Has anyone been over to newegg recenlty (since yesterday) and browsed through Crucials Ballistix modules? Well there looks to be a major change in their modules, besides the Tracers (PC2-8000) none of the sticks have heatspreads? Even the modules I recenlty purchased (PC2-8000 Ballistix w/Yellow HS) have no heatsink? If anyone has some information please post ASAP! I have a feeling it's just a "file photo" because they use the same picture for all modules, plus the actual IC's on the RAM pictured looks more retangular than D9's but I could certainly be wrong. On a separate note there seems to be a new kit at newegg from Corsairs which is very expensive at $463! Even though it's only PC2-6400 is the reason it's so expensive because its' rated at CAS3 or am I missing something? Thanks guys, here is the linky,

FOR the first note, looks like newegg is offering crucial striptease show all modules Naked by taking a look at the picture provided it could be fat bodies but any way they are not related to the modules , we will wait and see
Second note C3 dominator is expensive because it is in the same league as any DDR1000C4 and comes with a cooling fan
Thanks Kemo very much! When I said that the pictured modules looked more rectangular I was hinting towards FatBodies but aren't the chances that their actualy FB's? I'm very curious to know this but not curious enough to spend $312, lol! I friend of mine over at guru3d bought his PC2-8000 Ballistix shortly after they were released and they were genuine FatBodies! Maybe Crucial was running low on D9GMH's IC's and pulled out an old batch of FB's (we can dream right), lol!
2X1GB fat bodies are hard to find probably your friend bought 2X512 PC8000 but not a chance to find fatties this days , personally I prefer GKX over fat bodies
My dream is sub 200$ GKX with that Cheap phase cooling they are talking about in the news section

I was wondering the same thing. Crucial prices have not dropped at all. Corsair has $40 rebate on their XMS , so their price is very competitive. But, how do I hate rebates.
I have had several Corsairs sets. Their outstanding testing left very little headroom for OCers unhappily.

someone from buffalo came on here saying they were still d9's, but there were two cases of people buying them from microcenter and getting elpidas, so they're probably in the mix as well. no other reports other than from mc though so far

EDIT: Just got back from the EGG and all the Ballistix are still there and available, it's just that their heatspreaders are now removed!

Heh, don't knock the reviews (though I know what you mean), they can give you a flavour of product behaviour that, with 10 or so reviews, can tell you a lot. :)
