really like to see abit mobo again:)
Hell, I'm still waiting for the Anandtech P35 roundup that never happened. (not really) The P45 was supposed to happen back in August, I think. Whatever Gary's got, I wish he'd let us know about it.
it is the 'Pro' board.
i re-read his email and he used the past tense to describe the board: "would have been a great board"...i guess, in his opinion, abit is not going to pursue the IP45 Pro....i gathered he was stun like most of us that Universal Abit thought Digital Picture frames were a more viable product line to get into.
maybe someone get any news?? 2 weeks past..
It just plain sucks that Abit is out for real this time.
I have been using dozens and dozens of IP35 pro for customer's builds, and for some I still am (were reliability and low power need counts the most). Not one of them let me down.
What am I gonna use after that? Big fat overpriced Asus mobos? They might work, but they (still!) can't even go into powersave mode unless you leave everything on auto, lol.
Gigabyte mobos, who look like they were designed for 5 year olds?
It's probably either DFI or Foxconn for me (and the customers..) in the future.
I still would like to have at least one IP45 Pro, just to keep the memory alive as long as I got S775 to run. This is gonna end much like 3Dfx... *goes away crying*
yeah it's crappy Abit is toast. IP35 PRO was easily one of the best boards last year. Not necessarily in raw OC potential, but because the board just plain works, and gives decent overclocks for most people.
Abit have sucked for some time in the mainboard arena, I say good riddance. The last decent motherboard I can remember abit making was the NF7 series.I'm nor Pro or negative to any company, not biased in the slightest. I simply buy what works, and in the case of abit, very little has worked for a long time. Over the years I have owned a NF7, AN7, that Fatal1ty nf4 mobo (and omg that really was a fatality, biggest POS I have ever owned), and lastly the venerable AW9D-Max. That board had a great hardware spec, but never a decent BIOS to unlock its full potential. Shame on abit :shakes:
Only reason I've switched back to Asus is because no sign of the Abit IP45 Pro (DDR2) or Abit IP45-Max (DDR3), never had any problems with any of the following Abit or Asus motherboards - infact maybe because I've waited a month or so before buying is more common sense. :yepp:
List of Motherboards I've used.
(1998) Asus P2BF - S1 (Pentium II Motherboard)
(2002) Abit KR7A-RAID - Skt A
(2003) Abit NF7-S - Skt A
(2004) Asus A8V Deluxe Rev 1 - S939
(2004) Asus A8V Deluxe Rev 2 - S939
(2004) Abit AV8-3rd Eye - S939
(2005) Asus A8N-SLI Premium - S939 - Still in use today.
(2007) Asus P5N-E SLI - S775
(2007) Abit IN9 32X-MAX Wi-Fi - S775
(2007) Abit AB9 Quad GT - S775
(2007) Abit IP35 Pro - S775
(2008) Asus P5Q Deluxe - S775
I didn't go out and buy any of those abit boards the instant they come out, there was a good 2-3 months. I never buy a board the instant it comes out because of teething issues. I only got the P5Q Pro pretty much when that came out just because I needed a new board for my C2D system and theres certainly no point taking a step backwards.
Its PCB :p:
I've owned the Abit AW9D-Max as well & I virtually sold it within a few days of owning it, bought it when it was released like a guinea pig, same with the Abit IN9 32X-MAX - crap boards upon release not sure now.
Saying this, the Asus P5N-T was supposed to be a crap board too with lots of people complaining. Check this thread out it's quite amusing lol
