I did this mod by putting a wire into the right socket holes and it worked, my xp2100+ boots now as a 2700+.
But I wasn't able to reach a much higher fsb. Before i ran 221x11, afterwards i could run 222x11 (223 and 225 also but not stable). The Vdd mod was much more effective than the L12 mod.
Still I'm happy with 222x11, I don't see many aircooled systems doing the same.
It's like HaLDoL says, just put the wire in the socket holes, be sure it's a thin wire though, or the cpu pins won't fit in the holes anymore :DQuote:

And you can be very sure it will touch the pin, just because of the fact that the holes aren't that big and don't allow (much) room for other things like these wires :)

ok basically i painted the pins under the cpu as a picture on here had shown - but now its reading as an XP3200 - default 11*200.
have i followed the wrong pictures? will my fsb most likely still be good - or will it be the same. currently as 228 fsb stable like i was at 133fsb.

Besides, a wire can be removed easily ;)

As i understand it, that is exactly what is suppose to happen, just usually comes out to a 2700 or so. Oc it and see how high you get. Let us know of any change.Quote:

Goku, are you using the 200mhzFSB mod? Sounds like that is what you have right now. Didn't you want 166mhzFSB mod?
yeah - but i used the pins that i found in the 2 pictures on this thread. checked and double checked - same ones.
anyways, i managed to get into windows at 240fsb @ 11-2-2-2 timings, however i needed to disable the cpu interface for this. this led to a drop in memory bandwidth from 3550/3360 (228fsb) to 3350/3100 (240)!
the mod has allowed me to go higher with cpu interface enabled as well - im hoping for 233fsb.....the memory bandwidth is what im going for as this has given me a lot of boost.
so er yeah - it worked....got me (atm 3 fsb - but hopefully more) with interface enabled but almost 20fsb more with interface disabled.....but probably not worth it D:

It doesn't help me to get higher FSB's :(
I'm very sure I did it correct because the CPU is being detected as 166Mhz. The only difference is that I'll have to remove the 100/133 jumper from the mobo to get the CPU working at multiplier 10 and above.
I was doing 230 x 10 earlier but with this mod, I can't even do 230 stable. I wonder why people are getting good results but I'm not ? Perhaps this trick only works on the NF7 Rev 2.0 ? Any ideas anyone ?
The cause is your northbridge. It's an A3 and we're talking about C1's :( For these nb's cutting the 166MHz bridge was to enable them for high fsb.Quote:

yeah SAE is right. you'll probably need more intense Vdd mod and may need extra cooling on your NB. These old A2 & A3 NB chipsets are vdd voltage hungry and they will take all you give.
I would dis-engage the L12 mod for your setup if I were you.
Has anyone got better results with 200 mod than 166?
Also, i think gokou connected AH30 and AG31 together instead of AH30 to ground... that will actually give you 200 FSB if you do it that way even though i think i always here you have to connect both to ground.
oh to do the L12 mod via pins you have to make TWO connections?

I have done the L12 mod but I have a problem with memory, it's Kingston HyperX PC3200, and it can't go over 225MHz, don't know why. I saw posts where they are pushed over 240MHz with 4.2.2.2 sests. Someone has any idea?
what voltage are you running at? It is very possible they did a vdim mod and had some pretty high volts.
I might get to my nf7 mods this weekend. I am gonna have to get them done fast...I am realy close to getting a max3. Also I think I am gonna get a swifty 462-uht for my 1700. I want to see what it can do!
Memory voltage is 2.9V, 3.06 on multimeter, I haven't done vdd and vdim mod yet. I'll try and see what's gonna happend.
well I just got my new 1700 and did the wire drop (ah30 to ah28) not sure why but it showed up as 200fsb instead of 166. :confused:
When the bottom ag31 connection was removed, and only the top ah30 pin remained connected to ground (ah28), the 2100+ L12 became 166fsb.

I am not sure which one is ah28 but i connect ah30 to the other pin one spot directly to the left(looking at cpu socket not cpu) and get 166 FSB. I have also connected ah30 to ag31 and got 200 FSB.. i have never heard of anyone doing this but i did it on accident and it works just like connecting both to ground i guess.
I am gonna try that with a pencil. If it doesn't work I am gonna pull out the spuer glue and defogger. I got my heatsinks for the mosfets cut. time for some modding.
Use wire in the socket holes... it's so damn easy, it takes like 3 seconds to do the whole mod.
what kind of wire whoul i use? I guess not the stranded kind...what gauge?
I used wire from a telephone line. not happy with the results though.
