The largest gain on 8800GT you get from shader OC, then core and then memory. Lowering shader so that you can get higher core clocks will not get you higher overall performance. (see below)

It doesn't matter what label you put next to VID. nVidia GPU uses VIDs levels and there are only four usable: VID00 - VID03. "0.95"-"1.1" is label only for people to understand which VID is which. GPU doesn't care which label you assign to VID. Thus your OC result stays the same.

I have a BFG 8800gt OC, and i can get 732/965/1798 stable on 100% fan speed with the bios changed to vid03 1.1v, i am using the bfg bios not the one on the first post.
I didn't feel like going over 965 on the memory side, but i know it can't go over 1010 since i did try that once.
I was just wondering what aftermarket air coolers people are putting on this card?
has anyone done the flash with a leadtek ? :D
all the cards are reference design..
If it works into one brand,it`ll work in everyone i guess..
someone have test cooling with HR03-GT ?? For me it's available the newt week...
But i hesite to buy an HR03GT for cooling my XFX at 740/2106/1836 or buy an 8800GTS V2 ...:banana::banana::banana:**g choice ^^ lol
im getting 730 (linked) /2050 with stock voltages through riva tuner.
I have BFG Tech Card w/ stock cooler, the OC is very noticable.
Under load my temps are reaching 85C!
Thinking about putting this card on water. I don't know the limits yet as I have sceen no artifacting in bioshocka nd crysis. But I'm not sure if I am going to keep the card.
I have not flashed a vid card bios since the 9800 pro days but I might give it a shot.
I just installed the Zalman vf900, idles at 38, load is at 53.....nice little cooler.
Any idea if you can use NiBiTor with the 512 GTS?
I have one coming on the 10th hopefully and I'm keen to do the Bios Mod.
hey hey me it comes next week i think...
If i not cracked for GTS ^^ lol
MY PNY 8800 GT normal version reads 1.15v @ 3D Load. I'm running it on 700-1782-1900
Edit running 725-1782-2000 now so far so good.
i just flashed my GT to a GTS... works, so far.. not sure if there is any benefit. i doubt there will be though, just would be cool if it did.
my only problem so far is the current drivers don't recognize my card... so it's just a standard vga device. anyone got GTS drivers... so i can test it? lol
I found this picture:

And i saw Asus is not cooling all the vrm's that the stock is cooling trough thermal pads. So if i look at this you only have to cool the two blocks of 3 vrm's when you install a 3d party cooler like the TT Duo orb or the VF900.
I might try this this week. Maybe i should put a temp sensor on the other vrm's or something. Dont wanna kill my card..

Where did you find the bios ? Can you post it here ?
I also serioulsy do not think that a bios flash will enable the SP, based on nvidia's past experiences. Also, note that the GTS consumes HUGE amounts of energy more than the GT for the extra SPs to run.
No way in hell that can be accomplished on the GTs unless hardware volt mods are done.
The fun might be that if the SPs are disabled only via firmware, if someone could enable only a some of the 128sps (more than GT, but less than GTS) then it might work.
8800GT SPs are fused, i.e. hardware disabled. BIOS or nVstrap won't work. (would be nice though eh?)
Idle max VID03 is 1.1. 8800GT overvolts under load by 0.05v.
