Is this mobo working better with Q6600/Q6700, than the P5B Dlx?
so wheres the 1300 mhz shots I kept hearing these boards would do?
1300 is easy on the 680i, and the commando is supposedly taking that aspect and being done for this commando too, atleast thats what I kept hearing...
but so far, nothing more then a few FSB shots.
wheres the ram clocking?
yes. this will be a feature included in all future asus boards.Quote:

I think you just dont have the skill to do it on P965..Quote:

We wait and see what next version of Commando BIOS will include :fact:
More user results please?
I want to see if it's worth 'upgrading' from my P5B-E plus ^^ (965 to 965 is not really an upgrade I know, but I want higher OCability/stability)
Do you know which is the "tipically" FSB limit on QuadCores ? If i'm right, all mobos usually overclocks less if the cpu is a quadcore, i'm right ?
I'm still at 450Mhz in this Commando mobo on a QX6700:
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/6803/450vt3.th.jpg
That's at 1.7V NBCore and 1.54V FSB Termination. The others are in Auto.
What make me nutts is the weird shutdowns that makes at (almost) every bios change...
Which are the recommended voltages for a great OC on Air cooling ? I have always used a 975X which was quite simplier... so many voltages there :P
Oh.. and.. i'm the only one with several Vcore droops ? I set 1.35V in bios, at windows it shows 1.30V at idle and 1.27V at full load. (in that screenshot i'm using 1.4V in bios).
Edit:
I can't pass 455Mhz at any voltage, even at 2V VBCore and 1.6V FSB. Chipset temperature is ok (35ºC), i've added a delta fan.
check it for me too PLZ :DQuote:

I Will try to put it now @ FSB 426 MEM @ 533 using the 4:5 divider.
Edit:
It does it using the 4:5 also.

Tony, any info about first Commando BIOS release?
Hey Dani,
I got my Commando today and am having trouble getting it to start up with such low default VDIMM too. I'm also finding that more often than not it will boot at only PCI-E 1x. Really hope Asus can fix something up for us.
Other than it seems pretty damn good.
These aren't good news. Still the pci-e 1x prob, plus a vdimm one... :mad:Quote:

Thanks for the link though Joe, much appreciated.:toast:
Yeah I looked at that earlier on today, but one of the options isn't available in this bios:-
I tried changing all the other settings but it doesn't help on this board. As it goes, the same thing happens with my P5WDG2 WS Pro. It is worse with the Cellshock GKX than with my GSKill HZ GMH on both boards.Quote:
In SB:
PCIEX16_2/PCIEX1_1 Force => X4Mode (fast)
In the manual it says that there is an option for hyperthreading in bios, but there is no option shown in the 0601 bios. Is that significant? I know on my P5WDG2 I had to disable a hyper-something or other.:para:
JoeBar, the VDIMM problem is normal, all boards default to 1.80V but some RAM requires a bit more volts to boot at SPD. Just bad thinking on the RAM manufacturer's side, it's not ASUS's fault.
As for the PCIe X1, it's strange, but doesn't happen on all boards.
PS. Hyperthreading is for older P4 architecture CPUs, no need to worry about it.
i am talking about the obsolute max clocks on RAM...........can you test that RAM for fastest possible mhz on 4-4-4-x with 1:2 and 4:5 dividers please and report whether there is any difference in top MHz obtainedQuote:

I've been following this thread closely but updates seem very slow ^^, funny it was titled "Commando results" but look at the lack of "results".
I really want some user to elaborate their research on straps with this board, because FSB500+ with 1066 is too good to be true, and I mean we need bandwidth tests and benchmarks to back this up, 1066 should outperform 1333 in any case, given same frequency. (lower Pi times, higher 3Dmarks etc.)
I always thought this was the hype of the next big thing (look how far P5B-Dx goes on 1333 strap, now the same level of ocability with 1066 and nobody goes nuts and posts results?), but it is even more inactive than before it was released :P.

You misunderstood, I think. 500+ with 1066 strap is (even on Commando) reachable only with very high V_NB (which Commando offers in standard, unmodded) and booted @ 400 + ClockGen, as usual. Ziberia's results was on ~2V @ NB (cooled with icy water, so not anythink "standard" ;)) and, of course, boot @ 400 + ClockGen.Quote:

thanks for the link.....so ya its just too simular to p5bdlx to change from it...well for air anyway
kinda dissapointed was hopping there will be at least the strap setting in the bios
