How to volt mod IC7 Vmem

Kyosen Vagp mod does not require cutting traces. Use the Lm358 chip left of southbridge chip.

Kyosen i'm working on a better VTT mod. I have it complete already and pics. Just gotta put everything back together and test it. I didn't cut the trace on the front of the mobo. I cut the trace on the back side. Then soldered a VR from left side MC50 to bottom leg of mosfet located in upper right corner of mobo. A bit easier than the old way of doing it. A finished pic of VTT mod. The green wires only.

Vchip??? huh? Do you mean Vcore for Northbridge? If so then no. To increase Vcore to Northbridge you use the LM358 chip located upper left of AGP port. A dangerous V mod in that you can't do it normal like you can Vagp. You have to cheat a bit for northy Vcore increase and bypass the internal diode of the LM358 chip er sort of. LOL don't get me started. I really hate frying other peoples stuff.

yes.. i ment Vcore for NB. whats the use of raising Vagp so high? for vid cards or does it also affect mobo?

My first IC7 would only do like 227fsb max. I checked my northy volts and it was very low. I then raised it and got 305fsb. Vagp just depends on what vid card you have. Nvidias like a high agp voltage. ATI doesn't like it above 1.65. I did increase Vagp up to 1.85 for my R9800Pro just to see if it might help. But it didn't.

OK I got the VTT volt mod set up and going on this thread. Will work on an IC7 and IC7max3 btw :)

In my experience at ASUS P4C800-E, higher Vagp helps
higher memory clock even if I use PCI video card.
But at IC7 it seems to helping slightly or little, I felt.

Yes green to yellow should be 0-1 ohm when you start.

Lemme check my notes for Vagp mod. Hmm i didn't seem to write it down. Try ground to pin 6 i believe. If that don't work try pin 5. Use 50K ohm vario or possibly a 100k ohm vario.

Vcore for northy you have can't mod that way. They only i found that works and it isn't reccomended is to use a 500k ohm vario from pin 5 to 8. Pin 8 is the 5v or 12v line btw. One of the reasons it's risky. It also bypasses the internal diode doing it this way. If there's another way to do it i'd like to know about it. Please check the mosfet located upper left of agp slot. Check the upper leg. If it reads 1.50 or close to it leave it alone. I've tried increasing Vcore to northy up to 1.625 volts. Any higher was worse. 1.50 is what Intel says to run it at. It helped on my first IC7 a lot. But increasing it on my others has had no effect. The first one was just so low it had to be modded. My max3 reads 1.479 and runs fine at my cpu limit with 17c water at 284fsb. Increasing Vcore for northy mainly helped FSB and memory.

OK, I tried leg-up at Pin6 of LM358, and suceeded Vnorth up;-)
I attached a picture, and it says all...
Voltage of Yellow wire is actual Vnorth.
Blue wire should go to GND(I used an empty pattern.).
Voltage of Green wire is adjusted original Vnorth(=1.44V in my case),
so Voltage of Yellow wire goes higher.

I confirmed the voltage at FET Q37's right(source) leg
(which is soldered the yellow wire) goes upto 1.65V.
I think 1.65 above is available, but afraid of damage to chipset...

Hmm...
Yellow wire is connected to FET Q37's right(source) leg,
so it always shows Vnorth.
If green goes toward ground in the POT, we got more Vnorth.
Remember my No.273 post, please. The theory is almost same.
In Vnorth case, LM358's Pin6 behaves as FeedBack pin, I think.

Turn the POT slowly, please.
In my experience, 5 turns gives over 1.6V.

I lifted up the Pin#6 of LM358 and soldered green wire on it.

I found the LM358. It's placed a little bit further up from the AGP slot than on the IC7. The mosfet is on the same place and it's labeled Q15. I checked the voltage on the right leg and it reads 1.42v.

I think this is possible on the IS7, too. :) I don't have any pot here, so I might try it tomorrow.

BTW, can I use any open pattern for ground?

I think so.
I chose the point which shows 0ohm between screw hole
fringe, and confirmed it shows near 0V at running.

do i have to lift up Pin#6 of LM358? i am still unsure how to measure Vnorth after doing the mod... pls help.... to my understanding... to see vnorth.. i have to go with my multimeter on the yellow wire.. to ground. i did this.. it gives me 1.5v.... however.. after doing the vmod.. will it give me the actuall value, or the value that the chip is tricked to believe? (still.. 1.5)

Yes, rigth leg of the FET (positive) and ground (negative). Just touch your case with the multimeter negative lead for ground.
Same way works after the mod, giving you the actual VDD (Vnorth).

Just did the vddr mod on my IS7. It's working fine. The Layout is a bit different from the IC7, but it has the same resistor - not labeled R50, thou - on the same place next to the winbond chip.
I've Just poped it off, and soldered a 1K pot following Kyosen schematics.

It works great giving me 3.23v with vio @ 3.28, and it's stable! Fluctuations are -0.1v.

Don't have any pics now, but will post one tomorrow.

BTW, what's VTT and why should I worry about it?
