P5B Deluxe: BIOS screens for maximum overclocking success

(if we re gonna speak about the bios settings plz talk here and not in ''problems and fixes'')

Anyway, I recieved my E6600 and began to start overclockn.

here are my questions (i want to make a personall view of what voltages are often used):
How much Vnb do u use when OC? :
I personnaly use 1.45V or 1.55V

How much is the influence of Vfsb?
I was stable at 1.30V with my E6300, i ll have to figure out what is stable now (1.3 or 1.4). I noticed that 1.45V gives errors in orthos.

How much is the influence of vSB to your OC?
Because, i think the southbridge is a bit passive.......
The default voltage is 1.5V,
so... should i select 1.6V or 1.7V

-Vich8,
I presume this has no effect at your overclock, so it must be set to the lowest value (1.057V).


About PCI;

the default pci latency timer value is 64, all other motherboards use 32? Shoud i just lower it to 32?

1.4vfsb is best imo, 1.45 hurts your OC. SB doesnt need to be above auto until you rise above 500 fsb usually. But 1.6 doesnt hurt so thats what i run mine at. For vnb i usually run at 1.45 or 1.55v...

As for pci timer, leave it be unless you are haveing issues with a pci card.

Latency timer tweaks have fixed sound blaster crackling issue for me in the past and thats the only good reason i can see to adjust it.

I just cant believe it. No matter what voltages I try, I cant get above 450 FSB. anything above that is no boot with my P5B-D I just bought (rev 1.03G). Its not the mem, that can do easily 1ghz. I have tried every voltage on everything and only get 10mhz more with all voltages maxed. What am I possibly doing wrong? Could it be my cpu that is so crap it cant go above 450fsb even @ 6x mp? please help before a bad accident occurs here...

By the way, do I need to actively cool the NB heatsink? the bios says its only 30C which is BS because when I feel it its a lot warmer, but not as burning hot as the DS3 gets. what the hell is going on... also I have the latest bios 0804

If you have tried every different voltage, and lowererd the multiplier.......
Then i believe that is the limit.

What is the batchnumber?

where can I see that? anyway I'm gonna swap this E6300 with my other one, hopefully its the cpu. any last tips?

You can see it on the box and on the cpu itself.

Still , the best overclocks are done by an E6300.

How much is auto voltage when overclocking?

I figured that auto Vcore is 1.60 (1.55V in windows).
But how much volt is VSB,VNB,Vich,VFSB at auto.

voltages w/no overclock should be=
Vsb= 1.5V
Vnb=1.25v
Vich=1.05

rofl you're not gonna believe this... it WAS the cpu. changed the L627 with a L626, and BAM went from 450 to 514FSB (bootable). Quickly ran into other problems though, I had to place my x1900xt in the second 4X PCI-E slot for it to boot properly, which is hurting 3d performance, and it will only be prime stable at 500fsb. Well better than nothing, still expected better from this board. I think I will be replacing this with a P5B-E Plus asap.

Anyone else experienced these problems?

is anyone using the latest bios for asus p5d dh deluxe and have screenshots i could use to overclock mine?been through the whole thread and having a hard time here

I now have it running at around 3 GHZ (333 X 9)

DDR2-800 (Something funny like 806 for the DRAM Frequency)
Need to look at BIOS again:)

Vcore 1.425
vFSB 1.4
vNB 1.45
vSB 1.6

Crucial DDR2-800 memory at 4-4-4-12 (2.25 V)

It is running at 52 C on average at load (Core Temp & CPU-Burn-in)
It cools down to 46 C when not at load.

Is this ok for a Core Temp ??

Any good words from someone using an E6600 and Crucial memory ??

Ok folks this might be stupid, but how does FSB:DRAM ratio work ???
CPU-Z says I am running at 4:5.
I here people talking about 2:3 and 1:1
How does this work ?

4:5 is faster but 1:1 allows for better overclocks.

It depends on the capabilities of your system.

Didnt/dont u have mathmetics at school?

4=FSB
5=Dram

like 4x333=xxx/5= xxx (x2 =ddr)
2:3=
2x333=xxx/3=xxx(x2=ddr)

As revv said, 4:5 is faster. But you'd better go 1:1 till cpu's limit.

Guys, just mounted my "C2D 6400 + P5B Dlx" rig and I've reached very easy my minimum OC target -> 3500Mhz (501x7).

Validation here.

Now the fun stuff is that for this OC is 100% stable by just changing the vCore and vDimm voltages ... all other voltages are set to it's minimum values !! :D :banana: :D

overclocking= luck in combination with awesome clockin hardware (good batch).

It's 2 x Orthos stable :D

Didn't try x 8 ... because I want the mem on 1:1 @ 501fsb ;)

x8 is the multiplier, it doesnt effect the divider, it will stay 1:1.
