any predictions from the voltmod community on OC capability of the 260/280?
thx!
yes,
I have made a preview voltmod
http://www.shopneo.co.uk/files/cache...c3fd234df8.jpg
it will pump 1.21 gigawatts and may enable the card to play crysis
Without AA.
1.21 jiggawatts.... can it time travel?
can you glue two gtx 280's together and 9800gx2 cooler to make a homemade 280 gx2?
Has this been posted yet?
GTX 280 in action
http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...7710&Itemid=65
This thread is like watching paint dry :(
first part was just a joke ;)
things im wondering:
is the sheath on the gtx 260 made of aluminum or plastic?
and how many heatpipes under the sheath?
So you post an article from FUD to keep the thread rolling?
He currently thinks that the GTX260 has 210SPs, since it has 1/8 the MC/ROPs disabled and thinks it is the same for the SP clusters...
While he is right about the MC/ROPs he is wrong about the SPs, they are not linked to the MC/ROPs and there are 10 clusters which means 2 of them are disabled, getting the 192SPs that is so nicely confirmed in those leaked slides.
I'd advise a minimum of an 850W+, and that's without over-clocking. Considering 3 ultras can use about 600W total system power non-overclocked, add about 40-50W a piece for the GTX-280's and you'll have a good rough estimate of what kind of load usage you'll be looking at. ;)
Hey can anyone comment on the micro-stuttering of tri sli? AFAIK tri-sli really has only been used for benching, but can anyone comment on whether its better or worse? People complain about regular sli/xfire's micrstuttering, but I don't think we've looked that much at it for 3 and 4 way
Its mentioned in this article; Note the image on the right

We've learned that GT200, the one we call Geforce GTX 200, does support GDDR5 memory, but you won't see a card based on it anytime soon.
It is quite reasonably because 1GB GDDR5 would cost a lot of money, and Nvidia simply doesn’t even have to try before ATI manages to get its R700 card out.
The second part of the story is that despite doubled bandwidth, that could jump to a whopping 300GB/s or even much more, and you wouldn't see much difference in performance. The question of whether it can be done is finally answered, but will it be done and if so, when, remain to be seen.
knowing the cause may lead to a cure.
i take it some programs/games do not exhibit microstutter? if so, then why?
i spose multigpu owners live in hope of driver update fixes.
if it works, great, if it doesnt, suck eggs :eh::shrug:
http://www.fudzilla.com/images/stori...8/F/gtx280.jpg
i thought this was worth lifting from the link posted above. (is it real?)
those numbers look rather impressive. need a side by side gpuz shot from 4870 camp.
my gt is 60.8 GB/s bandwidth & 10.6 GPixels/s & 37.0 GTexels/s:stick:
There's a video of GTX260 up at tom's.. At least looks like it - 2x6 pins PCIe
http://video-it.tomshardware.com/vid...ROoafY9BB.html
yeah i saw that one...
still keen on seeing 4870 vs gtx260/80 gaming smoothness. nvidia drivers plus 8xQ AA have me won over at this point. i'm a bit concerned about ati drivers/AA...so someone help me out.
haha, I ninja'd that video.
it's definitely a 260 and not a 280
Anonymous delivers.
will these beasts support HDMI???
I guess a single enermax 1000W would be fine ofcourse there are other ones also nvidia says you need 1100W (no name psu ) to have tri sli
retail cards will have HDMI port
That's the longest forum signature I've ever seen
Yeah sort it out tbh, I don't care if you've tested every mobo ever made...
We're all like children at christmas, impatient waiting for benchies
so dry for info that we are running in circles with speculation and estimates
LOL, this picture was taken just to tease you
 LOOK AT THAT MOUSE PAD!
what?
it's just a regular mousepad
look at the gtx 280 that's running crysis, it's not just a boxed 280 - the machine has sli with crysis on it
TBH it doesn't look like a mousepad. It looks like a ad poster.
You all realize he was making a joke, right?
Anyway, we need fraps or "r_displayinfo 1" @ console and settings (res, AA) to realize the power of the cards.
Would you be kind to tell us the framerate achieved?
Just to remind: SLI sucks, its framerates are not real
Now go on
Hi mates, acording to a spanish site http://www.noticias3d.com/noticia.as...dnoticia=26353 the game was runing at 1920x1200 without AA "with absolute fluency"
Thats great but with what other settings besides no AA? What was AF etc.?
GTX 280 single card numbers please :D
It'd better be on Very High. Even a single 8800GT can run High @1680x1050 with (sort of) ease
my 8800 ultra can play 1920 x 1200 with setting tweaks and it feels fluid so yeah, it better be on very high
At least there's hope 2560x1600 might actually be doable this time around
I thinks its fake...the box says "1GB DDR3"...the last time i checked they used the GDDR3?
That's common.
http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/7...bkutijano4.jpg
Actually most (if not all) video card packaging will say DDR and not GDDR, for some reason. The box is the same as the one seen at computex so that at least seems legit. Has someone simply set all that up and actually an 8800GTS is in that case though? Who knows. . .
There's a lot of connectors on the back :D
http://b.imagehost.org/0678/Atreides.png
Lots of connectors and not much area for the hot air to escape. Going to cook the case like the GX2.
Yeah, I guess it'll suck to be an air-cooler. ;)
Still, that kind of interface is going to make single-slot waterblocks a little redundant too. Still, props for including all those different connectors. Little extras like that can help take some of the sting out of the price of admission.
Optical Audio-Out!!!
F:banana3:cking Finally!!!
I have GT200 ONE week at home, with 177.26 drivers and in performance i am little bit dissapointed ... i cannot to tell more because NDA ... but someone can ...
nm...
NDA is to blur
I guess best case and worst case scenarios, GTX280 is still faster by a bit, but it can also be underwhelming and overwhelming all at the same time
I guess the card will certainly shine more at higher resolutions
Crysis at 2560x1600 may never occur in my lifetime
Optical audio-out
Aaaannddd... with some photoshop we get
http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/8820/280gtxcd2.jpg
I made those on past 9800GX2 reviews and some of my own speculations about the GTX280
Aw picture got taken down, anyone save an original?
i am not sure, but your speculation is in some ways wrong ... we have to wait for not blured original chart
some pictures

