if im looking at those pictures carefully... make sure you just got good pressure on the middle 4 mounts.
If you start artifacting my first guess is its gonna be the side memory overheating from poor contact..
If everything is fine and dandy then im sure your mod is good.

as soon as you get the missing part please do post your results, as i have the same card and am waiting to see if there is any "misbehavior" with that block(ope there is not) just for reference furmark 120s stability test hits 97c on my stock DK 1GB , the other temps are 105c and 94c can't remember which is which).Quote:

Just curious as to what people are getting for memory temps on stock cooling. I've seen 70c during gaming, but that was the highest. Most of the time I get around 65c.
idle asus dk 1gb @ 22C ambient are :

Diamond 4870 512mb reference design 1. 23c ambient- Stock cooling during gaming (GTA4) GPU 55c, mem 67c, shader 56c, VRM 60c with fan at 40%. Read from rivatuner 2.20.
That's pretty much what I'm planning to do. It seems like the hard part is cooling all the various things that aren't the GPU, so just don't mess with that part and use a GPU only waterblock. Eastcoasthandle did this five months ago all the way back on page 3 and I can't see any reason why it won't work. Plus, you don't have to worry if your card is reference or not. It looks like you may not even have to cut up the stock parts.Quote:

well a bit of sad news, the four little pieces of plumbing needed to finish the graphics card loop has been delayed due to UPS and well I dont know but now it states it wont be here until the 2nd so my guess is a storm or somethin is slowing the shipment so we must wait for now ~_~

browsing PPC i found this WB that EK made for NON-Ref ATI cards EK 4870 GS.
Earlier on this Thread someone used his dremel to forcefully remove the PWR MF Cooling part of the block , it seems that the PWR MF cooling plate uses a slightly difference attachment method here so i wonder if maybe this block would work for the Asus DK 1GB without the use of the fearful dremel.
Again the Card i want to cool is the Asus Dark Knight 1GB

The aluminum is outside the water contact area, so no problems with it.
A while ago I had seen people bemoan the fact a little that most cards were all the same reference design and really didn't have anything special to set them apart. Now the 4870 has more "other" designs and now we are realizing why the reference design is better after all :p:
I still think about going full cover on my 4870 at some point, what I have set up works OK I guess but it is hardly the nicest looking setup around with ramsinks everywhere and an 80mm fan hanging off the backside of the card :lol2:
maze 4 is what i'm using, works fine. I do have sinks on the memory and vrms and a 120mm fan blowing right on top of the cardQuote:

Alright well I got everything I was waiting for, Spent the day to I plumbed it all and bleeding, fixed some leaks and now Im going to let it do some burn in time and tomorrow I will post pics and some results, so far as it stands idle is 34-36c and load is 41-42c
that is great new, i went ahead and ordered mine on Friday and arrived today Monday (talk about ultra fast shipping) from Sidewinders Computer if i can get those temps, my GPU will be running much cooler than my CPU loop lol.
