batch ?
@Lypo:
very nice.. wish I had that exotic cooling too... :)
Anyone tryed a Q802?
mykou : thnx, yeah this ain't the max. i think it can go a lot higher ;) just need to find a mobo that can feed it high fsb :(
The voltage can go lower than this. We decided to put this in instead of a e8500 because that was getting no where. We set the fsb to 500, multi 9 and 1.65v ( this was the vcore of the e8500 ) and we booted. Started raising the fsb and kept going to 604 without changes. on 604 fsb we rebooted because it would not go higher with cl4 so we tried cl5 and got to 608.
It wasn't my mobo but loc.o tried again with single chanal and got to 620 or so....
You might be seeing a litte more of this one ;)
ow yeah batch = Q807
jcmarfilph : no wishing needed, its not so expensive as you think. you can get a verry cheap tube for like 20 bucks ( maarten-Nforce had brazzed tube's for 5 euro's ) and some dice + alcohol ( 2$ for alcohol 96% pure and dice aint that expensive ) you can have a whole lot of fun with that.
nullface : no but i've read that they are fairly good clockers
Added your precious 3110 Xeons to the Wolfdale OC list :
grab here (will try to keep it updated) :

hmm good to know. I got this cpu with luck form a webshop :d
But i know several local computershops wich let me pick the cpu's wich ever batch i want ( there's one guy where i can return the cpu if it doesn't clock the way i want )
sorry for confusion
Got a q807a091 xeon 3110 coming in the mail...=)
These new batches of 3110 keep getting better:up:
lagunaX your getting a verry nice one i think. i thought mine was a Q807a992
Too ad about the board we used Lypo. It does 617mhz FSB with single channel and cas5 max, im rather sure your chip would have done it with the same vcore we used.

btw loc.o you know hugo's commando + e8500 are still alive afther those brutal 14 hours :p
i'm hoping that he can lend me that board during regroup lan. otherwise the choise wil be between a p5k-e, foxcon mars or a blackops.
And lets be honest, they are just dissappointing .... fsb wise.
hope your e8500 will rock under ln2, i'm sure we'll see some nice results in the xtreme section when the time is right
ps congrats on your 1500th post ;)
vid of my Q746a534 is 1.1125v and 1.07 for batch Q807a091 but this one got warm very easily
Noticed most of chips with low vid get very hot at same o/c comparing to others with more voltage .
With my E8400 very happy to get both of them ( 1.24v 4ghz and vid = 1.1000v with 55/56° load prime )
I bet first value is correct .
Wolfdale overclocking is sooo 2007, I'm gonna overclock a Qualcomm MSM7200A with LN2 asap, all I need is SuperPI for WM6...
Hey... This is XtremeSYSTEMS ;)
mine says vid 1.2000v
i'm confused what does that mean ?
The VID voltage is the base voltage your cpu will run at at stock speeds. If you check your cpu voltage, it should read 1.2v when at idle.
My E3110 has a 1.115 VID. All three of my E8400/E3100 have had that same VID, which is a very common reading. Under load the voltage automatically increases to 1.192v at stock speeds.
Supposedly, the lower the VID (some are as low as .875), the greater the room for overclocking. But with the Wolfdales, cpu's with lower VID's also seem to run hotter under load.
To me it doesn't really matter, as I O/C mine to 4.15 GHz with 1.36v under load.
whats the highest you would trust the e3110 to get to? as in volt for cpu ? under air cooling, say a tuniq tower?
1.4Vcore, in regard of temps keep them cores below 65°C (my own safe zone), CPU VTT below 1.4V , CPU PLL below 1.6V
And the lower VID cpu's in general run hotter... not only with wolfies... New coretemp , realtemp and CPU-2 read out the VIDS better though there are still some differences...