Any word on the default vGPU for G200?
Coming in under two weeks the next flagship card from Nvidia, the GeForce GTX 280 has just had a quick photo shoot in Taipei. Coming to Taiwan to check out its competition, the G(T)200-powered GeForce GTX 280 can be seen below in detail. The beefy, 1 GB GDDR3-packing card takes up two PCI slots and has a cooler which resembles that found on the 9800 GTX. Under the hood lies the 65nm-build GPU which can brag with 240 Stream Processors clocked at about 1296 MHz.

Two SLI connectors mean triple-SLI support but such a setup should be too expensive to be a 'reasonable' purchase. When it gets released, on June 17, the GeForce GTX 280 will have a suggested price tag of $649.
No benchamrks yet??? thats weird, i mean usually there are too many SS's from benchamrks by this time its only about a month till it comes out
yeah, huh? Who woulda thought that "9900 GTX in July" = 280 in June???
Maybe a mod should change the title?
I both understand and don't understand.Quote:
but it can also be underwhelming and overwhelming
But your great, great, grandchildren will figure out a way. Maybe by rewriting the code in assembly so that it can run at Very High on their holographic softscreen with a Geforce2. Or maybe a flying saucer will land on the White House lawn in a few years and finally offer some competition to jen-hsun by offering some kind of optotronic nanographic card cooled by intelligent liquid hydrogen particles to the first person to approach the strange creature which turns out to strongly resemble Hillary Clinton but without arms or legs.Quote:

I think your scenarios are highly unlikely, but that's just me.
Just wanted to say that I just logged on to the member page of EVGA.com and saw that they have the GTX 280 and 260 listed as a link, but clicking on it takes you to a "does not exist" page. Hopefully these will be here soon so I can do my stepup.
Fudzilla exclusive he watermarked.... LOL
Like it's only him who has a GPUz screenshot or a card himself ( doubt it :D )
So, OBR (hardly an ATI die-hard) is disappointed with performance of the 280 and according to 'CJ' the dual chip r700 card out-scores it by several thousand points in the Vantage Xtreme preset? As well as this everything i've read on pricing of the r700 card points that it will be the same if not less expensive. . .
Yet if that benchmark picture is real then it actually scores more than a single 98 GX2 which means it is actually putting out more than double the performance of a single g90 core. I guess the whole "2 x more powerful than a GX2" thing was just dreaming :(
All of a sudden not so dead certain on what cards i will be buying.
Roll on 17th for some confirmation!
Hey OBR, any chance the lack of performance is pre-release driver related? I remember the GX2 having similar issues.
Cheers.
The 2x GX2 thing was dead for a while anyways - its just not really expected unless you're talking about very high res's and settings where the GX2 chokes and can actually lose to an Ultra
Something a bit off. At the time that these threads were published in other forums about 9900 series there was word about 9900GX2 of course about a week after that there was word that it was just rumors.
And i come to the point is nvidia going to leave ati have a 2 core gpu and just stare or are we to see that in some more time e.g. by november
double the performance of g92 would be very impressive for a single card IMO
It will be that fast no problem, but most people are still going to be very disappointed..
For some strange reason they expect it to be able to play Crysis smoothly ( 25 - 40fps ) @ 2560 x 1600 Very High, when a very fast 8800 Ultra cant even get double digits.
To get that kinda performance you are talking 4 x 8800Ultra or 2 x 2 9800gx2's performance on a single card, which is not going to happen anytime soon.
I reckon Crysis will run very smooth @ 1920 x 1200 on Very High settings, which is an achievement in its self, as it takes a Quad 9800gx2 to get ( 30 - 60 fps ) on it today.Performance on Crysis for the GTX280 should be near 9800GX2 Quad Sli imo...
Which is amazing for a single card..
I just got my stimulus check today, this card needs to be released asap.

What if you are wrong?:welcome::
I can't believe there areno benchmarks yet -.-
[QUOTE=Milos-stancene;3041927]I dought it will be near the 9800GX2 quad-SLI. A little bit higher than a 2xSLI 9800 GTX is what I expect. From the known GTX 280 specs, there is 240x1296/128x1512 = 60.7% higher shader performance than the 8800 Ultra (or a bit more if shader efficiency is improoved) and about 35% more memory bandwidth. That's nowhere near playing Crysis at maximum detail, but it is a big improovement.
I think OBR confirmed already that you need dual 280 SLI for crysis to be playable at 2560 on very high
This card is a monster  believe me.
