I have not tried yet as I just flashed the beta 1.4 bios to try and get past 350FSB cold bootable but will let you know later today
These bios problems with mid range Abit boards is a 'kin disgrace :down: :mad:

i tried it on my Q6600 and it did not work...intel must have a different pin on the q6600 to bounce it up to the 1333 strap.
what the mod did do was really limit me from changing out of the default multi....as soon as i tried lowering the multi, it would not post...i checked for continuity between the two pads in addition to verifying the silver was not making any contact with the middle and surrounding pads....

It made FA difference to my overclock because the bios is so rooted I cant get it much above 400FSB that is bootable and stable :shakes:

FSB Wall exists afaik on my e6400, I do not have more than the one chip, however, 6x 7x 8x, they all bsod at 463FSB, 460 is fine, tested on DFI Lanparty 680i LT, DFI P965-S, ABIT IP35-PRO, and GIGA P35-DQ6 at various voltages and settings, using different rams ranging from ballistix 800 and 1000 to corsair 1066 dominators and 1066 gskills... on all systems with several different rams the results with this chip are identical, 460 max FSB... the only difference is in the performance of the boards..

Yes, this mod can be done on any Intel desktop processor, and does not depend on certain model. But sometimes may not work due MoBo BIOS matters, like Asus.Quote:

could be but according to Kunaak, he said to make sure your bios supports 1333 processors and my Abit IP35 Pro was designed from the ground up to do that...i would think abit and asus would have the bios there in place when they sold them to do that very thing.
if i was to a wager on this, i would bet that intel caught on and changed the internal cpu registers of the newer revision cpu's to prevent us from upgrading the cpu to a 1333 bus.
It's no a requirement, just a recommendation. Or it just wouldn't work at all ;)
As for your idea - it's not so. The problem is not in the CPU. In my article I wrote about the BSEL mechanism. On the CPU side the only thing is to pullup to Vcc or down to Vss three (in case of LGA771\775) grids. They don't even have to contact to the grid. Only connected in the proper way in the socket. No connection. So Intel can't make any influence due to the mechanism of Bus Selecting.

No, it isn't different. I repeat - the Bus Selecting mechanism is a part of the MoBo. All the CPU does is connect the pins. And because the sockets for P4 and C2D are compatible (aren't they?) the pins must be the same. Otherwhise the bus would work properly only on one of the two.
Yes, all you have to do is connect BSEL1 and BSEL2.
They could do this on their MoBo's. But though the mechanism is made only by the MoBo, it can't by deactivated anyway from the CPU side.Quote:

So if I understand correctly:
If you want to go from High to Low, connect it to a Vss or connect it to a Low BSEL.
If you want to go from Low to High, connect it to a Vcc or isolate it.
Is that correct? And would isolating work if you want to go from low to high?
So a 266fsb cpu is L-L-L, if you want to go to 333fsb you could isolate BSEL2 to make it H-L-L, or connect BSEL2 to a Vcc. Would that work?
OK!...here's my question to all the experts on this!
why can't i take my Q6600, which is a 266 FSB processor, and JUST isolate BSEL2 pad on the cpu so it does not make contact with the foot pad contact within the cpu socket to make it go from low to high...won't that do the same thing as taking it from BSEL2 to VCC?
right now, for 266 FSB base processor...BSEL1, BSEL2 and BSEL0 are all suppose to be low resistance ( i presume grounded)...SO...if all i have to do to convert to 333 FSB processor is take BSEL2 to high...if it is grounded now, i am presuming that; isolating BSEL2 pad from the corresponding cpu socket leg should take it to high...CORRECT or NOT!?

i tried the BSEL2 to VCC but the mod did not take...checked the continuity and it was good....could be the bios not supporting the 1333 bus but i cannot see why since the IP35 Pro specs says it will support 1333 FSB processors.
maybe the boot block had it missing from the original shipping bios...since trying the mod and failing, i flashed to a beta bios, including the boot block area, the flash to the boot block gave me improved performance...only way to find out now is to rip the board out of the case...UGH!:D

I've done the 333 mod with a graphite paint on my E6400 (wall @ ~510, under DI ~520 so I hoped it will help even a little) and nothing happened - Commando was recognising 266 all the time {1001 & 803 BIOSes used, unfortunately shortly before BIOS 1302 was shown I removed the mod}.

I want to try again, with Celly 420 this time :), so I suppose I can do the 200 => 266 mod then maybe the 266 => 333 mod - I will try.
My question is what do You think about that graphite paint - maybe I must use something different? :shrug:
From what I've read about that graphite it shall do well but the result was far from my expectations...
