Well, opb and AndreYang say it will work, from i975x to p965 to i975x, without the head aches, and if they say it will work, it will workQuote:

in fact for 1m i had to go higher to beat NCSA by only a few fractions of a second.
And with the P5B Deluxe able to pull off the higher FSB's he just flat out embarrassed me in the 32m test :(
Dont get me wrong im not done with my OC's yet but this board at least is not that much better than the others...
Any tips on how to run 4 gig of ram with this board (Gskill BHZ), for the life of me I can't get it to run stable = constant reboots, hangs, os hosed.
Help from someone in the know please. :)
Set raed delay(tRD) - 7 ,refresh Cycle Time(tRFC)-30 and drive!:)

If all works well with those timeings you suggested I'll let you know.
Thanks a lot. :)
These are requirements to do "ultimate" test for this board...@ minimum 4.8Ghz.
1. High clocker X6800/X6700 Kentsfield B3 stepping 7.
2. Vcore/Vmch mods....Vdimm will depend on your ram.
3. Bios 0022.
4. IDE HD.
5. PCI VCard.
6. LN2 or "good" cascade
After that....test it with 3Ds and either CF or SLI cards:)
Then you can compare it with ATI RD600/BadAxe2 when they released.
Comparo with 965 board won't yield good results.
I gotta say i'm disappointed with this board, 335$ spent and it will NOT do over 415 FSB fully stable. Sure it goes to 440+ FSB, but anything more than clicking makes it BSOD.
It's a super stable board, i love that part, but i expected if it hits 470 FSB, that i could get 430-440 stable, and it is just not happening. Don't expect crazy FSB, this is just another 975x board.
Did you try it with loose timings or SPD on your mem?Quote:

Another same board is set up for benching.

I tried 5 pcs. retail P5W64s from 69MOAG100XXX to 132XXX all the same...480FSB unmoded with NB on water and 470ish NB stock.
Not all 975X board can scaled up like this board..unmoded, and I tried almost all 975X boards that available retail....Exept Abit and ECS:)
I got the same thing as the new one in the picture, except it is 3618A884.
Guess that is the same revision, since you mentioned 3618AXXX.
This is the most solid C2D board I have used of the 5+ I have tested.
Nothing extreme for me, just air.

Why IDE HDD?Quote:

Some people feel IDE drives can tolerate higher frequencies. I remember with the old SK8V which didn't have a PCI lock, IDE sometimes allowed a slightly better overclock. IDE drives seem less susceptible to data corruption at high frequencies. Again, it's just a theory. There's another member here who killed four SATA drives while benching in the 460FSB range with the P5WDG2.
I bench with IDE drives out of habit. Plus they're generally cheaper. ;) When the drives finally die, maybe I'll switch to SATA.
The 0301 bios seems fairly decent. I just wish Asus would fix the VCore issue. Selecting anything above 1.6v doesn't give you more voltage.
This was done with 1.5625v (bios) and air cooling. I'm not complaining.:)

Thanks sierra for explaining:)
BTW; nice CPU with AIR :toast:
0301 bios? wher is it?
any visual bios guide , like P5B , for this board?
