/7ea1e657.png
And a preview of what could be coming (aka crap resolution/quality)

WHY THE HELL AM I STILL UP!!!??? Sorry....I'm gonna leave now....:sofa:
I think you've got .......
Still more testing i like tests :) http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...osfettest4.jpg
I'm suprised Sir Crashalot didn't spazz out again.....

Another test On it, need to Change a few things, Bolts them ones look a bit crud, All copper But with a 1mm Brushed aluminum Top cover on top of it, Add threads, Add a few channels in the base, Name the block and then add etched Logo :)
But here's the lastest test on it
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...osfettest5.jpg
I've now created a thread for this design in the 'Computer Cases' section, but I though I should let you guys see the latest render....

Loking good mick, beside the color :p:
Great lookin stuff guys, some ppls renders look amazing =O
Anyway... ive been toying around with sketchup and kerkythea this time with the help from metric... its not the most realist render but i think its pretty good for a second shot! haha... i wasnt able to get softer shadows... it may have been the ground plane i was using... i had the "Sun" set at softshadows... metric mentioned HDR lighting to me, but im still kinda confused on how to go about that... if anyone has any info that would be great :)
CPU block concept:
its kinda hard to see the other side of that block, but it looks identical pretty much to the inlet side (side most visible)

lemme know what u think :P
Found that HDR set I was talking about: http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5896
Your block looks nice, but the base seems really thick, you could probably reduce the height by 30%-50%.
FrostyPanda: Great design, but your mounting bracket seems too thin, and I feel like it would warp if I tried to mount the block
A little preview of my WIP. Storm remake anyone?

Cool thanks metric, i found some on the kerkythea site and have been rendering one which i used of of the globals... ill post it when its done.... ill start tinkering with these right after :P haha
You think its a bit to thick? its only 5mm from top to bottom , and the tickness right under the fins is .5mm.... ill try reducing it some for the next renders with the new HDRs ;)
Evil that looks amazing :)
Hi everyone, i made the block as i promised. But i used a temporary bottom part, i'll assamble the true one tomorrow. Tests coming soon.

k... well this is as good as i could get it so far... still need to work on the mats a bit i think and also the make the polygon count a bit higher cause you can see some flat areas on the curves =\ anyway... lemme know what u guys think ;)

very nice emir, how are you making those? you own machines?
Need to fix the clearance for the caps, but the basic idea is there (still some flow optimizing needs to be done):

evil, really liking the simple colors (esp. the blue o-rings), I'm curious on how you have your lighting setup. Is it just indirect lighting with a HDR environment or is there more to it?...
Metric great great great great work and a extra great :)
